Story
A SHY GIRL WHO'S BLOSSOMING: Approx. 6 years old / Approx. 14 lbs. Hi, I'm Virginia! I came to Mostly Mutts when I found myself in need of a new home. I was adopted for a couple of weeks, but it wasn't a good fit, so I'm back with Mostly Mutts looking for my new family. I hope to meet them very soon and start living a great life together!  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met dogs at Mostly Mutts and have made a great friend or two that are around my age and size, and we just love playing together in the MM play yard. I however didn't like the energy of a puppy, so if you have a friendly playful dog at home perhaps around my age and size, let's meet! / Cats unknown. / Best no kids. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: The shelter is a lot for me to take in but I'm doing my best! I like it when the volunteers take things slowly with me and let me get to know them—then I'm just a love. I really enjoy my trainer and like spending time with her—she's a good leader. Speaking of a good leader, that's what I would like. Please don't treat me like a baby and carry me around as I love being a dog and want to be part of the whole family! I showed guarding behaviors of my person in the home of my temporary adoptive family while being carried. My trainer has worked with me on this, so just ask about that please and they will be very happy to share successful strategies for managing guarding behavior. I think I would be happiest in a calm and low traffic home without a lot of visitors. / Energy level: 3-5 at the shelter, but I think it will increase once I'm settled in my new home.     • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and look forward to learning a lot with my trainer! Check back soon to see what I've learned and let's continue my training with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! / I'm doing well in my crate at Mostly Mutts and slept well in it at my former home in their bedroom at night. They said that it seemed to be my decompression place—so I liked it. / I'm working on my potty manners, so I'll need my family to help me finish this training up.    • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love belly rubs and gentle head scratches! I also really enjoy when people talk gently and give me a little extra time to get to know them. Once I'm comfortable with you, I love following my people around and being close by. I'm sure we'll discover lots more things we like doing together in our new home! / Being rushed scares me, so just give me some time, and like all dogs, I'm sure I wouldn't like it if I didn't get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I needed a dental cleaning and thankfully, Mostly Mutts has done that for me.   I'm a little sweetie looking for a wonderful family that will help me continue to blossom! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I'm located in Kennesaw, Ga.  September 24, 2026, 7:18 am

Story
A ‘SPECIAL NEEDS’ CUTIE PIE:  Approx. 8 years old / Approx. 15 lbs.   Hello - I’m Neo! I was found on some railroad tracks by a good Good Samaritan.  After completing my stray hold through animal control, I spent a couple of weeks with them, during which I was treated for pneumonia.  Wanting me to have the loving home I deserve, they helped me make my way to Mostly Mutts, where I’ve continued receiving great care.  My medical needs have been addressed, and while I’m still a special needs pup, I’m doing much better.  I will need ongoing medication and care, but I’m so happy that I’m ready to find a loving home of my very own! (See below for medical details.)     • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I get along great with the pack of pups in my current foster home – from the Chihuahua to the Shepherd mix – we are good buddies!  If you have a nice doggy at home, let’s meet! / Though I initially gave chase to the kitties in my foster home, I’ve learned not to do that and am now pretty calm around them.  All cats are different, so I’m not sure how I would be with other kitties. / I would do best with older children.  Smaller children that may spook me could risk a nip.  So, let’s meet if you have older children. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a sweet guy with a friendly and gentle nature.  A happy little guy who loves to be with my people, I will also take time to sprawl out on the floor and look out the windows.  I can sometimes be a little vocal when I am happy and then I like to roll around on the floor and be silly – what fun!  Sometimes I’m up for snuggling in a lap, while other times I prefer just being near you on the floor.  I’m a delightful and happy little guy.  / Energy level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  In my foster home, I’ve learned what ‘harness’ means when this is put on or taken off (I should only use a harness for walks and not have a collar attached to a leash due to my trachea challenges. In my foster home, I ‘come’ when called, and ‘go out’ when we go outside.  I formerly knew the ‘sit’ and ‘leave it’ commands, though I haven’t practiced those in a little while.  Mostly Mutts offers free lifetime training classes for all their adopted dogs, so let’s continue my training together. / I’m not crated in my foster home. / My potty habits are a work in progress.  I do pretty well on a schedule and have improved at going while on a leash.  So, please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can continue to improve. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love my walks and have a fun little prance in my step.  Toys are fun, and I enjoy shaking them playfully or carrying them around.  I’m more energetic outside and love to play outside with my people – but shouldn’t do much outside time when it’s very hot and humid due to my health challenges. / I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love and attention. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I have severe collapsing trachea (so I do cough a good bit) as well as an enlarged heart.  I’m on a few prescription medications for these conditions that I’ll need to stay on for life.  Please ask about this so the folks at Mostly Mutts can fill you in on everything.  You may notice from my pictures that I have some tartar and yellowing of my teeth, but I cannot have a dental cleaning due to my trachea and heart challenges, but there are over the counter things you can try with me for dental health – once your vet approves them of course.  Ask about me to learn all the things I’ve overcome as I continue to be a wonderful companion.  I am looking for a loving home with a wonderful furever family that will love me and continue to meet my needs!  My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  September 24, 2026, 7:18 am

Story
Penelope Lou is eligible to foster-to-adopt so you can get to know one another before making it official! This 11-year-old Bichon Frise mix may be small at 8 pounds, but she has a gigantic personality. Penelope is a beautiful little lady with plenty of sass and charm. She’s incredibly sweet once she warms up to you, but she does have her triggers and will do best in a home without small children. Penelope would thrive in a home with a secure fenced yard and a family experienced with small dogs who know how to handle a little attitude. Once she trusts you, she’ll shower you with love - and maybe a little bossiness too! Penelope Lou currently weighs about 8lbs., is approximately 11 years old (est. birth date 02/01/2015), and her adoption fee is $185. Penelope Lou has been spayed, is up to date on all vaccinations & preventatives, and is microchipped. If you want to know more about Penelope Lou, please complete a survey at www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FKDS/Dog. After submitting a survey, an adoption counselor will contact you within 72 hours to give you more information about the dog you are interested in adopting and to arrange for you to meet. You must be at least 21 years of age to adopt.

Story
Cooper is a 5 year old 13lb happy, male bichon. Some of his favorite activities include: spinning in circles, exploring the toy box for the PERFECT toy, eating milkbones, and getting zoomies outside. Although he can be shy at first, Cooper warms up when he feels safe and comfortable. He loves being around other dogs, and he is friendly with cats. He is good with children and appreciates all the love and attention he can get! At this time, he is working on leash manners, potty training, and going up/down stairs. With leash walking and stairs, these are completely new for Cooper, so some extra patience will be needed while he fully figures this out. He's about 65% potty trained at this point., but he's working hard on this every day.  He is fully crate trained.  He has a lot of life to live and love to give! He is excited to find his forever home.  Cooper is fully vetted, parasite free, and neutered. He is being fostered in Jefferson, GA. To meet him, complete an adoption application at dirtroaddoggiesrescue.org.  Adoption contribution $350. ##2816190##
