Story
Forest is a sweet little medium to high energy Chihuahua and Border Collie mix. He was born around 9/1/2024 and currently weighs 20 lbs. His DNA test came back with 15 breeds and Chihuahua/Border Collie were the highest %'s. Forest is playful, loyal and smart. He likes the company of other friendly dogs and likes playing chase and wrestling with them. He is beginning to enjoy balls and toys and will occasionally play with them. He Iikes chewing on bully sticks and other chew toys and bones. He loves going for walks, hiking and will swim sometimes. In the evenings he enjoys couch time with his humans. He desires to be a large part of his family’s life and likes being included in daily activities. Forest can be shy when meeting new people but has shown he will warm up with slow, calm introductions. He has a tendency to be somewhat timid but his confidence has grown quite a bit in his foster home. Once he is comfortable in a home he is a happy, delightful, playful and cuddly boy. He has a preference for women but does warm up to men in time. Forest is crate trained, walks politely on a leash and is house broken in his foster home. He currently lives with friendly dogs of various sizes and gets a long well with them. He also lives with dog savvy cats but will challenge shy kitties and chase if they run. Children would likely overwhelm him so only dog savvy, respectful kids over 12 are recommended. He would not do well being left home alone daily for long hours. He enjoys a yard and is an alert barker so no apartments for him. Forest would do well in an active home with a confident, playful dog companion to help boost his confidence, help show him the ropes and keep him company while his humans are away from home. He would not do well with an overly dominant dog who bullies him. A person who has the time, patience and willingness to work with a shy dog would be ideal. Forest is a sweet, playful dog who is a joy to foster. He is patiently waiting for his forever home. Please email right away if you would like to learn more about this dog......and visit our website www.siarescuers.org to learn more about our rescue group. Adoption fees range from $350-$475 for dogs. THE DOGS SHOWN ON THE SITE ARE IN FOSTERCARE - WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER TO VISIT. EMAIL is the best way to reach us. We are a volunteer run, very small organization - so please be patient when waiting for a response, but feel free to check back in if you haven't heard from us in a day or so - thank you so much for considering a rescued pooch!

Story
Packer is a puppy Border Collie/Retriever mix who has been with our family since he was 8 weeks old. He is very attached to his family and has been raised with teenagers and a 6-year-old whom he loves dearly. He also loves to play with other dogs. Packer has been an anxious pup since he was young, which has turned into a fear of other people. We attempted training classes, but they were a bit too much for him. We are looking for an experienced adopter who can help him work through these behaviors and find the right environment to thrive.Packer is:• House trained• Spayed/Neutered and microchipped• Good with teenagers and younger children• Social and playful with other dogs• Very loyal and attached to his familyCrate trainedPacker needs a patient home familiar with fearful behaviors. We have reached out for placement help without success and are hoping to find him a safe path forward before he gets older.💰 Rehoming fee: $0

Story
Roxy is a 3 year old, very playful, energetic, border collie and husky mix. We got her from Sacramento SPCA when she was about 5 months old. Roxy has been spayed and is up to date on her shots.Roxy is very fun to have around. She likes to run, yet she always comes back to you no matter how far she has gone. She is curious about everything and loves to explore the world. You can always expect her to be sniffing at the new thing you are looking at no matter whether it is a robot vacuum or an onion. Roxy is a very smart dog. She learned how to do her business outside two days after coming home. She has learned tricks like Sit, Figure 8, Crawl and more. Roxy is a very playful and loyal dog to have. We have had a lot of adventures together for the last few years. That being said, Roxy is an energetic dog. She has been too much for us since the birth of our first child. We have all the dog stuff and a dog trainer that we have prepaid lessons for life, and would help with the transition.

Story
His owner recently diagnosed with dementia and unable to care for him. Originally adopted 2 years ago from Petsmart or Petco. We believe he is a border collie Australian Sheppard mix. He has a great temperament. He has been living with two dogs just fine, I don’t know about cats. He has been around children here and there and did fine. We have him up to date on vaccines, he is neutered. Mellow dog, with a desire to love on his owner.

Story
Barley is a border collie lab mix (we think). He was bought off a homeless person in the area and rehoused with me. We believe that he is around 3 years old. Barley would be best fit for someone that has the time and energy for plenty of play and someone with a decent yard. He is very playful, rambunctious and full of energy. He's a funny guy who knows how to make you laugh. He knows basic commands like sit, lay down, stay/wait and touch. He has his fair share of issues, he is reactive to moving cars and bikes. He warms up to people over time but is so sweet when you get to know him.
