Story
Border Collie/Retriever mix, femaleKC is a Golden Retriever/Border Collie mix and she does every bit of both. She is about 18 months old.  KC was spending her days in a small crate with a family that didn’t want her anymore.  Luckily someone stepped in, and now KC is here.  KC is plug and play.  She is good with kids, cats, everything! She's fantastic off a leash , fetches and she'll bring it back and put out on your hand! I can't say enough good stuff about this young lady. KC has had so little experience in a car, she's very drooley while driving (or flying) But she's quiet and calm about it.   KC is chipped, vaccinated, and will be spayed before being adopted. Story
Border Collie/Aussie mix femaleWelcome Mae! Mae is a Border Collie/ Aussie / kelpie mix. She was intentionally bred by some ranchers and then kicked to the curb at a very young age because she didn’t show working potential. Some former CCHDR adopters got wind of this and took her in temporarily - got her spayed, up to date on vaccines, and then reached out to us for help with placement. Mae is super sweet and friendly with people, kids, and other dogs. NO cats, chickens, or livestock. She’s HIGH energy and intelligent…all the things you’d expect from a dog of this breed makeup. She’s young too - only 9 months old, 30-35lbs. She’s got some manners and basic obedience to learn, but has her wits about her. She just needs a dedicated and training-focused handler to make up for lost time. She is crate trained. Mae is looking to be someone’s pet. She will need an active, breed-savvy home to keep up with her mentally and physically. Do you have what it takes to keep a dog of this caliber fulfilled? If so, send us an application. Story
Hello, My name is Bucky and I'm an 11 month old collie mix puppy looking for my next place to call home. I love to jump and play, toys and chews help me get all my puppy energy out. I have met all kinds of people and even lived with a dog, I am just a pup who's still learning and would do anything for a treat. I'm pretty fast, quite athletic, so no bird friends for now but if you want a buddy to play with I'm your guy. Come stop by Woods Humane SLO if you want to spend time with a cool guy like me, I'd love for a chance to find my next home. Story
Reba is a 4-year-old spayed Border Collie who is friendly but appreciates a slow introduction. She was surrendered through no fault of her own—Reba was being picked on by the other two dogs in the home. Reba has lived only with those dogs and will need slow, thoughtful introductions to new canine friends. While she did chase the cat on the property, a cat-free home or careful management would be best. Reba was gentle and appropriate with her previous owner when introduced to older children. This sensitive girl would do best in a calm, structured home with someone who understands her breed and can help her build confidence. With patience and stability, Reba will likely blossom into a loyal and loving companion.

Story
Hi! My name is Daisy. I am a 3-year-old female, Border Collie Queensland Heeler cross. I was surrendered here to the shelter because I have a passion for herding small animals - cats and small dogs. I love big dogs and have made some friends here at the shelter. At the shelter, I come off as a bit shy and aloof. However, that is probably just because this place is a bit overwhelming. Away from here, I am sure I will open up and be your best companion. I like to take walks - I am a bit overweight and would benefit from a few nice long ones. I also love water - beach trips or any body of water will do. I am crate trained which makes me an easy keeper from the start. Anyway, I am also adorable, as you can see. My profile does say I am not potty trained so we can work on that - crate, walks and treats for good behavior and I will be potty trained quickly- I am a smart and willing girl. I want to be your best friend and will do just about anything to make that happen.

Story
Australian Shepherd mix, femaleWelcome Molly!  Her beauty is unmatched and her spirit even lovelier. She doesn’t know a stranger and touch is her love language.  Her fosters  have taken some time to get to know her and here is what they have to report: Molly is 100% sweetheart. She loves her people to the Nth degree. Scratch that, she loves ALL people to the Nth degree. Arguably maybe too much sometimes. If you get down on the ground, you will have a dog right up in your face, and if you're not careful you're tripping on her. She's moderately treat motivated, but 100% affection motivated when it comes to training. She responds really well to gentle correction. Her paperwork says she's 1 Y, 40lbs but she acts like a big puppy. She's a little ornery, and very bouncy and goofy. She must have at least 10 lbs of 1980's crimped fur in that curled up tail alone. She’s working on leash and house manners and picking things up quickly. She’s bunked up with a few cats and the verdict is still out there as to whether or not we can say she’s bombproof with them. Doesn’t chase the indoor cat but outdoors it’s game on and by that we think she’s just trying to play. She curious and cautious around livestock and managed to be quite helpful to her foster dad in rounding up a stray cow. Molly is located in Templeton, CA. She is microchipped, spayed, and UTD on vaccines. She appears to be an Australian shepherd mix. Story
Cattle Dog mix, maleMeet Rodney!  He came from King’s County along wi3th two other pups. Rodney is around 1 year old, a cattle dog mix.  He is a small/medium sized guy at 35 lbs.   Rodney is very submissive and nice.  He’s sweet and wants to give paw.  He is cautious but great with the entire pack.  He's a combination of respectful and no nonsense! Completely appropriate, he defers to the dogs already here, and gently tells other dogs to step off if they try to steal Rodney's cow hoof!   Check out this beautiful young guy. Dog social. Respectful of everyone! Rodney is a pleasure here. Easy keeper! Rodney is neutered, chipped, and up to date on vaccinations.  Rodney is in Templeton, CA. Story
Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix maleWelcome Maximus MMXXVI, more commonly known as “Max” from City of Tulare Animal Services.    Max is a leggy, 31lb, 2 year old, male cattle dog mix. He found himself at the shelter (December 2025) after his person went to the hospital. Either they never made it out or just never circled back around for him. That said, it’s clear he knows how to navigate the inside of a home. He’s housebroken and knows some basic commands. Max is dog friendly, in fact he was the shelter’s tester dog for the last 2 months so if that says anything about his character. He’s also very people social. Max is a fun guy with a lot of charm and spirit. He’s toy motivated and would make a great sport dog. He’s cat-like in his movements and very light on his feet. When he’s not playing, he’s snuggling (very affectionate, aim to please boy). Max is microchipped, neutered, and UTD on vaccines. Located in Arroyo Grande, CA More photos and updates:  https://www.facebook.com/www.cchdrescue.org/  search in posts and photo albums.
