Story
Meet Gangi — A Quiet Soul Ready to Bloom 🐶 3 years old | Spayed Female | Bichon Frise × Poodle (Bichon) Mix | 8.8 lbs Gentle, soft, and a little shy — Gangi is a beautiful 3-year-old "Poochon" (Poodle × Bichon mix) who is just beginning to discover what a peaceful, loving life can feel like. She weighs 8.8 lbs (4kg) and came from one of Korea’s many illegal puppy mills, where she was kept as a breeding dog. Her past is unclear, including whether she gave birth, but what’s certain is that she never knew kindness — until now. After her rescue, Gangi underwent surgery on her right patella (kneecap), and is now doing well. She’s fully vaccinated, spayed, and currently thriving in a quiet foster home where she’s learning that people can be gentle and the world doesn’t have to be scary. 🐾 What makes Gangi special? Gets along beautifully with other dogs and even cats Pee pad trained and also does well with outdoor potty Very low shedding (rating: 1/10) No separation anxiety and never barks unnecessarily A calm, peaceful presence — the kind of dog who quietly watches before slowly coming closer While she loves playing with other dogs, she’s still shy around humans — especially new people. She’s not aggressive at all, just cautious. She’s currently learning how to walk on a leash and would thrive with a patient adopter who can give her the time and space to blossom at her own pace. If you have a gentle heart and a quiet home, Gangi might just be the soul you’ve been waiting to meet.

WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.NAME: MistyBREED: Bichon FriseDOB: Dec 30, 2019 (6 years)Home Recommendation: Misty would do best in a calm, loving home where someone is home more often than not, as she does experience some separation anxiety. Because she sometimes has difficulty with stairs and occasional walking, her adopter should be comfortable picking her up when needed thankfully, at just 10 pounds, she is easy to carry. Misty would likely thrive in a home with other gentle dogs, as she truly seems to perk up and gain confidence around canine companions. A patient, nurturing home with lots of reassurance and companionship would be the perfect match for her.WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Misty spent her entire life as a breeding dog in a puppy mill. When her 'breeders' decided they no longer had a use for her, they planned to discard her. Thankfully, WISE was able to step in and rescue her giving her a second chance to experience the love and warmth of a real home. Now shes ready to start that new chapter!Personality: Misty is a shy little girl with the sweetest heart. While she may take some time to warm up, once she feels safe she is incredibly loving and devoted to her person. She is a very calm dog who prefers a quiet life she mostly enjoys sleeping and relaxing. Her favorite place to be is cuddled up in a cozy blanket or nestled close to the person she loves. She brings a peaceful, comforting presence and would be a wonderful companion for someone looking for a calm, affectionate lap dog.KIDS: Yes, kids 10+DOGS: YesCATS: YesTraining: Misty uses her crate only at night, and it works best when the crate is placed near your bed. With that setup, she is able to settle and typically sleeps through the night. She understands the idea of going to the bathroom outside but still needs continued consistency and routine. She walks at a slow, senior-like pace and can be a bit stiff, so she is not a dog who will require long walks. With patience and gentle guidance, she will continue to make steady progress.Visit WiseAnimalRescue.org to fill out an adoption application.Adoption areas include: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.

Outside, hes still a bit unsure of his surroundings, so a calm and patient home would be best for him. His ideal family will give him the time and reassurance he needs to adjust at his own pace, gently encouraging him to explore the world beyond the front door. A quiet home with a predictable routine and access to a safe outdoor space would help him continue to build confidence and feel secure.Personality: Dentyne is curious and slowly becoming more confident, exploring new spaces on his own. With gentle encouragement and patience, hes sure to come out of his shell and show more of his brave personality as he adjusts to his new surroundings.KIDS: YesDOGS: YesCATS: YesTraining: Dentyne sleeps comfortably in his crate both at night and during the day. Hes still learning how to walk on a leash and will need continued training and patience in that area. Hes doing well with potty training, mostly going on the pad with just a few accidents as he continues to learn.WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Dentyne were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.Visit WiseAnimalRescue.org to fill out an adoption application.Adoption areas include: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Baby Girl and Jeter came to us in pretty difficult condition when they were surrendered to local animal control when their owner was being taken into hospice care. Their loving owner did her very best to take care of them and we know by their personalities that they were loved and cherished. Initially, we thought they were much older, but after grooming and proper dental care, we now believe they are about 8 or 9 years old. Baby Girl is 14 pounds and Jeter is only about 7 pounds - so they are apartment appropriate.  They have plenty of energy and are so affectionate !!  Baby Girl and Jeter are bonded and MUST go together.  Jeter is now neutered and just had a dental. Baby Girl is spayed and had a dental too, and both are current on shots. If you're interested in being their happily ever after, please complete an application at njshpetrescue.org Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 21, 2025, 11:56 am
