Meet Josette! She’s a 5-year-old spayed female German Shepherd/Belgian Shepherd mix weighing 47 lbs. She arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 3/27 as a stray and is beautiful inside and out. From the moment we met, she greeted me with a smile and lots of tail wags. She loves hugs and kisses, and happily gives them back. Josette has a happy-go-lucky personality, enjoys rolling in the grass, and adores tummy rubs. She seems well cared for, walks nicely on a leash, takes treats gently, knows the sit command, and may be housetrained. Gentle and loving, she’d make the perfect addition to a family. When walking past barking dogs, she showed no interest, though we recommend a dog test if you have another pup at home. She dreams of a secure yard to play in before coming inside for family time. Her smiling face is sure to brighten the days of anyone lucky enough to bring this sweet girl into their home and heart.

He adores spending time outside—especially going for walks, which are his absolute favorite thing! He would love a home where he can enjoy long walks to stretch his legs and explore the world by your side. When he’s not out adventuring, he’s soaking up the sunshine or staying close to his people—because hugs and companionship are what he lives for. And if you really want to win him over, bring some chicken jerky treats (though he’s still learning to be a little gentler when taking them!).Nemo will need a home with a fenced-in yard, as apartment living isn’t the right fit for him. He also prefers to be selective with other dogs, so a meet and greet is required—or he may be happiest as the only pet where he can soak up all the love and attention.If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will be your best friend through it all, Nemo is ready to fill that role and shower you with love.

This sweet girl is the definition of a people dog and wants nothing more than to be near her humans as much as possible. She absolutely thrives on love, attention, and companionship, and will happily follow you from room to room just to be close to you.Astrid previously lived with two young children and a teenager, and she bonded very closely with them. She has a gentle, affectionate personality and truly enjoys being part of the family. Whether it’s going for a nice walk, relaxing in the yard, or showing off her manners with a perfect “sit” and “stay,” Astrid is happiest when she’s by your side. She is so smart as she can sit on command, she also knows paw and laydown too!She absolutely loves going on walks and is wonderful on a leash, making her an easy companion for strolls around the neighborhood or relaxing outdoor adventures. Food is definitely the way to Astrid’s heart, and treats are a great motivator as she continues building confidence and learning new things.Astrid would do best in a house with a fenced-in backyard where she can safely enjoy the outdoors and settle into a calm routine. She does need to be the only animal in the home so she can feel comfortable and secure. She would also benefit from continued socialization and training to help her continue blossoming into the amazing companion we know she can be.Astrid should be kenneled when left alone, as she has a tendency to chew on things if given free roam while unsupervised.
