Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Mara/Winnie originally came to us in February 2023. She was adopted soon after and was in that home for over 3 years. Unfortunately, she was returned to us in May 2026 because her owners downsized and had pet limitations at their new apartment. Her name was Mara when she was originally with us, but her people called her Winnie and she is used to that name. She is now around 5 years old and looks to be possibly a border collie/Australian shepherd mix, but it's hard to say. We will need to get her updated on her basic vaccinations and microchipped. Her fee is $150. Winnie has done really well with other dogs. She's a lovely, well mannered girl who is pretty bewildered to be back in the shelter. She has done well with older kids, too, but may need a home without cats or one that can give her plenty of training to coexist with them. Her former owner did not have cats but told us there had been a couple instances of Winnie chasing cats (but not hurting them) outside. Winnie has had basic training and will require some regular brushing as she does have a pretty long, thick coat. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications can be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 29, 2026, 10:02 pm

Story
Rex is truly one of the sweetest, easiest dogs you’ll ever meet. He’s the kind of pup who just wants to love and be loved. And once you earn his trust, he’ll give you his whole heart. He gets along great with other dogs and would do best in a home with another playful, confident pup. While he doesn’t currently live with cats, we think he’d likely do well with a slow and proper introduction. Rex can be shy when meeting new people and new environments, so he’s looking for a patient home that will let him move at his own pace and understand that trust can take time. But underneath that timid exterior is such a playful, goofy, cuddly boy who’s still very much a puppy at heart. He loves bouncing around the backyard with his squeaky toys, going for hikes, and he especially loves splashing around in water! With some training he has the potential to be a great off-leash adventure buddy. And at the end of the day he’s happy to snuggle up with you on the couch. He’s also incredibly well-mannered - potty trained, great on a leash, sleeps quietly in his crate through the night, and does well free roaming when left home alone during the day. Rex is such a gentle, loving soul. He may need a little extra patience at first, but the love and loyalty you’ll get in return are absolutely worth it. Requirements: Another dog in the home Adoption fee: $450 plus tax Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org

Story
Meet Patricia! (Formally Sassy Brisket)We were contacted by the Owatonna impound to take a dog that had been in their impound for a few weeks. Her owners had been identified and contacted but unfortunately - they never came to claim her. Upon her arrival here, we scanned her chip and found that she had been adopted from us in 2022. Now Patricia finds her way back to us due to no fault of her own. She is a middle aged lady, about 6 yrs old, and is thought to be some sort of Shepherd lab or border collie mix. She enjoys playing with the other dogs and is very friendly and social with people. All she is waiting for is a true forever home where she will be loved on for the rest of her days.If you think Patricia could be a good fit for you, apply online today!Adoption fee is $350 + $30 microchip fee + tax

Story
Flare is the kind of puppy who makes you grin - bright‑eyed, curious, and convinced that life is one big adventure meant to be explored at full speed (with lots of cuddly naps too). Born in mid‑December 2025 and 18#, this Border Collie mix is the perfect blend of fun, resilience, smarts, and affection. Flare has a contagious enthusiasm for life, going all in on whatever he’s doing: tugging with gusto, wrestling with dog friends, delivering enthusiastic kisses, running like the wind, and welcoming every new person he meets to his fan club. He’s human‑focused, neutral toward other dogs, and happiest when his brain and body have something to do. A family that runs, hikes, trains, or enjoys dog sports will find him irresistible. He’s visited pet stores, explored parks, tagged along to dog school, and eagerly greeting each new adventure. He’s curious, observant, and steady. He has medium energy with the ability to relax once he’s had exercise or worked on obedience skills – he’s not a ‘stay in the house’ type of dog. Just like a kid can’t wait to start kindergarten, Flare is excited to take classes with his new family. He’s still a puppy learning things like housetraining, leash skills, nail trims, and encountering everyday things like vacuums. On leash, he’s impressive for his age. He rides nicely in the car when contained in a crate and can settle in one at home if he’s relaxed after a play or training session. Flare would thrive with a fenced yard and a family experienced with herding breeds. He can live with respectful kids who understand how to be kind and consistent with a puppy. He kindly requests a canine buddy in his new home, preferably one who likes to wrestle. He hasn’t met cats yet. If you’re looking for a bright, athletic, affectionate puppy who could grow into an incredible adventure buddy or partner in an active life, Flare is ready to light up your world. Flare is being fostered in Rochester, MN. Flare's adoption fee is $550 + MN sales tax. He is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. He will be neutered and microchipped at the age of roughly 6 months. The cost of this procedure is included in his adoption fee. Upon adoption, all of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Story
Meet Oreo - a sweet young puppy who has been let down too many times in her short life. Oreo came to us from a partner impound when she was seized from her owners. She is thought to be between 4-5 months old and a border collie/husky mix. Unlike most puppies her age, Oreo has known cruelty and has had to overcome it.It takes her a little bit to trust people and warm up - but this is understandable. She is getting braver and braver everyday. Our wonderful trainer has been working with her since her arrival to help her adjust, desensitize, and learn that not all people are bad. Oreo would thrive with a family that has time to show her the good parts of the world and work on basic puppy training. Oreo is truly a diamond in the rough and she is really starting to shine! If you think she could be a good match for you, apply online today!Adoption fee is $350 + $30 microchip fee + tax

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Argo arrived in November 2022 from our friends at the Rescue Network after he was rescued from a Reservation in South Dakota. He is about 4 to 5 years old and does have a lot of the trademark features of mixed breed dogs from Reservations - "Rezzies", as they are affectionately known in rescue. Like many Rezzies, he could be a mix of cattle dog and German and/or Australian shepherd, just to name a few possible options. He's a handsome and very active dog. He has been vet checked and neutered and his fee is $125. Argo has had some basic training and will require a lot of consistent exercise. This is of the utmost importance in order to keep him well balanced and happy. He is ready for action all the time but gets serious when leashed. He does pretty well on leash walks and loves car rides. He's an affectionate guy, too, who thinks nothing of climbing into a person's lap if he gets the chance. Argo would do best in a home with a large fenced yard. He's NOT a dog for apartment living. He's looking for an ADULT only, single person home as he tends to bond very closely to his person and becomes quite protective. No cats for him. He's incredibly smart and would be a lot of fun to train! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved.
