Story
If you would like an application or have any questions, please send an email to us at: info@ht-ac.org Alex was rescued from the basement of an apartment building in Hartford, where she was abandoned by her owner who had nowhere to live. She is currently in a foster home in Glastonbury. Alex is a tripod and is missing her right hind leg. It doesn’t slow her down one bit, though! When not in a hurry, she mostly gets around with casual little hops, but she can put in short spurts of speed and has no problem jumping up to her favorite spot on the couch, as you can see in the video. Alex is a very friendly kitty, and settles in after a pretty short adjustment. She absolutely lives for attention and deserves to be doted on and loved by her very own persons. This will be no hardship as she purrs like a diesel engine and she has super soft and plush fur. She just stares at you as you pet her, like she can’t believe she got so lucky that you’re in her life. She is quite talkative, and is very interested in you and your daily life. She also enjoys a little alone time in cozy pet beds or perched where she can stare out a window. She has suffered some type of trauma in the past, and so now she shines best when in a calm, quiet environment. She’s also a little defensive when sharing space with other animals, and will likely be most successful as an only pet. She is 2 years old, and has been spayed, vaccinated for rabies/distemper, microchipped, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV.

Story
VELCRO KITTY WHO LOVES TO CUDDLE DOB 4/1/25 Hey there, everyone! I’m Onyx, a sweet, loving, and very playful Bombay mix fella with copper-penny eyes and a sleek, shiny black-patent leather coat. Bombays are often called Velcro cats because we like to stick so close to our hoomans, and I am always delighted to spend time cuddling with Foster Meowmy any chance I can grab. You see, I have to share her time and attention with my three littermates as well as another litter of four kittens. Here’s the story: My feral momma birthed Obsidian, Jasper, Topaz, and me underneath the seat of an old car parked in a used-car business . Foster Meowmy’s finding us when we were only about three weeks old might never have happened if she hadn’t been trying to rescue the other set of kittens whom another feral momma had birthed outside of Foster Meowmy’s house. The other momma had moved her litter from Meowmy’s yard to inside her neighbor’s car (through the open window, I might add) and ultimately a few doors down to the used-car business. Imagine Meowmy’s surprise when she found not only the kittens she’d been tracking under the driver’s seat but also my litter under the passenger’s seat!! She gathered up both of our "stowaway" litters and carefully placed us in boxes on her porch so that we could safely nurse. Our mommas continued to move us multiple times, and Foster Meowmy always managed to find us and put us back in our weaning boxes. Finally, when we were seven weeks old and could eat on our own, Foster Meowmy brought us all inside to the safe haven of her home where she could care for all of us. She even was the perfect feline Florence Nightingale when she administered antibiotic ointment to some of our crusty eyes. Now that we’re fat and sassy, you can imagine the kitten mayhem that goes on inside our big foster bathroom! All eight of us tumble and pounce, climb and wrestle, and when we’re exhausted, we collapse in a kitten puddle. I love to sleep in the bathroom sink because it’s my favorite “bed” when I need a little “time out” from the kitten frenzy. We’ve all got a little mischief in our genes because we love to escape the foster bathroom so we can play with the resident two-year-old cat and explore Foster Meowmy's bedroom. I love Foster Meowmy and am so grateful that she gave me a chance at the fabulous indoor life of a pampered pet. Now I’m ready to bring my stunning good looks and affectionate cuddling to my forever family. Could that be you? Arrange to meet me today, and if you’re looking for a pair of kittens, please consider adopting me with one of the other seven #car-stowaways. We think it’d be the cat’s meow if we could be adopted together so we could be playmates and cuddle buddies while you’re at work or on vacation. HOPE ID 25-0614-A041 Onyx is currently in the Houston, Texas area but can be transported to this location upon adoption. The $325 adoption fee includes transport, health certificate, spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for FIV/FeLV, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment against fleas and parasites. TUGS ON YOUR HEARTSTRINGS DOB 6/15/22 Meet Taco! This beautiful black kitty was found with a rumbling tummy outside a taco truck — so naturally, her name is Taco! Now safe and cozy in her foster home, Taco is living her best life and enjoying all the good things: soft blankets, chin scratches, and sunny windowsills. Taco is a gentle soul with a sweet personality. She gets along with both cats and dogs, but like any lady with standards, she may need a little time to settle into a new place. Once she does, she’ll reward you with purrs, head boops, and quiet companionship. If you're looking for a classy little foodie with a big heart, Taco might be the perfect match! HOPE ID 24-0309-G058 Taco is currently in the Houston, Texas area but can be transported to this location upon adoption. The $325 adoption fee includes transport, health certificate, spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for FIV/FeLV, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment against fleas and parasites. Story
Meet Petunia! Adoption fee: $249 Adoption Application: copy & paste https://forms.gle/NCYmet7DbsGM6zr36 It was a busy day at a local warehouse when an employee heard the softest little mews coming from inside a stack of pallets. When they looked closer, they found not one, not two… but NINE kittens tucked safely inside! They immediately called our rescue for help, and we brought all these little ones to safety. These kittens appear to be three small groups, likely born at different times, but all found together in the pallets. They’re all healthy, thriving, and absolutely adorable. We have all different colors and personalities—something for everyone! These sweethearts can be adopted in pairs, and we’re happy to help you choose the perfect match based on age, personality, and what you’re looking for. If you’re ready to add a pair of warehouse-cuties to your family, reach out to us! We’d love to tell you more about each one and help you find your perfect kittens. They would thrive in homes where they’ll get plenty of love, attention, and companionship. Adopting in pairs is highly encouraged so they’ll always have a buddy to play and snuggle with, but they can also be adopted individually to a home with another friendly cat. Apply today to give one (or more!) of these sweethearts the forever family they deserve. Fill out an application today and bring home your new best friend—or adopt a pair for double the love! We do offer a discount when adopting more than one pet. We have many adorable kittens to choose from—click our Petfinder link to see the full lineup and find your perfect match: https://www.petfinder.com/search/pets-for-adoption/?shelter_id%5B0%5D=AL450&sort%5B0%5D=recently_added We would love to see these kittens adopted in pairs, as they’re closely bonded and would thrive with a sibling by their side. Having a feline friend can be incredibly beneficial for their social and emotional well-being, providing comfort and support throughout their lives. All pets are microchipped, and the registration fee paid for lifetime. Please copy and paste the following URL for the adoption application: https://forms.gle/NCYmet7DbsGM6zr36 Paws of Dixie Animal Rescue adopts in the New England area.
