Story
A ‘SPECIAL NEEDS’ CUTIE PIE:  Approx. 8 years old / Approx. 15 lbs.   Hello - I’m Neo! I was found on some railroad tracks by a good Good Samaritan.  After completing my stray hold through animal control, I spent a couple of weeks with them, during which I was treated for pneumonia.  Wanting me to have the loving home I deserve, they helped me make my way to Mostly Mutts, where I’ve continued receiving great care.  My medical needs have been addressed, and while I’m still a special needs pup, I’m doing much better.  I will need ongoing medication and care, but I’m so happy that I’m ready to find a loving home of my very own! (See below for medical details.)     • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I get along great with the pack of pups in my current foster home – from the Chihuahua to the Shepherd mix – we are good buddies!  If you have a nice doggy at home, let’s meet! / Though I initially gave chase to the kitties in my foster home, I’ve learned not to do that and am now pretty calm around them.  All cats are different, so I’m not sure how I would be with other kitties. / I would do best with older children.  Smaller children that may spook me could risk a nip.  So, let’s meet if you have older children. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a sweet guy with a friendly and gentle nature.  A happy little guy who loves to be with my people, I will also take time to sprawl out on the floor and look out the windows.  I can sometimes be a little vocal when I am happy and then I like to roll around on the floor and be silly – what fun!  Sometimes I’m up for snuggling in a lap, while other times I prefer just being near you on the floor.  I’m a delightful and happy little guy.  / Energy level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  In my foster home, I’ve learned what ‘harness’ means when this is put on or taken off (I should only use a harness for walks and not have a collar attached to a leash due to my trachea challenges. In my foster home, I ‘come’ when called, and ‘go out’ when we go outside.  I formerly knew the ‘sit’ and ‘leave it’ commands, though I haven’t practiced those in a little while.  Mostly Mutts offers free lifetime training classes for all their adopted dogs, so let’s continue my training together. / I’m not crated in my foster home. / My potty habits are a work in progress.  I do pretty well on a schedule and have improved at going while on a leash.  So, please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can continue to improve. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love my walks and have a fun little prance in my step.  Toys are fun, and I enjoy shaking them playfully or carrying them around.  I’m more energetic outside and love to play outside with my people – but shouldn’t do much outside time when it’s very hot and humid due to my health challenges. / I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love and attention. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I have severe collapsing trachea (so I do cough a good bit) as well as an enlarged heart.  I’m on a few prescription medications for these conditions that I’ll need to stay on for life.  Please ask about this so the folks at Mostly Mutts can fill you in on everything.  You may notice from my pictures that I have some tartar and yellowing of my teeth, but I cannot have a dental cleaning due to my trachea and heart challenges, but there are over the counter things you can try with me for dental health – once your vet approves them of course.  Ask about me to learn all the things I’ve overcome as I continue to be a wonderful companion.  I am looking for a loving home with a wonderful furever family that will love me and continue to meet my needs!  My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  August 9, 2026, 10:42 am

Story
Penelope Lou is eligible to foster-to-adopt so you can get to know one another before making it official! This 11-year-old Bichon Frise mix may be small at 8 pounds, but she has a gigantic personality. Penelope is a beautiful little lady with plenty of sass and charm. She’s incredibly sweet once she warms up to you, but she does have her triggers and will do best in a home without small children. Penelope would thrive in a home with a secure fenced yard and a family experienced with small dogs who know how to handle a little attitude. Once she trusts you, she’ll shower you with love - and maybe a little bossiness too! Penelope Lou currently weighs about 8lbs., is approximately 11 years old (est. birth date 02/01/2015), and her adoption fee is $85. Penelope Lou has been spayed, is up to date on all vaccinations & preventatives, and is microchipped. If you want to know more about Penelope Lou, please complete a survey at www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FKDS/Dog. After submitting a survey, an adoption counselor will contact you within 72 hours to give you more information about the dog you are interested in adopting and to arrange for you to meet. You must be at least 21 years of age to adopt.

