Story
This little gem is a medical special needs pup. Sasha is a very sweet and easy going 3 year old Bichon mix; she is about 11 pounds. She loves all people and dogs and enamors everyone she meets. She walks well on leash, sleeps through the night in her crate, and does relatively well with her alone time. She has an adorable way of getting one's attention and loves to play with other dogs. Unfortunately Sasha was most likely hit by a car at some point and her spine is broken in her lower back. She has full use of all her legs, but she's completely incontinent. Her foster assists her to empty her bladder 3-4 times per day (easy to do, and a potential adopter could be taught to do it). If she is assisted to empty her bladder, her diaper stays dry and her fur stays clean. Due to her condition, Sasha is prone to UTIs, but helping her to empty her bladder regularly decreases this potential. Luckily she doesn't show any signs of pain and has a full life expectancy. Sasha will need to live with someone who is home most of the time. She'd probably do best in a home with a yard, so she doesn't always have to be in a diaper, but she would also be an easy dog for an apartment dweller as she doesn't necessarily have to be walked first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Since Sasha is "non-shedding, she will need regular grooming. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Sasha is $200. If you are interested in adopting Sasha, please complete our online adoption application at  https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/   . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. We will consider applicants outside the 9-county San Francisco Bay Area for Sasha, as long as applicant is able to travel to Oakland for meet and greet, and pick up. Story
This is my parent's dog. Both has been diagnosed with Dementia and can no longer take care of the dog. Nico was purchased from a Bichon Breeder in Oakland. I believe he is 12 yrs old. He has developed some skin allergies as parents continue to feed him everything. I would like someone that is good with senior dogs to adopt him and give him the best attention and love.

Story
Skipper  is happy and full of life. He loves to be active on hikes, walks, playing with toys, and running around in the backyard. He can also slow down and cuddle on the couch with you.   We’ve started training with him, and he would greatly benefit from a person who is committed to continuing his training and helping him progress.  He is stubborn, so training is key. Skipper would do best in an adult-only home. Energy Level?  Medium to High House trained?  Yes, 100%. He had never had an accident in the house. He routinely potties  about 15ish minutes after each meal. Describe how they are on leash?   Skipper  LOVES his walks. He does tend to pull, but we are working on it. Describe how they are with other dogs? Skipper would love to be the only dog in the home. Once Skipper is thoughtfully paired with the right dog and they play styles match, Skipper loves to play. Skipper's high energy play, can be much for some lower energy dogs. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they?  He has not been introduced to cats. Commands they know?  Sit What are their favorite things?  Toys, cuddles, walks, wrestling with their human  What do they need to work on?  Polite dog behavior and walking without pulling. How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone?  Skipper is left two -three times a week and he stays in an xpen for about 6 hours. He whines for a few minutes then sleeps most of the time and is mostly quiet. Where do they sleep?  In his xpen or crate What is their ideal home?  Skipper would thrive in an active home where he can get plenty of exercise. Ideally, he’d be the only dog, and he excels in an environment with clear structure and routine. We’ve started training with him, and he would greatly benefit from a person who is committed to continuing his training and helping him progress.  Skipper would do best in an adult-only home. Our Adoption fee is $325.   For adoption consideration or to meet our dogs , please complete our online application:   www.everypetsdream.org/adopt  and  we will have everything we need to know to call you back and set up an appointment.  Follow us:  Facebook  and  Instagram . Story
Don't blink, you might miss this gentle little ghost of love. Peek a Boo may have a little trouble seeing the world clearly, but she feels every bit of kindness around her. With vision that's more "abstract art" than HD, she moves through life at her own pace: slow strolls, soft landings, and lots of lounging. Patience is the key to her heart, and once you unlock it? You’ve got a snugglebug for life. Sweet, serene, and surprisingly sassy when the mood hits, she's the perfect companion for anyone who appreciates the quieter things in life.

Story
Not unlike the famous Beach Boys song, when you meet this beautiful long-legged Maltese mix dudette, you too will wish they all could be California girls! Our sweet California has proven herself to be a bit of an extrovert which served her well in her previous place of employment. She tells us she had loads of fun meeting tourists on the Hop On-Hop Off bus, and providing interesting information about San Francisco as well as her namesake state. At 13 years of age, we think this lovely, agile gal would also have fun taking a walk through Golden Gate Park on a foggy morning. At 13 pounds she could prove to be the perfect partner for a morning or early evening stroll. She loves treats (don’t we all?) and is very polite, gentle and exceedingly sweet. She invites you to come any time to Muttville HQ, make her acquaintance and have a nice visit! Here's some notes from her foster: California is sweet and gentle with long legs that she uses to her advantage. For a senior dog, she moves easily and happily goes on walks up and down hills. She’s great on the leash, on stairs, and in an elevator. And she is excellent on toilet breaks - no messing around. On first meeting she may seem a bit shy but she warms up quickly especially if you have treats. She can ride on buses and go to the pharmacy at Walgreens (accompanied by her human of course). She loves little squeaky toys and will play fetch to a limited degree. But her favorite activity is eating treats and cuddling on the couch. We think she is a little hard of hearing which helps her cope with living in the noisy city, but she has learnt to sit on command with the right hand gesture (and a treat). She would make a great companion for someone, and loves to snuggle up. She sleeps soundly through the night and during the day likes to cuddle, nap, get head and belly rubs, and go out. (She’s pretty good at letting you know when she has to go out.) She doesn’t like to eat much in the first half of the day, although she does like her dinner and will accept treats anytime! She hasn’t barked yet, but lets you know she’s missing you. She has a kink in her tail so it may have been broken at some point. She lets bigger dogs know that they can’t boss her around, and we’ve been gradually introducing her to off-leash play with other dogs which is going well. (Since we don’t have a cat or kids we don’t know how she reacts but seems to be very comfortable with people.)

Story
Macie is a sweet, silly girl who is about 5-8 years old and 15.5 pounds.  She loves her foster mom’s dogs and is sweet to her cat. She was closed down and ill when we pulled her from the shelter. Every day her personality is blooming a bit more. She is a real homebody and will walk around the block, but would rather stay home and hang out.  She is vaccinated, chipped and spayed and has had a recent dental. Macie is a special needs dog. She needs to take medication morning and evening for her heart murmur and arthritis. She also has ointment for dry eye. Macie was a stray so we don't know how she got to this state, whether an accident or genetics, but she readily takes her meds in pill pockets and she is a wonderful companion. Her medications and  supplements cost about $100 per month and she is a dog that will need regular grooming. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Macie is $300. If you are interested in adopting Macie, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. March 5, 2025, 12:45 am
