Story
Astro is a 4 year old Shepherd mix from the shelter. I adopted him at 8 months old. He does have some anxiety and PTSD that stemmed from either the shelter or from being a stray before then. He is a sweet boy who just wants attention and love. He loves to play, he gets the zoomies if you get him going! I live alone in an apartment and work a lot and am just not able to give him the life I know that he deserves. I put that he doesn’t get along with cats, which I also have, and is one of the reasons I cannot keep him any longer. He loves hanging out and playing with other dogs, but he does get anxious around new people and new environments that may cause him to be reactive. I’ve tried everything I can to help support him and give him the life he needs. This is taking a big toll on my mental health and if I can’t be there for myself, it’s even harder to be there for him.

Located in Atlanta, GA Meet Lasso! 🤎 This handsome shepherd mix puppy is around 5 months old, weighs about 40 lbs, and has only just begun his fresh start. Lasso was recently pulled from Cobb County Animal Control, where the shelter environment had become overwhelming for him. He was very scared when we met him, and like many sensitive dogs, the stress of kennel life was causing him to become more and more fearful as time went on. Now that he’s safe with rescue, Lasso is getting the chance to decompress, exhale, and learn that the world can be a kinder place. Because he is so new to us, we are intentionally giving him the time and space he needs to settle in before making any big claims about his personality. Right now, our focus is helping him feel safe, build confidence, and adjust to life outside the shelter. What we do know already is that Lasso is a beautiful young dog with so much potential ahead of him. At only 5 months old, he is still very much a puppy and has plenty of time to blossom into an incredible companion with the right guidance and patience. We’ll continue updating his profile as we learn more about him, his likes, and the kind of home where he’ll thrive most. This handsome fellow is Simon! He arrived at the shelter as a lost dog on 4/10 along with his bestie, Garfunkel. Sadly, no one has come to reclaim them. Upon arrival they were very anxious and unsure of their surroundings, but they're starting to adjust. It is evident that they find comfort and support in each other's presence. The volunteers describe both boys as friendly and easy to handle on leash. They both love treats and will sit nicely to accept them! Simon is approximately 5 years old, and weighs 43 lbs. He is UTD on vaccines, and did test negative for heartworms. He is neutered and will be microchipped upon adoption. Please come meet Simon in kennel 874; his ID # is 18131. Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. If this cat or dog came in as a lost animal, we do not know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When inquiring about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER. This pet is available for adoption from Cobb County Animal Services, 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, (770) 499-4136. Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Mondays & Holidays. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heartworm or combo test and a microchip.
