She was surrendered when a breeder was closing her breeding operation. She is learning what life is like outside of a breeding facility, that play yards are fun, that playing with her kennel mates is fun, that people are not necessarily scary anymore. Good food and sunshine and only kindness is now a way of life. Florence is a sweet 13lb female Bichon who came to us when a breeder decided to stop breeding. She spent much of her early life in a kennel, but since arriving at Camp Papillon she has made wonderful progress and continues to learn what being a loved companion is all about.   Florence now enjoys play yards, spending time with her dog friends, and has learned that humans are kind. She is walking on a leash and is discovering how nice treats, gentle affection, and a routine can be. While she can still be a bit spooked by unfamiliar noises, she gains confidence each day with reassurance and patience.   Florence does well keeping her space clean during the day, but nighttime can still be a challenge. Long evenings at the shelter sometimes lead to messes. With a consistent routine and understanding home, she will continue to improve.   Florence is looking for a calm, patient household that understands she is still learning how to be a house dog. Story
It is believed that J.D. was dumped after having been neglected/mistreated. He was missing most of his fur when found as well as having injuries and scabbing. After several treatments, his fur is growing back nicely. He's estimated to be 5 years old. He has a cataract in 1 eye probably due to trauma. He is now neutered, chipped, & up to date on vaccines. He is very food motivated. Good on leash. Loves to ride in the car. Has never messed in the house but probably due to other dogs in the foster house he sometimes marks so wears a belly band. Getting better. More than anything he is a smart, sweet, loving dog. Might be best as an only dog. Might be best not to be around kids, but have no way of knowing how he would be. Fenced yard would be a bonus but not a deal breaker.
