Story
Cider is the kind of puppy that reminds you how much confidence can grow when a dog finally feels safe. When she first arrived, she was terrified of everything. New people, new dogs, new environments—it was all overwhelming for her. Now? She’s a completely different puppy. Cider is a happy, playful, confident 5-month-old girl who has discovered how fun life can be. She loves other dogs and thrives around them. Wrestling, tug-of-war, zoomies—if another dog wants to play, Cider is ready. She would especially love a home with a playful adult dog that can continue helping guide and teach her. She’s also good with cats and has adjusted beautifully once given time to settle in and learn that she was safe. Cider is the perfect example of a puppy who just needed confidence and stability to let her real personality come out. Good fit: someone wanting a playful puppy who enjoys other animals and would benefit from having a confident dog friend in the home. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Fully vetted (spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested) Adoption fee: $550 (includes transport + vetting) Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ, VT Think you might be a good fit? Story
Buck was almost another forgotten shelter dog. I first saw his picture at a very high-kill shelter that euthanizes dozens of dogs regularly. He was severely underweight, scared, and looked like he had nearly starved to death. His surrender notes said his owners dumped him after he killed a chicken. Considering the condition he was in, it is obvious that he acted out of desperation and hunger. I kept telling myself I could not take in another brown Heinz 57 dog. But I could not stop thinking about him. Today, Buck is healthy, safe, and finally able to just be a dog again. Buck is about 2 years old and around 40 pounds with a people-focused, affectionate personality. He absolutely loves attention and wants to be near his person whenever possible. Despite everything he went through, he has remained incredibly social and loving with humans. He also does very well with other dogs overall. He can occasionally act a little dominant with other males, but nothing concerning or over the top. He settles well into group dynamics and enjoys being around other dogs. Buck has a very balanced energy level. He enjoys hanging out, exploring, getting attention, and simply being included in daily life. Now that he no longer has to worry about survival, his personality continues to open up more and more. Dogs like Buck are everywhere in overcrowded shelters right now. Good dogs. Normal dogs. Dogs that simply ran out of time, resources, or human compassion. Buck was lucky enough to make it out. Good fit: someone wanting a loyal, affectionate companion that enjoys being close to their people and included in everyday life. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Story
Our boy Ringo is the star of the show with every spotlight shining directly on him. He is an amazing little bundle of puppy energy that captivates and audience. He is a young 6-month-old black mouth cur mix weighing around 40 pounds. That currently puts him in the medium size category, but he is sure to grow and with that anticipation, he is estimated to be a large size dog of anywhere over 60 pounds when he is fully grown. Ringo has lots of puppy energy to play with his friends or just hang out with the crowd. He does well in the company of other dogs and also children. His position on cats is unknown at this time since he has not had the opportunity to meet a cat since coming into rescue. What is known is that Ringo is a ball of fun and very entertaining. He is a fun combination of puppy antics, lively expression and quiet snuggles. Those attributes are a winning combination. He is working to make life easier for himself and his family, so he is putting in the hard work of learning his house, crate and leash training. He knows success is around the corner with his family assisting him along the way. Are you ready to bring home your next best friend? Take a long look at Ringo and see if opportunity is knocking for you to take him into your life.* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Ringo is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us.If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.June 9, 2026, 7:28 am

Story
Available in TX, NE and the PNW! Meet Rover – Your Next Adventure Buddy! Rover is a handsome 2-year-old Black Mouth Cur with a heart as big as his love for adventure. Picked up as a stray at just 6 months old, Rover has come a long way and is ready for a forever home that understands him and lets him shine. He has a natural affinity toward women and can be cautious with men at first; it took his foster dad a couple of weeks to earn his trust. Because of this, Rover needs a patient, understanding adopter who will allow him the time and space to feel secure and build confidence. He truly thrives in a calm, steady environment where he knows what to expect and can relax. Once comfortable, Rover’s personality blossoms. He loves belly rubs, happily rolls over for attention, and is generous with sweet kisses. He absolutely loves other dogs and would do wonderfully as an only dog soaking up all the attention or with a playful buddy who enjoys romping and wrestling. Fetch is one of his favorite games, and he’s even used to running alongside someone riding a bike. Rover loves water—lakes, pools, or splash time on a hot day—and would make an excellent hiking or outdoor companion. He has lived peacefully with cats and chickens, rides beautifully in the car, is leash trained, and fully potty trained. Because he can scale a 6-foot fence, supervised outdoor time or a secure yard is required. If you’re looking for a loyal, athletic, affectionate companion, Rover may be your perfect match. He is being fostered in a home in Seguin, Texas. In state adoptions are $250. He can be transported out of state for an additional $300. To see more pictures and videos, copy and paste this link. To apply directly for Rover click the Apply for Adoption button. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-418 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy's team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle your new family member into your home.
