Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Halo came to us on 11/12/2023, found wandering an area highway, and no one claimed her after she fulfilled her stray hold. She's quite unique, with brown and blue in her eyes, and looks to still be young, likely around a year old. We are baffled to her breed mix but we see possible traces of Australian shepherd with smaller breeds, including maybe terrier and Pomeranian. She could even have some husky in there! She will be vet checked and spayed on Dec. 21st and her fee is $150. Halo is pretty shy when she meets new people and takes some time to warm up. Once she does, she's a hoot who loves to run and play. We think she would do best in a somewhat calm environment. She should be okay with other dogs but we don't know about cats. Kids over 5 would be best. She seems to have had some basic training and is smart and eager to learn. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications can be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 6, 2023, 1:36 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Dani, aka Polly, originally came to us from one of our rescue friends in June 2020. She was found running loose and no one ever claimed her. She looks like a mix of Australian and English shepherd, both of which are very intelligent dogs. Dani does take some time to warm up to new people. Once she does, she is a sweet gal and is very affectionate. She loves to give hugs. She is likely now 4 to 5 years old. She has been vet checked and spayed. Her fee is $125. Dani was adopted for many months and returned recently after her person suffered a debilitating injury and could no longer keep her. She bonds very closely with her person and would make a fantastic companion. Dani would do best in an experienced, ADULT only home. Teens are fine. A person who is very familiar with herding breeds and their personalities would be ideal. She needs someone who is very willing and able to continue with her training. She loves to learn and learns quickly. She does NOT like to be left alone for long hours and does require a lot of physical exercise and mental stimulation. Dani can be hit or miss with other dogs. She has done okay with some male dogs. Cats are a no. A securely fenced yard would be ideal for her. She is not a dog for apartment living. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Argo arrived in November 2022 from our friends at the Rescue Network after he was rescued from a Reservation in South Dakota. He is in the two year age range and does have a lot of the trademark features of mixed breed dogs from Reservations - "Rezzies", as they are affectionately known in rescue. Like many Rezzies, he could be a mix of cattle dog and German and/or Australian shepherd, just to name a few possible options. He's a handsome and very active young dog. He has been vet checked and neutered and his fee is $125. Argo has had some basic training and will require a lot of consistent exercise. This is of the utmost importance in order to keep him well balanced and happy. He is ready for action all the time but gets serious when leashed. He walks on a leash really well! He's an affectionate guy, too, who thinks nothing of climbing into a person's lap if he gets the chance. Argo would do best in a home with a large fenced yard. He's looking for an ADULT only home as he tends to bond very closely to his person and becomes quite protective. No cats for him. He's incredibly smart and would be a lot of fun to train!
