Story
Meet Kongo—a resilient, affectionate, and fun-loving pup. This handsome cutie came within moments of losing his life at a high-kill shelter in Houston, but thankfully he was given a second chance—and he’s been making the most of it ever since.Kongo is the definition of a people dog. He absolutely thrives on love and attention, and he’s happiest when he’s by your side soaking up affection or joining in on playtime. Whether it’s a lively game of tug-of-war, chasing after a ball in a game of fetch, or squeaking his favorite toy, Kongo brings joy and enthusiasm to everything he does.He adores both adults and children and is always ready to make a new human friend. This sweet boy does have an underdeveloped right eye, which he cannot see out of, but it doesn’t slow him down one bit. His vet has confirmed that it doesn’t need to be removed. In his foster home, Kongo has been doing wonderfully. He is crate trained and making great progress with housetraining. He is selective with other dogs—particularly other males—he would thrive as the only dog in the home or with a compatible female companion. He’s also proven to be respectful of cats who are comfortable around dogs.Kongo would do best in an active home where he can enjoy daily walks, outdoor adventures, and plenty of playtime. Most of all, he’s looking for a family who will shower him with love and make him a true part of their lives.Name: KongoBreed: Bichon Frise/Poodle   (Breed mix is not guaranteed-no DNA testing done).Sex: MaleAge: 2 years  (estimated)Weight: 16.0Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: YesGood with Dogs: yesGood with Cats: YesAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)                       $100-150 additional mandatory quarantine fee for Massachusetts residents.Location of dog currently:     Texas  IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Okay, listen.Lady is NOT the easiest dog - at least, not at first and not for the wrong person. You give her an inch and she takes a mile. If she senses hesitation or fear, she WILL take advantage of it and act out until she gets her way like a literal toddler. She will probably get snappy if you push her boundaries too hard and too fast. She will steal the bracelets right off of your wrists. She sheds. She will try to take you out at the kneecaps. She's partially deaf. She's A LOT.But the way this dog LOVES? It's with her entire heart and soul. She loves hard. She loves fiercely. She is loyal and devoted and will worship the ground you walk on. No one will EVER be happier to see you than she is. She's the kind of dog that will imprint on you like a baby duck. She's the kind of dog that you can call your soulmate because the connections she makes with people? Unmatched. Once this girl bonds with you? There's no breaking that bond. She needs time and patience. She's already been done the disservice of being promised time and patience only to be given up on less than 24 hours later. She doesn't need that kind of heartbreak again. If you're firm and consistent with her and you make it clear that you won't tolerate her shenanigans, guess what? HER SHENANIGANS STOP. She's a boundary-tester. She's an envelope-pusher. But if she respects you and you respect her? She stops testing you.Lady Luck is good on a leash and LOVES her walks. She's a fetch expert and pretends she's not. She's good with other dogs and wary of cats. She does not like kids - she's done her time with them and she's over it (probably why she doesn't like her mustache/beard touched at first). She loves car rides and she loves water. She's a 35lb bichon mix. Mixed with what? Sunshine, that's what. Literally all Lady Luck wants is to be with her person. That's it. She does have some separation anxiety which may dissipate as she starts to settle but crate training is recommended. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Story
Berries n Cream is a lovely pup who is spending time in a foster home as we work on managing her KCS, also known as dry eye`. She is a sweet girl who is very wary of being touched around her eyes and face due to her eyes not receiving the treatment she needed. Berries is tolerant of other small, calm dogs and would do well in a quiet home. She recently had special implants put into her eyes that will dispense medication that will help limit the amount of medications she will need temporarily while we desensitize her to being touched around her face. She is already responding well to treatment and allowing her foster to touch around her face more. We hope to transition her to an adopter who will take this over. She will need lifelong eye drops, so needs an adopter with a good relationship with their veterinarian to continue her eye treatment. If you are interested in taking over her foster care as a trial adoption, please reach out to us at forms@lowellhumanesociety.org for more info.

Story
Meet Moxie! Moxie is approximately 4 years old, 26 lbs currently and she has some Boston Terrier and Bichon Frise in her mix! She was a local surrender due to persistent Urinary Infections which we have treated and it is now under control. She will need to be continue to be on a urinary diet and meds. In her local foster home, she is doing great with house training. She is reactive on leash so needs a fenced in yard or a very quiet walking route. She could go to a home with teens and needs to be an only dog. She has not been exposed to cats. Her foster says, `Moxie loves everyone she meets. She is super smart, comes when called, holds eye contact when dinner is placed down and waits for ok before diving in. She is the most patient girl. Super smart Moxie will quickly learn whatever she is taught. She is the best companion, affectionate and funny. She’ll follow you everywhere and will happily accept affection all day long!`She is available for adoption in Hopkinton or Newton by appointment. Please fill out an application on our website at https://www.browndogcoalition.com/adoptable as a first step.-Dogs may not be given as gifts or surprises.-Please thoughtfully discuss with your entire household the physical, safety, financial and emotional responsibilities of a dog BEFORE applying to adopt.- More information about our adoption process, application and adoption fees can be found at browndogcoalition.com

Story
Sweet P is exactly what her name promises… a gentle, quiet little soul who just needs a bit of time to feel safe—and when she does, her sweetness will shine.Sweet Pea’s journey has been a long one, but every step has brought her closer to the dog she was always meant to be. Rescued from a hoarding situation in Virginia Beach, this gentle girl spent the last four years in a dedicated foster home learning how to trust, how to feel safe, and simply how to be a dog. And today? Mission accomplished.Sweet Pea may never be the kind of dog who climbs into your lap demanding cuddles, but she has her own quiet, beautiful way of loving. She enjoys being near her people, happily sharing space and companionship while observing the world around her. Human touch can still make her nervous at times, so she needs someone who understands that trust is something earned gently and patiently. Every little step forward with Sweet Pea feels incredibly rewarding. What truly brings out her confidence is other dogs. She absolutely needs a calm, confident canine companion in her forever home — another dog helps her feel secure and shows her that the world is okay. She takes her cues from her dog friends and thrives when she has them by her side.Sweet Pea loves her daily walks and is wonderful on leash. Exploring the neighborhood gives her joy and helps build her confidence even more. She is crate trained and feels safest in a wire crate where she can see both her humans and her dog companions nearby. She is also potty trained, though occasional accidents can happen if she becomes startled or nervous. A steady routine and patient guidance will help her continue to succeed. While car rides are still unfamiliar territory, Sweet Pea continues to surprise everyone with how much she grows and learns, so her future is full of possibility. And with that adorable face and a little brushing here and there, she’s truly a tiny beauty.Sweet Pea would do best in a calm, quiet home without young children — a home filled with patience, stability, and kindness. She asks for very little: a safe place, understanding humans, and a confident dog friend to help guide her. In return, you’ll get the privilege of watching a once-frightened soul continue to blossom. And who knows? Maybe someday Sweet Pea will decide snuggles are nice after all. But if she does, it will be on her terms — and that will make it all the more special.Name: Sweet PBreed: Maltese/Bichon?
