Story
Oakley is a slender, soft, and super smart 4-month-old, 25 lb Bernese Mountain Dog with a tail that never stops wagging. He has beautiful Bernese coloring and the softest muppet-like pouf of puppy dog hair atop his head. Oakley loves playing outside, playing with his favorite stuffed dog toys, and refining his tug-of-war skills. Oakley loves all people and dogs but is a little shy and timid and may hide behind his human's legs until he feels safe. Oakley's love language is physical touch. He loves to be laying next to his human's feet or holding a hand during a scary Halloween movie. He prefers to be close to his humans and loves snuggles more than treats. As he had a rough start in life, he is still learning to trust that his humans will come back for him and won't leave him. Because of this fear, he tends to follow his humans around the house and prefers to sleep on the same level of the home (not on a different floor) during bedtime. Oakley is doing great working on his potty training and uses puppy pads or goes outside 90% of the time, but still has accidents and will need a patient adopter who is willing to help him get to that final 100% finish line. Oakley is crate trained, but as his bladder is still growing, may have an accident in his crate if left for over 8 hours. Oakley doesn't love his crate, but will go in after being coaxed and will only whine and give puppy dog eyes for a few minutes before settling down. Oakley would love a canine sibling, but is independent enough to be the only pup in the household and the center of all your attention. Oakley would be a great addition to a household with children or humans of any age as long as they love kisses and snuggles and puppy dog eyes for days. ' Oakley is currently being fostered in Cincinnati, OH, and his adoption fee is $450.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations,, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
