Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lex is an approximately 2 year old mystery mixed breed who arrived from the city pound on 7/5/2025. This great boy has now been at MCHS for a year. We're still not sure which breeds are in his genetic makeup, but there could be some kind of shepherd and other herding breeds, like border collie. He has been fully vetted and microchipped and his fee is $150. Lex is a little bit shy at first but becomes a total lovebug within a few minutes. Even though he is an adult, he is playful and has the energy of a young puppy. He will need some basic training but seems very ready and willing to please. Lex will need a lot of exercise to keep him happy and well balanced. We're thinking he would do best as the only dog in the home, at least until he gets some good training under his belt. Smaller animals are most likely a no for him. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 16, 2026, 1:57 pm

Story
Curious. Bouncy. Gentle. Sweet. Brave. Lasso is a handsome, 2-year-old, 38# Border Collie who is learning that the world can be a safe and wonderful place. At first, he may watch from a distance, quietly taking everything in with thoughtful eyes. With patience, consistency, and kindness, you'll witness something truly special. His confidence blossoms, his playful side emerges, and his affectionate heart shines brighter every day. Lasso is the perfect companion for a family that appreciates the intelligence and sensitivity of herding breeds. He enjoys daily walks, romping around the yard, and chasing his canine friends in joyful games of tag. When playtime winds down, you'll find him happily sorting through the toy box or curled up with a Kong. If food is involved, Lasso is all in. Treats are the fastest way to his heart. Lasso is searching for a home that understands trust is mutual, and it is earned with kindness, patience and time. He must have a mature, confident canine sibling in his new home. He seeks out his crate when he needs a quiet place to relax. His ideal family will provide a daily routine, celebrate every victory, and allow him to move at his own pace. Respectful kids aged 12+ could be a good match. A fully fenced yard is required to allow him a safe place to romp and play. He's working on leash manners and basic obedience, making steady progress every day. We think he would be ok with dog-savvy cats. The family lucky enough to earn Lasso's love and trust will discover an extraordinary companion. If you are willing to meet him where he is today and be part of his journey, Lasso promises a lifetime of loyalty, quiet companionship. The incredible joy of watching a once-cautious dog become the very best version of himself is impossible to describe. APPLY to adopt him at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Lasso is being fostered in Minneapolis, MN. His adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. Upon adoption, all of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Story
If you're looking for a best friend who is equal parts adventure buddy and devoted cuddle companion, Sonic might be your perfect match. He is adoring, playful, affectionate, exuberant and effervescent. He loves life, spreading contagious enthusiasm wherever he goes. At 5 years old and 36#, this Border Collie mix knows how to balance his love of activity with downtime. Outside, he's ready to kick life into high gear. Whether he is chasing his beloved soccer ball or heading out for a walk, Sonic loves to be on the go. Back home, he's happy to settle, soaking up affection from his people or enjoying a peaceful nap while they work or go about their day. Sonic is a smart guy, true to his breed mix. He knows basic obedience commands, loves his crate and walks nicely on leash. He won't miss a squirrel sighting, so you don't have to worry about a clandestine invasion! He gets along well with other dogs, spending time with canine friends at daycare or boarding. He's comfortable meeting new people and dogs. We are not sure what he would think of kitties. He is looking for a deep connection with his people. Sonic's ideal family wants a four-legged best friend in all that life has to offer. They enjoy an active lifestyle with plenty of walks and playtime to keep him occupied. He's also proven to be a wonderful family dog, currently living with kids aged 7 and 10. A securely fenced yard is strongly preferred so he has room to stretch his legs and chase that treasured soccer ball. If your ideal dog loves to play and explore as much as he enjoys relaxing together in the evening, and you enjoy giving affection as much as you receive it in return, Sonic could be your perfect match. APPLY to adopt him at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Sonic is being fostered in Minneapolis, MN. His adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax. Story
