Story
Tommy is a 1 year old Border Collie mix with bright eyes and a busy brain, the kind of dog who is always ready for the next assignment. He was surrendered for not being the right fit for his previous family, but that just means his perfect match is still out there.Tommy does jump when he gets excited, so he would do best in a home with kids 8 and up who can handle his enthusiasm. He keeps his kennel clean when let out regularly, walks nicely on a leash, and takes treats gently. He is also a big fan of chewing on bones, happily settling in once his energy has had a proper outlet. He gets along well with other dogs but would prefer a cat free home. With structure, activity, and someone who appreciates a smart, active companion, Tommy will absolutely thrive. He is ready to trade “not the right fit” for “home at last.”

Story
Horchata is living in a foster home. Fill out our quick adoption survey on our website to learn more about her and schedule an introduction. Horchata is: Spayed: Yes! Up to date on vaccines: Yes! Microchipped: Yes! Our microchips will automatically register when an adoption is finalized More about Horchata: Housebroken: Yes! Crate trained: She has been doing well with free roam and in her crate when home alone. Leash walking: Doing well so far! Dog social: Horchata has enjoyed playtime with similarly-sized dogs but will try to chase very small dogs. Cat social: Unknown Kid friendly: Horchata would thrive in an adult-only home. While she’s been friendly with children during short visits, she startles easily when woken suddenly so a child-free home might be best. Horchata likes: - Snuggles and giving gentle kisses - Helping you improve your reflexes by reminding you to throw that ball a little faster! - Just being with you, and in a loving comfy home Horchata is a loving senior lady who is just as sweet and refreshing as her namesake treat! She still has plenty of pep in her step, and is very friendly to everyone she meets (especially if they have treats!). She’s fully trained, self entertains and is fine to be left alone! She likes to be next to you on the couch/bed and will bring a toy to you to play with. She’s not bossy in the home (unless she needs to go out) and is a great work from home buddy. She is just a delight! Horchata's adoption fee has been sponsored by a generous supporter, and she is ready to snuggle up with her forever family! Next steps: Email adopt@onetail.org with questions, or submit an application online and we'll be in touch to schedule a meeting: https://www.onetail.org/apply-to-adopt/ *** Our adoption application stays on file for one year and can apply to any dog in our program. Once the app is submitted you will receive an email within 48-72 hours. For additional questions, email adopt@onetail.org ***

Story
Orion is an amazing, affectionate, happy dog. He is house trained and able to roam freely (which really means sleep) while you are gone during the day. He is not destructive in the house, even when left for long periods of time. He loves to be pet and is very gentle when accepting treats. Orion has never met a person who was not his friend. Children and other strangers are able to pet him and he responds happily. While he likes to take walks and run the yard a bit, he mostly prefers to be inside hanging out on his bed or the couch, if permitted. Orion is able to follow these commands consistently: sit, come, off, out. Orion will also follow a "stay" command but is inconsistent. He will know what you mean if you say, "Do you want to go outside?" He understands and will respond to "Do you want to go for a walk," so be careful saying "walk" because he will run toward his leash and the door and be very excited. He gets along well with cats. Recommend slow intro to dogs.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Spirit is a young Border Collie who was adopted recently by her current owner from what that owner describes as 'a bad situation.'  Her owner says Spirit is a lovely dog but is not fitting in with the resident dogs in her current home, and so is available for adoption. While Spirit and the resident dogs in her current home do not get along, this does not mean that Spirit will react negatively to all dogs in general; however, a potential owner should be aware of this and that Spirit may want to be an only dog in her home.  She is accepting of adults and older children, but will chase cats if the opportunity arises.  Since Spirit is living in Kentucky and is not being kept on heartworm preventive, she will need to be tested for heartworm and a potential owner should make this a priority. Spirit's current owner says that she is a 'Shy loving border collie that needs someone who knows how to work with them. Might not like other dogs.' If you are interested in meeting Spirit or learning more about her, please contact her current owner at hatfield.michelle@gmail.comVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 9, 2026, 2:31 pm
