Pluto Mars is with our partner rescue in Louisiana but hoping to come to NJ soon. We do offer a foster to adopt trial for approved adopters! Pluto Mars is described as a big goofy pup who will win you over with his puppy dog eyes! He was taken in by a kind family was not taking proper care of him. When he grew too large for their care they asked for our partner rescue's help. He loves all dogs but would do best with a dog his size since he doesn't know his strength. Pluto Mars knows basic commands. He would LOVE another dog his size to play with. Pluto Mars was cat tested and did OK but he doesn't live with cats so we aren't certain how he would do in a home with them. Pluto Mars is fixed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. He tested negative for heartworm. Pluto Mars' adoption fee is $550. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home. How to Adopt Me! I adopted her from Petco in Union Square when she was 5 months old. She is currently 7 months and still teething. She is crate-trained and potty-trained, but not 100% house-trained yet. She is very sweet, not at all aggressive, and very loving and loveable. She's strong and has A LOT of energy and she does not have very good leash manners yet. She pulls a lot, but has been improving with some training. She knows the commands: sit, stay, and touch. She bites her leash because she is teething, but chew toys help. If you give her a chew toy before you put the leash on her, that helps. Sometimes she likes to bring the toy with her outside.

Pretty girl Starla wants to shine her light in her new forever home! Starla is a 10 month old medium mixed breed and weighs 35 lbs. Starla is dog-friendly and enjoys being a playful puppy with her furry friends. Starla is super social and friendly when meeting new people, too. She also loves cuddling and car rides. She is the perfect age to learn new cues – but will gladly show off her “sit” for a toy! Starla loves her toys very much and is very adorable while playing. Starla does not, however, like it when the toy she is focused on is taken from her, but when you’re only 10 months old and having never known consistency, who knows when the next time you’ll get a toy again? She previously lived with a cat, but did not have much direct contact with it. Starla (known as “Scrappy Doo” at the shelter) was found as a stray prior to her stay at the ACC, adopted out for a couple months, but sadly returned again. At the over-crowded city shelter, returned dogs are not given much of a chance before they are given a euthanasia command. Luckily, Starla’s foster saw her in time and knew that this beautiful young lady deserved a proper chance at a life. Starla is a good girl who is now blossoming into the perfect companion with the help of her fosters. Starla is fully vetted, spayed, micro chipped and ready for her forever home! If you look back to earlier pictures of Santino, it's obvious that he is growing up with us. Growing up in a shelter is no way to grow up! Santino is 2 years old, if that, and he needs a stable and loving home already. He arrived in August of 2023 as a stray and due to his need for a pet and kid-free home, it's made it difficult for Santino to get discovered. Please don't pass him up! Santino is smart and knows perfectly well to behave, he just needs someone that will direct him. He'll jump and twist and even get a little grabby while playing but he means no harm and if you guide him to behave, he most certainly will. He knows how to walk perfectly on a leash, sit, stay, lay down, and he even takes treats very gently.