First, his looks catch your eye. Then you learn about his personality and you are hooked! Blaze is a 54#, 5-year-old Border Collie with a sunny personality and a zest for life that's as bright as a perfect summer day. He thinks every day should include a game of fetch or frisbee and plenty of time spent with his favorite people. Happy-go-lucky, affectionate, and adventurous, Blaze loves being part of the action, whether that's a morning walk, a trip to the park, or a backyard barbecue. His energy level is a wonderful balance: he's always ready for fun and activity, and he's equally happy to relax and enjoy downtime with his family afterward. Blaze would thrive with an active, herding breed-experienced family that appreciates both his intelligence and enthusiasm. He walks beautifully on leash without pulling and is well-socialized in the world. He's crate trained and keeps four on the floor. He knows a few basic obedience commands and wants to learn more. With his smarts, a little time and some good treats, and we bet he can learn anything! A fenced yard would be ideal for Blaze so he has room to stretch his legs and enjoy his favorite games. He can happily live as an only dog or with a canine companion. He is a herding dog, which includes nipping at ankles if given the opportunity. Families with older kids are the best fit no littles, please. He likes to check cats out, but is not aggressive. He could live with dog-savvy felines. Blaze will be an even happier boy when he loses roughly 7-8 lbs. If you're looking for a loyal adventure buddy who will happily join you for all of life's summer fun, and then curl up nearby when the day is done, Blaze may be your perfect match! APPLY to adopt him at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Blaze is being fostered in Clear Lake, MN. His adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. Story
Meet Blaze and Buddy! This adorable bonded pair is looking for a forever home where they can stay together and continue being best friends. Blaze is a Border Collie mix, and Buddy is a doodle mix who will need regular grooming appointments to keep his coat healthy and looking his best. Both boys are around 1 year old, medium-sized, and fully grown. Blaze and Buddy came to us after their owner was no longer able to care for them. They are playful, happy dogs who love being together and would do best with a family that can give them plenty of exercise, attention, and opportunities to get their zoomies out. Blaze has a little more energy and would make a great hiking or running companion, while Buddy is happy to join in on the fun. Both boys walk nicely on a leash, keep their kennel tidy, and are ready to bring lots of love and laughter to their new home. These two are hoping to find a family who will love them both and keep their special bond intact. If you`re looking for two wonderful new companions, Blaze and Buddy may be the perfect match!Adoption fee: $400 (for the pair) + $30 microchip (each) + tax

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Argo arrived in November 2022 from our friends at the Rescue Network after he was rescued from a Reservation in South Dakota. He is about 4 to 5 years old and does have a lot of the trademark features of mixed breed dogs from Reservations - "Rezzies", as they are affectionately known in rescue. Like many Rezzies, he could be a mix of cattle dog and German and/or Australian shepherd, just to name a few possible options. He's a handsome and very active dog. He has been vet checked and neutered and his fee is $125. Argo has had some basic training and will require a lot of consistent exercise. This is of the utmost importance in order to keep him well balanced and happy. He is ready for action all the time but gets serious when leashed. He does pretty well on leash walks and loves car rides. He's an affectionate guy, too, who thinks nothing of climbing into a person's lap if he gets the chance. Argo would do best in a home with a large fenced yard. He's NOT a dog for apartment living. He's looking for an ADULT only, single person home as he tends to bond very closely to his person and becomes quite protective. No cats for him. He's incredibly smart and would be a lot of fun to train! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Volunteer fave in the house! Bram arrived at the shelter on 9/29/2024, after he went unclaimed at the city pound. He's a happy and energetic husky mix with icy blue eyes. We do think he's mixed with some type of herding breed. He's friendly and ready for action at all times. He's also very loving. His size is in the medium range and he's around 3 years old. He has been vet checked, neutered, and chipped. His fee is $150. We're hoping to find Bram a home that has some experience with husky types. They are notorious clowns who love to run! Bram does require basic obedience training and a lot of regular exercise to keep him settled. He loves to play and be with people. He has a tendency to be strong willed so he needs an experienced owner who is ready and willing to work with this. Cats are most likely a no for him. An adult only home would be best and a fenced yard would be perfection. He could do well with a well mannered dog of similar size. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application as been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org.
