Story
Meet Nova! A spirited and adventurous four-year-old Border Collie/American Pitbull Terrier mix from Waverly, NY, who shines with her sleek black coat accented by touches of white. Nova is a bundle of loyalty, energy, and charisma wrapped in a 65-pound package, ready to leap into the next chapter of her life with a family who shares her love for the great outdoors! True to her Border Collie roots, Nova thrives on activity and engagement. Hiking, swimming, long walks, and her latest discovery—fetch—are her favorite ways to spend the day. If you’re someone who craves adventure and fresh air, Nova might just be your perfect companion! She’s always up for exploring new trails and splashing in a cool lake by your side. Nova has a friendly and social nature when it comes to other dogs. She has done beautifully with her current canine companions and has greeted new doggy friends on outings with a wagging tail and open heart! While she hasn’t been around cats, her new family can introduce her slowly to see how she adjusts. Nova is also great with older children (she currently lives with two boys, ages 11 and 15) and could potentially thrive in a home with younger kids, given a careful and thoughtful introduction. As much as Nova loves playtime, she also appreciates a consistent routine for feeding, walking, and resting, which helps her feel balanced and secure. She’s house-trained, crate-trained, microchipped, spayed, and up-to-date on vaccinations. She knows commands like sit, stay, lay down, and “no feet” (no jumping), thanks to both her two-week professional training program and continued work at home. It’s important to note that Nova has occasionally shown resource-guarding tendencies, such as protecting toys or objects, especially when feeling overwhelmed or confused. She has also nipped in the past, though this behavior has not been seen for months. Nova thrives under the guidance of a calm and confident caregiver who understands her needs and can set clear boundaries using positive reinforcement techniques. For her comfort and safety, it’s recommended to train her to avoid situations that may trigger guarding, such as staying off furniture. Nova’s personality is as dynamic as her favorite hikes. She’s playful, affectionate, and thrives on companionship, but her ideal family will have experience with dogs like her and the time to continue building her confidence. Nova's waiting to explore the world with you, one paw at a time. Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to meet her—your next adventure awaits!

Luckily, Annie escaped without any major injuries and is well on her way to being fully recovered! She is about a year old and we believe she is a herding breed mix. Story
Meet Bella—the four-legged queen of cuddles and fun! Bella is an 11-month-old border collie mix who is hoping to wrap up her first year as a pup with finding her forever family. She is a beautiful mix of black and white with one blue eye and one brown and big pointy ears. Weighing 33 pounds currently, she may grow a little bit more but should stay a medium sized dog. Bella gets along well with dogs and children but has not yet met any cats. Her medium energy level will carry her through fun and exciting play and many other activities that she can share with her family. Walks in the park and strolls in the neighborhood would be a welcomed treat for Bella. She will be happy to share her time with the family that loves and appreciates her. Her house, crate and leash training are all in progress. Bella will keep the faith in knowing that her family will be there to support her every step of the way. Story
This doll of a gal is Mini. She is a sweet Border Collie/Australian Shepherd Mix pup of around 5 months old. She is a great gal with lots of charisma to enchant all that meet her. Her small but mighty size of 30 pounds will increase with the days ahead. Mini could fall into a borderline weight somewhere on the higher end of medium size which is up to 60 pounds to the lower end a large size dog of over 60 pounds. It is certainly difficult to estimate the end result on her size but what we do not need to estimate is her lovely and spirited approach to life. Watching her grow with the love that her family can provide for her will be reward enough for her and for her forever family.Mini is a gal pal to everyone! She can hang out with other dogs, children of all ages and even cats. She will lay down the welcome mat to all that show an interest in friendship. Fun activities of play, running around with others or playing fetch in the backyard will be a delight on every level for Mini. Family and friends are all welcomed with lots of friendly interaction and much tail wagging. All of her house, crate and leash training are in the working stage. Mini is trying her hardest to make a complete success of her skill set and she knows that her family will not let her down. Commitment to training is an essential for Mini to be the best companion possible. Her ambition knows no bounds, and she waits patiently for her dream of a forever family to come true. With great aspirations, Mini will find her way into the place she was always meant to be. Will her place be in your heart and home? *When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine.
