Story
Scared to death….All I had was my sister and people were probably either non-existent in my life prior to Save-A-Pet or even possibly not very nice. Everything was new. What’s a leash? What about toys? Why do they make funny noises? Why do people talk to us in “puppy” talk? The Canine Care staff was persistent and every day they made sure to help me get adjusted and show me what fun could be. I discovered plush toys, I even started “booping” a squeaky toy and then getting a treat. They took me in a little play yard and I got to run around, discovering a new feeling: happiness. I am discovering the world, one puppy step at the time. I also enjoy romping around with other doggies. Who knew life could be so different. I still have a lot to learn and experience and while I’m still cautious with new people, I am excited for my next adventure with a kind, compassionate and loving family.

If you’re looking for sweet instead of rowdy, Frances is your girl. She’s the total opposite of wild and chaotic — calm, loving, and full of gentle affection. OK, she has her fun and cray cray times when she sees you!! :) Frances has truly never met a stranger and believes everyone she meets is (or should be!) her new best friend. Her favorite way to say hello? Jumping up for the sweetest hugs. 💗 She walks beautifully on a leash and is crate trained, making her an easy and well-mannered companion. Frances has been through a lot over the past six months, and she’s finally ready to start the next chapter of her life with a family of her own. Frances would love a yard to explore and kids or a dog friend to play with, but she’s just as happy being the only dog and soaking up all the love and attention for herself. Elena is a dream girl!! She is likely a black mouth cur mix with sugar and spice and everything NICE :) She is extremely loyal and loves getting cuddles from her people. She likes to nose butt your arm for attention, and absolutely loves squeaky toys. She also will just stare at you with her gorgeous, soft eyes, and will you to scratch or kiss her :) She is house trained, crate trained, and good with other animals/children. Her foster has 6 dogs and 1 cat that she gets along with really well; however, it is worth mentioning that she can get territorial in a new environment with other dogs, so it would be best for her to go to an experienced dog home, or as an only dog. Honestly, she can be with other dogs as long as you are the boss and she knows it :) Elena knows how to sit, wait to eat her food until she is told to &"go ahead "She loves kids, and does well with even the littlest ones hugging on her. One of her favorite hobbies is to watch the squirrels in the backyard. She will sit and watch them for hours, if allowed to! Elena is such a good dog, and is ready for her furever home. Would you be willing to give this sweet girl a chance? Zola: protector & sensitive soul Rarely does a gorgeous mix of a dog with such a tender heart survive a history of neglect and abuse, yet emerge so loving, affectionate and dedicated to guarding her household. Zola is one such tale. She was found under a daycare, having given birth to a litter of puppies. Always stunning in looks as a black mouth cut/Dutch shepherd mix (our best guess), she was shut down, shy, wary of raised voices & reaching hands, but never, ever mean. In her foster mom’s home, she has gradually come out of her shell. She now loves being hugged on, petted, brushed. She oh, so gently takes treats. She is great with other dogs, but her favorites to cuddle with are similar to her in size. She is very gentle with children, and extremely emotionally intuitive. She takes “night patrol” duties seriously, having assigned herself the task of ensuring property safety before she settles indoors to sleep. Zola is ready & so deserves a loving furever home of her own. She will make an excellent addition to a family or as a solo dog. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Ocean! Ocean was rescued alongside his mom, Olympia, and five siblings from a homeless camp. Raised with love under the care of his strong momma, he’s now ready to ride the tide into his forever home. Ocean is incredibly smart, eager to please, and quick to learn new things. He already knows his basic commands, walks well on a leash, and has been doing fantastic with his training. His mom and siblings went on to service dog training, successfully graduated, and are now happily living with their handlers — a wonderful testament to the intelligence and potential in this special family! Ocean can be a little shy around new people at first, but it doesn’t take long for him to warm up. In fact, his initial shyness is really the only thing keeping him from being chosen. Once he feels comfortable, his sweet, playful, and affectionate personality shines through. Ocean is a wonderful boy with so much potential and even more love to give.