Story
Looking for an adopter who works from home or is retired. Has lots of energy and likes to walk and play with his stuffies and siblings everyday.   August 5. Taking Kiko off special needs at this time. His legs are healing well and he is going to be awesome. His needs will be normal for his breed. I do not feed him chicken at this time and his coat and skin is great. He was doing zoomies the other day which leads me to believe he may be a bichon poo.      Please read all of the updates below it will help you understand him and what he endured.    July 25, Kiko is ready to be adopted. He has his 8/4 week checkup on his surgeries for his legs On Aug 13 which I will be taking him for.  He has done wonderful with the surgery. His legs are straight and will need to be strengthened as he heals.  His adopter will need to take him to Columbus for his last checkup at 8 weeks for his right leg. He weighs 9.8 now and should not gain anymore. He is still everything I have outlined below as he has learned to become a dog and part of a family.  He does seem to be a one person dog in that I am the only person he will let pick him up. Though he has bonded to my neighbor and family and will sit next to them, play with them, but will not allow them to hold him. You will have to judge how he will be by watching him with me. He will bond with his new mom/dad after I am out of the picture. You will have to be patient with him as he may get depressed. He has been with me for a long time and I have nursed him through several surgeries and vet visits. He trusts me implicitly.  I am the first person to treat him well and love him fully.  He loves to play with his toys, takes them outside and has learned to bring them back in. He has many cow hooves which has cleaned his teeth, he is an aggressive chewer but only on toys, sticks, hooves, chewies, and still my hands.  He is good about stopping when I say no bite. He is learning to be more independent as he heals from his surgeries, he has had to be in my lap non stop to stay quiet for his legs to heal. The hard work is done now it’s just love this boy and play with him. He loves his sisters, barks and plays with his brother. He is great with other animals but he wants ALL OF THE ATTENTION.  He mostly wants to be in my lap and shares it no problem and sleeps with me at night. If you are not good with that he is not for you.  He needs to be with his human. He does great loose in the house when I leave for errands and such for a couple hours. This boy has a strong will to live, thrive, and love. He is awesome. He is smart and energetic.  He is not an easy dog but he is worth all the energy he will take. He will settle as he gets his forever home and learns his new environment.     UPDATE APRIL 25 —  what a difference another few weeks has brought to Kiko. He is now neutered and has his umbilical hernia repaired and has all his shots and is HW NEGATIVE.  He loves to play fetch and is playing tug of war with toys with his sibs. He loves his walks and he does them on a leash. If the walk is long I will carry him a ways here and there to relive his back legs. His legs have strengthen and stretched and he can now get up on his hind legs for short periods. He is running, playing, and remains my loyal shadow.  He will need a mom that loves to have her boy close at all times. He gets upset if he cannot see me, though he does fine left in the house while I grocery shop and do errands. He loves to find and chew sticks and toys and my hand which I have been stopping him from doing but it’s his favorite thing so it’s a battle. Hide the hands and redirect him to stuffies.  He has a consultation with Southeast veterinary specialists to look at his back knees on May 5.  This is one of the smartest, sweetest, boy I have ever had live with me. He is a joy and he is a lot as he needs mom all the time. He sleeps with his head on my shoulder. He is not independent so be prepared for total love 100% of the time.    UPDATE APRIL4 - Kiko weighed in at 7.3 lbs this morning after his second breakfast  he came to us at 4.2  you can watch his first bath on FB post link below.  Kiko has had his first groom which was mostly a shave to the skin due to his matting, however it is growing in quickly. He does not like to be groomed so I am using a soft brush on him daily and a face wash to get him used to being taken care of. Kiko loves his daily walk with the pack, he does short stints on a leash and loves it. Kiko is potty trained and does amazing in the house. He loves to play tug and fetch with toy stuffies. He yawns to release his stress/energy excitement and with every yawn he makes the cutest sound.  His back legs have gotten stronger but will need knee surgery on both of his hind legs.  He is the most loving sweetest little man ever. He has a wonderful personality and is so smart.     March 22 intake write up —— Sweet, loving, loyal shadow, lap dependent 3 year old Maltipoo needs a good home with a person who works from home or is retired.  This young boy has not been treated kindly in his early years but is willing to forgive and forget for a loving home.  He has come into his foster home eagerly accepting love, food, training, and lots of lap time.  He would do well as the only dog or with others. He ignores the foster cats, and is respectful of the dogs in his foster home.  Kiko came with issues with his back legs in that they are weak and need physical training to make them stronger and stretch his tendons that are too short from being in a too small crate for too long. He is also severely underweight but eating well and gaining weight and strength every day.     His beginning story can be seen on Facebook StreetPaws.org page.  https://fb.watch/GgY3RjI5wL/?       You can fill out an adoption form by going to StreetPaws.org.   Adoptions are limited to an approximately 150-mile radius from Locust Grove, GA, certain circumstances may allow exceptions.  To apply to adopt this pet, please fill out a Preliminary Adoption Application at    https://www.streetpaws.org/home/adopt.       This application does not commit you to an adoption. Story
My husband and I adopted Cashew 5 years ago. He has been such a wonderful addition to our family. However, we’ve now had a child with another on the way and our careers have only gotten busier. We know he deserves to be with a family that can devote more time and attention to him. Personality wise, he is very easy going and a big cuddle bug. He likes to take short walks and is completely fine with other dogs, or even going to daycare. He has also been great with our 3 year old. He’s had no major health problems or behavioral issues.
