Adorable Max is a 2 and a half year old male Bichon Frise. Here is our story on Max and what we have learned about him in the few months we have had him. Unfortunately for Max, he came to us in the Fall when his 82 year old owner could no longer take care of him Sadly, Max came to us completely terrified from losing his home and he was not socialized very much due to his owner’s age, staying in the apartment most of the time. He was adopted by us to a wonderful family and stayed with them a few months.... we came to realize that their active lifestyle was too much for this little guy and he acted out. We have kept him off the adoption list so he could decompress and we could learn his quirks to determine how best to place him. So, what have we learned? 1- Max excelled when we put him with another small dog for a few weeks and he really came out of his shell.... so we are requiring that he goes home to a house that has another outgoing small, friendly dog. 2- Max needs a calm situation without too many people coming and going and we will not put him with a family with small children or grandchildren. A simple routine would be wonderful for this little guy. Max has come a long way and has learned 'touch' for a cookie and to meet new people. Sometimes he brings his favorite toy to 'touch' instead of a cookie. He loves his crate and never ever has accidents. Max will require regular grooming to keep his curls under control. Max is available to the right situation.... we will be picky where he goes so it works for all involved. Meet the cutest couple of lovebirds ever looking for a home together!Mr. Blizzard is 11 years old and his lady friend Sunshine is 9. They ended up in a crowded local shelter when their owner was hospitalized and no longer able to care for them. They are lovely lovable little companions who dance around for attention and are devoted to each other. They have funny little personalities and a quirky relationship like a little old married couple. They do need some work on housebreaking- Sunshine is pretty good about using wee wee pads but they will need some confinement and struction.Shortly after their arrival, we noticed Blizzard straining to urinate and having bloody urine... he needed urgent surgery to remove a bladder stone that was at risk of causing and obstruction. He has recovered nicely and is on a prescription urinary diet longterm to help prevent bladder stones from recurring.
