Story
SPECIAL RESCUE PLEA FOR A VERY SPECIAL BOY When this sweet Border Collie/Great Pyrenees mix arrived at the shelter with his littermates, no one knew that his journey would be a little different. One by one, his siblings found homes while he remained behind—not because he wasn’t wonderful, but because we were trying to understand why this precious puppy was struggling. After much care and investigation, we now know that this handsome five-month-old boy has Megaesophagus, a condition in which the esophagus does not properly move food into the stomach. Dogs with Megaesophagus require a structured feeding routine and ongoing veterinary support, but with proper management many go on to live happy, fulfilling lives. The good news? This sweet boy is doing well with his routine, and after months of waiting, he is finally ready to find his people. But only the right people.Because he is worth waiting for.And trust us when we say…he is a real catch. He is truly one of the nicest puppies you could ever meet. He loves everyone and everything. Other dogs? Friends. New people? Future best friends. He has a gentle, joyful spirit and a heart that is as big as they come. He is kind, affectionate, and simply a delight to be around. The type of dog who reminds you just how special dogs can be.Everyone who meets him falls in love.He deserves a family that sees beyond his diagnosis and recognizes the incredible puppy underneath. Someone with experience—or someone willing to work closely with a veterinarian and commit to the structure and management his condition requires.Because while we love him dearly, the reality is that the shelter environment is not ideal for a puppy with his specialized needs. We are struggling to provide the consistency and individualized care he deserves, and it simply isn’t fair for him to spend his puppyhood growing up in a kennel. We know his person is out there.Or perhaps a rescue organization willing to give him the chance he deserves. This sweet boy has already overcome so much in his young life. Through it all, he has remained happy, loving, and full of hope. Now all he needs is someone to believe that a diagnosis does not define a dog.Because the very best dogs aren’t always the easiest ones.Sometimes they’re the ones worth fighting for. Please consider opening your heart to this extraordinary puppy. Rescue inquiries are welcomed and encouraged. Let’s find this amazing boy the future he has waited so patiently for.June 20, 2026, 8:03 pm

Story
Meet Salem! Salem is a 2â€Âׁ-year-old spayed female Border Collie/Anatolian Shepherd mix with a remarkable story and an even bigger heart. She and her brother were deeply devoted to their owner during his battle with cancer, faithfully staying by his side and offering quiet companionship through his illness. After their owner passed away, his wife made the difficult decision to surrender both dogs to the shelter. She shared that Salem and her brother were talented escape artists and, after losing the person they loved most, needed a new purpose and more enrichment and mental stimulation than she was able to provide. Salem’s brother has since found a home, but Salem has been patiently waiting since 5/14/26 for her own happy ending.Salem is a fantastic dog who is incredibly sweet and affectionate. She loves to cuddle and is happiest when she has close companionship with her people. While she has no interest in balls or toys, she thrives on connection and enjoys simply being near those she loves.True to her breed mix, Salem can be protective of her perimeter and property, making her a loyal and attentive companion. She would likely do well in a home with a compatible male dog and would benefit from a family that understands the importance of providing enrichment, structure, and meaningful engagement.More than anything, Salem is seeking companionship and commitment. She has already shown how deeply she can love and how devoted she can be. Now she’s hoping to find someone who will offer her the same loyalty and a forever home where she can once again be part of a family.June 20, 2026, 8:03 pm

Story
Georgie is a wonderful companion. She is very active and loves to play. She is good with older children. She is good with some dogs, but not all. She is house trained and knows basic obedience. Currently she doesn’t get along with our older female dog. I’m interested in putting her in a months long board and train before rehoming. At that time the trainer should know more about how she is with other dogs etc.

Story
Cookie is a sweet, smart 5-yo Border Collie. She knows basic commands (sit, paw, roll over, fetch), is fully housetrained She gets along with other dogs and cats (she currently coexists peacefully with a resident cat). Once she knows you, she wants nothing more than to be your gentle, loving "Velcro" shadow.I am reluctantly rehoming Cookie because her previous owners omitted the fact that she struggles with anxiety and escape tendencies when stressed. I use a wheelchair and a walker, and Cookie is quite nervous and unsure around mobility equipment. Because her fear prevents me from safely walking or training her, staying with me is not a safe or viable option.Cookie is grieving her first family of 5 years and needs a patient, routine-oriented home with an experienced herding-dog owner. She panicked and tried to dig under my fence on day one, so she strictly requires a highly secure, physically fenced yard. She is completely non-aggressive, just a sensitive soul needing to feel safe.

Story
Buddy is a 3 year old male border collie/black labrador mix. Buddy was abused in his first home and then abandoned with WAR but under WARs care and attention, he has learned that not all humans hurt. He is listed as special needs because he is not good with children and would be best suited in a family without children and in a home where he has space to boogie! If you are interested in adopting Buddy, please visit the Wilton Animal Rescue and complete an adoption application,https://wiltonanimalrescue.com/adoption-application/ ##2372286##
