Story
Leela is the sweetest girl who loves to play and cuddle. She is crate trained and house trained. She joined our home May 2024 from her prior owner. Two weeks after bringing her home, signs showed she was losing her sight. The vet confirmed SARDS - Sudden Acute Retinal Degeneration Syndrome. We have confirmed that she cannot see anything - only small bits of light. Her sense of smell is deteriorating as well, so she really relies on her hearing for everything. She needs a home where the owner is home with her the majority of the time and where there are no other animals. She does not get along with any cats or dogs, and I believe that is due to the fact that she simply needs to defend herself since she cannot see.

Story
We have made the impossible decision to start looking for a new home for our sweet, goofy Monty boy. With a baby on the way we are unable to give Monty the attention and training he needs. Monty is a 2 year old male border collie/black lab mix. 85 lbs. Neutered, up to date on vaccines.Monty will do best in a single dog home with adults and older teens only. He is good with other dogs but can be protective of toys and treats. He is very active and requires experienced dog owners as ongoing training will be necessary. He is potty trained, crate trained, and knows his basic commands (though, he is stubborn and does not always follow through). Monty enjoys being outside in any and all weather conditions, long (very long) walks, playing with other (big) dogs, snuggling up next to his humans, ear scratches, tearing apart stuffed toys to find the squeaker, and going on car rides. The main reason we are looking to re-home Monty is due to fear based re-activity and resource guarding.

Story
Jazzy is the kind of dog who brings energy and happiness into your life—without overwhelming it. She’s playful, friendly, and fun, but also has an independent side that makes her easy to live with. Her past isn’t pretty—but you’d never know it. Jazzy is social and confident, great with dogs of all sizes and cats, and naturally fits into whatever environment she’s in. She’ll happily join in on playtime, go on walks, or even randomly take a dip in the pond—then settle down like it’s no big deal. She’s affectionate without being clingy and has that ideal balance people are always looking for but rarely find. Good fit: someone who wants a fun, social dog that adds energy and joy to daily life without being overwhelming or demanding. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Fully vetted (spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested) Adoption fee: $500 (includes transport + vetting) Bonus: Each adoption includes a 30-minute phone consultation with a professional trainer Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ, VT Think you might be a good fit? Story
Alder is basically the dog version of an introvert. Quiet, gentle, low-key, and completely content doing his own thing, Alder is one of the easiest and lowest-maintenance dogs I have ever had in the rescue out of hundreds of dogs. He is around a year old and was originally labeled as a pit bull mix at the shelter when he was younger and still looked like a generic puppy. But now that he is older, it is very obvious that he is not a pittie and instead looks much more like a Border Collie mix. Alder is wonderful with other dogs of all sizes and also great with cats. He peacefully coexists with everyone but honestly doesn’t care much about joining the chaos or playing constantly. He prefers to quietly exist nearby and observe the world at his own pace. He is shy and hesitant with new people at first, but there is not an ounce of aggression in him. He is simply a soft, sensitive dog who takes a little time to feel comfortable. Once he settles in, Alder is incredibly easy to live with. He is not demanding, not hyper, not loud, and not needy. He is the type of dog who quietly becomes part of your daily life without bringing chaos into it. Good fit: someone looking for a calm, quiet, low-maintenance companion who does not need constant stimulation or activity to be happy. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Story
Meet Salsa, a spunky little pup with a big personality! She loves to play outside, wrestle with the other dogs, and has absolutely no idea she's smaller than everyone else. She confidently keeps up with the big dogs and brings endless fun wherever she goes. When playtime is over, Salsa is all about the snuggles. She loves curling up with her people and soaking up all the affection she can get. Salsa is doing well on a leash and is learning her manners. She may pull a little at first, but she quickly realizes that doesn't get her very far and settles in nicely. With a little continued practice, she'll be a wonderful walking companion. If you're looking for a playful, affectionate pup with a fearless spirit and a heart full of love, Salsa is ready to find her forever family! Story
Meet Thea, a bright and social Border Collie mix who loves making new friends wherever she goes. With her friendly nature and active mind, she is happiest when she has people, playtime, and a little adventure in her day. Thea has a distinctive black and white coat and sparkling brown eyes that perfectly match her personality. At 9 months old and 40 pounds, we can only estimate her adult size. However, we believe she will likely be on the larger side of medium dog size, between 45 and 55 pounds when fully grown.Thea enjoys playing with other dogs and does well with kids. She thrives on activity and attention and would love a home where she can join in on walks, hikes, playtime in the yard, and other family adventures. If left to her own resources, Thea will climb a fence and also chase poultry or livestock which are attributes true to her breed. Because she is a smart and curious young dog, Thea will do best in a home that can keep her engaged and provide safe space to run and explore under supervision. She has not yet had the opportunity to meet cats since coming into rescue, so her compatibility with them is currently unknown. She is working on her young dog basics with learning to walk nicely on a leash. Thea is eager to keep learning and growing alongside her forever family. Thea has stepped up to the plate and hit a homerun with her house and crate training. She is a master at both and looking forward to show off her skills to her family. Although she is housetrained, it is important to remember that accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. All she needs now is an active and adventurous family ready to welcome her home. If you have been looking for the adventure of a lifetime with a warm and happy companion, apply for Thea now.* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Thea is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us.If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.August 16, 2026, 6:17 am
