Story
Angel's Retreat recently took in 12 small breeder dogs from a mill that was shutting down. All of these dogs are small adults ranging from 3-7yrs old. These ladies have never lived in a home before and will need lots of love and TLC. They are not house trained. Most of them need extensive dental surgery as well as spays which will be covered by the rescue, but may require you to bring your adopted dog back to the rescue after adoption. These sweet girls deserve a second chance at life. If you can provide a quiet and loving home to one of these angels please apply at www.angelsretreat.org.

Meet the V dogs! These pups were rescued from horrible conditions and most of them had to be totally shaved. They are shy, but enjoy the company of other dogs and would do best with a fenced in yard. Story
Iris is a nearly 9 year old spayed female Bichon Frise who weighs 10.6 lbs. Iris came to All 4 Paws from a breeding kennel after she wasn't useful for breeding. Iris has spent all nine years of her life in a kennel. She produced countless litters of cute little fluffy puppies that were in high demand. While her puppies found loving homes, Iris was left behind, never understanding that life for her should be different than four walls and a concrete floor... until now. Due to neglect, Iris needed 26 teeth extracted. Now that she's received the medical and tender loving care she deserves, she is starting her journey to the life she deserves! Iris is on the shy side and is still getting used to her new life as a cherished pet. Her foster mom is earning her trust and already seeing glimpses of her true personality. She begs for attention by standing on her back legs and clapping her paws together, wagging her little tail feverishly. Once she gains some confidence, we have no doubt she'll blossom into a devoted companion! Iris would benefit from having a canine companion in her forever home that she can learn from, though she could also be an only dog in the right home. Iris is sharing her foster home with cats without issue as well. She is working on her house and leash training, but in time we have no doubt she'll catch on. All Iris needs is a quieter environment and a little patience to reach her full potential. Please helps us find this special girl the forever home she so desperately deserves! Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Moon is a 5.5 year old spayed female Bichon Frise who weighs 14 lbs. She came to All 4 Paws from a breeding kennel after she was no longer wanted for breeding purposes. Moon is lucky to be alive. The moment she was handed over to us by the breeding kennel we knew she needed medical care. She had a large inguinal hernia and pyometra. Her uterus was filled with fluid and completely entrapped in the hernia. Pyometra is a serious and life-threatening infection of the uterus in dogs caused by bacteria and hormonal changes. She also had a mammary mass that needed to be removed and sent for biopsy. Our friends at East Bradford Vet Hospital performed life-saving surgery and she has recovered nicely. The biopsy was benign! Now, Moon is ready to start the next chapter of her life as a cherished pet! This little girl is still very timid and unsure of her new surroundings. She has started to explore at her foster home with the help of the other dogs she is living with. She will need a confident canine companion in her forever home to help her learn the ropes and feel safe. Moon didn't seem to mind the cats she was introduced to. Normal things involved with being a dog like going for leash walks and being inside are all new to Moon. She panics and wants to hide when she is afraid. A home with a yard in a quiet environment will be important to her progress. It breaks our hearts to see her so unsure, but it's clear she really wants to trust! Despite being afraid, Moon has been nothing but sweet! We have really enjoyed watching her slowly come out of her shell and can tell she is a total sweetheart! She is starting to beg for food and has even settled into the routine of the home, though she is still wary of being petted or picked up. With time and patience Moon will surely blossom into a devoted companion - all she needs is a chance. Please help us find Moon the forever family she's been dreaming of!Help us continue to step up for dogs like Moon and consider donating towards their medical care: https://secure.givelively.org/donate/all-4-paws-rescueInterested in adopting? Story
Gilda is a 5 year old spayed female Bichon Frise who weighs 11.6 lbs. Gilda was surrendered to All 4 Paws by a breeding kennel when she was no longer useful. This little girl has spent her life in a kennel, not knowing what the life of a dog should be. The moment she arrived in our care she began to experience the kindness of humans and the comfort of the life she deserves. Gilda is still reserved and unsure of her new surroundings. Her foster home is the first she's ever been in. She wants to be part of things, but isn't yet sure she is safe. Oftentimes her foster mom finds her underfoot, but she remains out of reach. Gilda will need a patient family willing to work with her and help her gain the confidence she needs. She loves to be outside, so we'd love to find her a home in a quieter environment with a fenced in yard she can run around in and enjoy. She will need canine companions that will help her feel safe as she has always lived with other dogs and finds comfort in their company. Gilda also seems fine with cats. We have no doubt this cutie will flourish in the right home; all she needs is a chance. Please help us find Gilda the forever home she so desperately deserves!Help us continue to step up for dogs like Gilda and consider donating towards their medical care: https://secure.givelively.org/donate/all-4-paws-rescueInterested in adopting? Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about within an hour of Wilmington, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Coco Bean! Coco Bean is a 10 year old shih tzu mix who found herself in a local shelter, where she was left by her owners when they had to move to a place that didn’t allow dogs. “Great with dogs, cats, and kids” was written on her owner surrender form. Unfortunately, shelter workers didn’t see that side of her. They saw a terrified little dog who hid in the corner of her cage and screamed when anyone tried to touch her. They managed to get her out of the cage and off for a walk, and she started to open up. She loved being outside on leash, and even allowed them to pet her. However, this was not enough of an improvement, and she was time stamped due to her behavior. We were heartbroken at the thought of her not getting a chance, so we brought her to a foster home where we learned who Coco Bean really is. She is a silly, playful, happy girl who LOVES her humans. She really enjoys walks, as well as napping on the couch with her family. She rides nicely in the car, always ready for an adventure. She will nibble your shoes, while you’re wearing them, if she wants attention. She will then flop over, and show you her belly. And if you dare ignore this plea for attention, she’ll wave her front legs at you, clearly saying PET ME HUMAN! She does great with other dogs and has lived with dog savvy cats. She has met humans young and old and loves them all, especially if they are willing to give her some attention. She is housebroken but will likely have some accidents when she first goes to her new home as she figures out how to let you know she has to potty. As much as she loves people, and belly rubs, she will need some time to adjust to a new home. She may spend some time by herself, learning that she is in a safe place. Her adopters will need to be patient with her and let her come to them. We promise she’s worth the wait! It doesn’t take her long to want to be with her people. She may do better in a home with other animals (dog or cat) but she may be fine without them with patient people. While Coco was in rescue, she was spayed, and had 2 cherry eye surgeries (the first one didn’t fully take). She also had a benign cyst removed from the side of her face. She needs some eyedrops daily, and she is also on medications for anxiety we had started when she first came to rescue. We think they should continue when she’s adopted, but once she’s settled her new family can discuss weaning them with their vet. Each eye drop is $60 a bottle, but they last a while. One is once a day, one is twice a day. Her medications are around $60 a month, but as we said she can likely be weaned off once she settles into her forever home. Coco Bean is a sweet, sweet little girl. She has had some rough times, and just needs a safe place where she can continue to thrive and grow. Could that be with you?
