You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lex is an approximately 2 to 3 year old mystery mixed breed who arrived from the city pound on 7/5/2025. This great boy has now been at MCHS for over a year. We're still not sure which breeds are in his genetic makeup, but there could be some kind of shepherd and other herding breeds, like border collie. He has been fully vetted and microchipped and his fee is $150. Lex is a little bit shy at first but becomes a total lovebug within a few minutes. Even though he is an adult, he is playful and has the energy of a young puppy. He will need some basic training but seems very ready and willing to please. Lex will need a lot of exercise to keep him happy and well balanced. We're thinking he would do best as the only dog in the home, at least until he gets some good training under his belt. Smaller animals are most likely a no for him. NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. At just 18 months old and around 40# (plus a whole lot of fluff!), Marco is an adorable Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix (our best guess). He is a loyal, slightly clumsy and utterly lovable Velcro dog, happiest wherever his people are. With lovely medium energy, Marco is always up for playing and doing things with his family. He is equally happy relaxing in the yard, soaking up the sunshine while watching his favorite show, Bunny TV. Cuddling with his humans is another favorite pastime. He discovered the joy of toys, and his goofy play style is downright adorable. Marco can be shy when meeting new people. He prefers to take his time, observe, think things over, and then decide when he's ready to approach. Once he feels safe, his sweet personality shines. Hi there! I’m Buddy, a 2-year-old, 26-pound Border Collie/Aussie-ish mix. Trust me when I say that to know me is to love me. If you’re looking for a sweet, joyful, energetic best pal who comes with plenty of enthusiasm and ready to give kisses, you found him. I'm also rather cute! People are my favorite things, followed by playing with other dogs, toys, treats, and attention. I’m an active guy with a nice “off switch” - while I’m always up for an adventure, I also know how to settle down and enjoy quality cuddle time. In fact, I’m pretty sure I was born to be a lap dog. Just call me Snuggle Buddy! I’d love an active home with people that will keep my brain and my body active: anything you do, I’m happy to join. Spending time together is what matters most. I'm Lassie, a 10-year-old, 48# Border Collie and Australian Shepherd mix (best guess), and I'm proof that growing older means you appreciate the good things in life. My theme song is "Happy" by Pharrell Williams. Once you meet me, you'll understand why! I love a nice, leisurely walk, followed by a fluffy dog bed where I can stretch out and relax. I'm also an enthusiastic fan of pets, attention, and giving kisses to my favorite people. My foster family says I'm the perfect dog! I read the room like a pro: my fun, puppy-like energy comes out when it's time to play. Laying low while you're busy is no problem at all. I'm easy-peasy. My ideal home is peaceful with a family who enjoys staying close to home and believes in getting out for daily exercise. Short strolls are my favorite - I'm an amazing walking companion. Traffic, strange noises, and other dogs do not bother me. My fosters have taken me on outings to a parade and a brewery, and I got an A+ at both events! You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bailey is a 6 year old "mini" Australian shepherd who sadly had to be surrendered on 9/20/2026 due to issues with his owner's rental. He's very shy with new people and tends to bond very closely with someone once he trusts that person. Bailey came to us already neutered and with a small "cherry eye", which his former owner told us developed quite a while ago. Our vet examined Bailey and advised monitoring the eye but not yet surgically correcting it because it's a minor case of cherry eye and a potential operation wouldn't be a guaranteed success. Bailey has now been fully updated on vet work and microchipped. His fee is $150. Bailey is looking for an adult only home in which he's not left alone for long hours. He needs someone who will be patient with him and give him time to adjust. Being brought to the shelter was very hard on him. Once he's comfortable with someone, he's very loving, playful, and loyal. He will require regular brushing to keep him free from matting and tangles. He should be okay with another smaller dog and probably wouldn't mind cats. He's an approximately 7 year old red heeler mix. We were told there could be some corgi in there, but he looks a lot like a purebred heeler. He's a really nice boy! Darrow has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped, and his fee is $150. Darrow lived outside most of his life and was abandoned by his owners when they moved. However, he's pretty well-mannered and keeps a very clean kennel. He's one of the happiest dogs we've ever met! He loves people. He kind of goes with the flow of things. He might need a little basic training and will require regular exercise. A home that has some experience with herding breeds like him would be great. We do think he would do okay with other respectful dogs. Cats? It's hard to say. Kids over 5 would be best.
