Major Mally is an all-around amazing boy! Smart is an understatement; he is very easy to train and likes to please! He knows heel (leash walking), a stop command, off, touch, sit, and down. Major is reported to be house-trained and to have previously lived with cats and other dogs with no issue. He is playful and funny with children, but at 80 pounds, he can knock little ones over just because he's not aware of his size. Major would thrive with an active person/family. He is the perfect running/walking partner & playmate. He would excel at agility, dock diving, etc, as he is so smart & eager to please, but not hyper like a purebred Belgian Shepherd. The best of both worlds! Major is 3 years old & 80lbs. Clyde is an 8 m.o. Belgian Malinois who, unfortunately, was recently hit by a car. As a result, he had his front left leg amputated and will be a Special Needs “Tripod” for the rest of his life. The good news is that nobody told Clyde this and, as far as he’s concerned, he will happily live out his life walking, running, jumping, playing, and wrestling just like all of the other dogs. He is smart, curious, and extremely affectionate with people and other dogs-he loves his “Snuggle Time”. Clyde is crate trained and will happily sleep through the night with no accidents. He knows some basic commands, but his new owner will need to continue his training. He absolutely loves playing with other dogs and would do best in a multi-dog household where he can socialize to his heart’s content. His ideal owner will need to be very cognizant of his overall joint health and work to ensure that his remaining front leg remains healthy for years to come. At this time, he has not been cat tested.

There is no shortage of energy around this boy, and he would love some kids or another dog to play with. This handsome boy is Anubis! He arrived at the shelter as a lost dog on 11/14, and sadly, no one has come to reclaim him. The volunteers have enjoyed getting to know Anubis, and describe him as friendly, easy going, and intelligent. Shepherds are working dogs and he'll benefit from an active family who will spend time keeping him physically and mentally stimulated. Anubis is approximately 5 years old, and weighs 59 lbs. He is UTD on vaccines, and did test negative for heartworms. He will be neutered and microchipped upon adoption. Please come meet Anubis in kennel 84; his ID # is 15075. Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. If this cat or dog came in as a lost animal, we do not know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. Blue is the sweetest dog. I rescued him on my honeymoon and he has been so important in my family. My two daughters love him very much, but after leaving my unhealthy marriage and becoming a single mom I can’t manage his anxiety. He has been getting out of the fence and breaking things around the house chewing doors and opening freezer to get frozen meat. I can’t afford his vet bills or the damage he is doing to my home. He just needs love and attention. I have been avoiding doing this but I have to focus on moving forward for my kids and he is too much of an issue and I simply cannot manage it anymore.

Onyx needs a new home! He has been through training and knows 30 commands in English. He is a good boy but has food anxiety as well as a couple of fears. His family was unable to keep him due to a new baby since he is a large dog and it is not known whether he is good with children so we feel rehoming him is best. He is 7 years old and lived with cats when he was a puppy, he probably would be good with cats, but has a prey drive when on walks. He has never lived with other dogs and has some anxiety around them but seems to like larger female dogs. He listens well as long as you stay on top of working with him on commands. He once fought off an entire pack of coyotes! He also chased off an intruder before. He has always had high quality food and is up to date on shots. Onyx will spend most of the day sleeping and relaxing as he is older now (almost 7) and is active but only for short spurts. He is happy in a crate most of the day with breaks.
