Story
Meet Luke and Stephan (pronounced Stef-on)!These two adorable pups came to PCHS from a valued rescue partner. They were part of an unwanted liter and made their way to rescue when they were about 11 weeks old. They have spent several months in shelter, patiently, waiting for a new family to come and choose them. But after weeks of waiting, waiting, and some more waiting, no one has picked either of these boys. In hopes of reaching a bigger audience, these two boys then made their way to PCHS where they are hopeful their luck will change! Luke and Stephan are about 4 months old now, completely vetted, and ready to find their forever families! Their mom was said to be an Olde English Bulldog mix and their dad was a Border Collie mix. Both pups are energetic, friendly, and enjoy getting attention. Like all puppies, they would benefit from puppy obedience training and continued socialization. These boys are playful and would likely enjoy a canine companion in their new home. With spring and summer just around the corner, these two boys would make for excellent walking and adventure buddies! If you think one of these boys is the fit for you, apply online today!Adoption fee is $400 + $30 microchip fee + tax

Story
The Valentine Puppies are about 2 months old and ready to find their forever homes. Their mom was a Border Collie, and while we aren’t sure who dad was, they are expected to grow into medium-sized dogs. These pups are smart, curious, and eager to learn. Like most puppies, they’ll benefit from obedience classes to help them learn good dog manners and build a strong bond with their new families. They’re at a great age to start learning, growing, and becoming wonderful companions with a little time, patience, and training. If you are ready to add a sweet little fur-kid to your family, stop by and meet them today!Adoption fee $500 + $30 microchip fee + tax

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lyra is about 2 years old and looks to be a shepherd/heeler type mix. She was found running loose, held for the LEGAL stray hold, and never claimed. She is very shy but becomes very loyal and loving companion once she's comfortable and secure. Lyra has been vet checked, spayed, chipped, and her fee is $150. Lyra has been adopted a couple of times and returned as she just hasn't been able to find the right fit yet. She is incredibly smart and learns quickly. However she does possess quite a few of the intense traits of a herding breed type dog. She is laser focused and needs both mental and physical exercise. She would love to have some type of job to do and would probably be a great candidate for agility training. She does tend to bond quite closely to one or two people and can be protective and territorial. Lyra needs an ADULT only home. She needs someone who is experience with herding breed types and their quirky personalities. She would love a home that is ready, willing, and able to continue with her training and helping her gain confidence. FENCED YARD needed. Lyra has done well with well mannered MALE dogs who respect her space. She does enjoy playing with other dogs once she's comfortable. Cats? Most likely a no. Cuddling is one of her favorite things. She's also in need of a home in which she won't be left alone for long hours. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications can be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 13, 2025, 3:41 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Argo arrived in November 2022 from our friends at the Rescue Network after he was rescued from a Reservation in South Dakota. He is about 3 to 4 years old and does have a lot of the trademark features of mixed breed dogs from Reservations - "Rezzies", as they are affectionately known in rescue. Like many Rezzies, he could be a mix of cattle dog and German and/or Australian shepherd, just to name a few possible options. He's a handsome and very active dog. He has been vet checked and neutered and his fee is $125. Argo has had some basic training and will require a lot of consistent exercise. This is of the utmost importance in order to keep him well balanced and happy. He is ready for action all the time but gets serious when leashed. He does pretty well on leash walks and loves car rides. He's an affectionate guy, too, who thinks nothing of climbing into a person's lap if he gets the chance. Argo would do best in a home with a large fenced yard. He's NOT a dog for apartment living. He's looking for an ADULT only, single person home as he tends to bond very closely to his person and becomes quite protective. No cats for him. He's incredibly smart and would be a lot of fun to train! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Boo, aka Blue (his former owners used both) was originally adopted from us back in 2021, when he was around 2 years old. Unfortunately, Boo had to be returned to us in December 2025 after 4 years in his home, through no fault of his own. His owner had some difficult life changes and it was a sad situation for all involved, so we're grateful that the family reached out to us for help. Boo has been completely vetted, chipped, and his fee is $125. Boo is about 6 years old now and is a medium-sized dog who could be a husky/cattle dog mix, possibly with other breeds like border collie and rat terrier. He very much loves to be with his people and is affectionate and attentive. He would do best in a home in which he's not left alone for long hours. He is still pretty active, enjoys his exercise, and is also content to hang out and cuddle. He has done well with other dogs and kids, but he's not the best fit for cats. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved.
