Story
We have made the impossible decision to start looking for a new home for our sweet, goofy Monty boy. With a baby on the way we are unable to give Monty the attention and training he needs. Monty is a 2 year old male border collie/black lab mix. 85 lbs. Neutered, up to date on vaccines.Monty will do best in a single dog home with adults and older teens only. He is good with other dogs but can be protective of toys and treats. He is very active and requires experienced dog owners as ongoing training will be necessary. He is potty trained, crate trained, and knows his basic commands (though, he is stubborn and does not always follow through). Monty enjoys being outside in any and all weather conditions, long (very long) walks, playing with other (big) dogs, snuggling up next to his humans, ear scratches, tearing apart stuffed toys to find the squeaker, and going on car rides. The main reason we are looking to re-home Monty is due to fear based re-activity and resource guarding.

Story
Leela is the sweetest girl who loves to play and cuddle. She is crate trained and house trained. She joined our home May 2024 from her prior owner. Two weeks after bringing her home, signs showed she was losing her sight. The vet confirmed SARDS - Sudden Acute Retinal Degeneration Syndrome. We have confirmed that she cannot see anything - only small bits of light. Her sense of smell is deteriorating as well, so she really relies on her hearing for everything. She needs a home where the owner is home with her the majority of the time and where there are no other animals. She does not get along with any cats or dogs, and I believe that is due to the fact that she simply needs to defend herself since she cannot see.

Story
Jazzy is the kind of dog who brings energy and happiness into your life—without overwhelming it. She’s playful, friendly, and fun, but also has an independent side that makes her easy to live with. Her past isn’t pretty—but you’d never know it. Jazzy is social and confident, great with dogs of all sizes and cats, and naturally fits into whatever environment she’s in. She’ll happily join in on playtime, go on walks, or even randomly take a dip in the pond—then settle down like it’s no big deal. She’s affectionate without being clingy and has that ideal balance people are always looking for but rarely find. Good fit: someone who wants a fun, social dog that adds energy and joy to daily life without being overwhelming or demanding. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Fully vetted (spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested) Adoption fee: $500 (includes transport + vetting) Bonus: Each adoption includes a 30-minute phone consultation with a professional trainer Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ, VT Think you might be a good fit? Story
Alder is basically the dog version of an introvert. Quiet, gentle, low-key, and completely content doing his own thing, Alder is one of the easiest and lowest-maintenance dogs I have ever had in the rescue out of hundreds of dogs. He is around a year old and was originally labeled as a pit bull mix at the shelter when he was younger and still looked like a generic puppy. But now that he is older, it is very obvious that he is not a pittie and instead looks much more like a Border Collie mix. Alder is wonderful with other dogs of all sizes and also great with cats. He peacefully coexists with everyone but honestly doesn’t care much about joining the chaos or playing constantly. He prefers to quietly exist nearby and observe the world at his own pace. He is shy and hesitant with new people at first, but there is not an ounce of aggression in him. He is simply a soft, sensitive dog who takes a little time to feel comfortable. Once he settles in, Alder is incredibly easy to live with. He is not demanding, not hyper, not loud, and not needy. He is the type of dog who quietly becomes part of your daily life without bringing chaos into it. Good fit: someone looking for a calm, quiet, low-maintenance companion who does not need constant stimulation or activity to be happy. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Story
Meet Salsa, a spunky little pup with a big personality! She loves to play outside, wrestle with the other dogs, and has absolutely no idea she's smaller than everyone else. She confidently keeps up with the big dogs and brings endless fun wherever she goes. When playtime is over, Salsa is all about the snuggles. She loves curling up with her people and soaking up all the affection she can get. Salsa is doing well on a leash and is learning her manners. She may pull a little at first, but she quickly realizes that doesn't get her very far and settles in nicely. With a little continued practice, she'll be a wonderful walking companion. If you're looking for a playful, affectionate pup with a fearless spirit and a heart full of love, Salsa is ready to find her forever family! Story
If you are looking for a sweet and oh so lovable boy, take a moment out of your day to learn about Ace. He is a 4-year-old border collie mix weighing around 39 pounds. Ace is looking forward to having a wonderful and loving family to call his own. He is a quiet and shy pup when meeting new people, but he warms up with patience to go at his own pace, kindness and tender loving care. Once he is comfortable, he loves to run and play every chance he gets. A joyful time is in store for all of his friends when playtime is happening. He gets along with other dogs but prefers calm dog friends that will give him space when he's feeling insecure. He may do well with respectful children. He has not had the opportunity to meet cats since coming into rescue. It is unknown at this time if Ace will befriend a cat. If you like a canine companion to go on rides to the store, running errands or a hike to water spot for a swim, Ace is your boy. He does very well riding in the car. He is putting his best paw forward with learning his leash training and is doing a really good job. Ace is committed to make his skill set a success. Ace has worked hard and has achieved success in his house and crate training. Although he is housetrained, it is important to remember that accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. Looking for a pal that will be by your side and has pep in his step? Ace is the sweet and endearing companion who is waiting on you to meet him.* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Ace is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours.
