Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Dani, aka Polly, originally came to us from one of our rescue friends in June 2020. She was found running loose and no one ever claimed her. She looks like a mix of Australian and English shepherd, both of which are very intelligent dogs. Dani does take some time to warm up to new people. Once she does, she is a sweet gal and is very affectionate. She loves to give hugs. She is likely now 4 to 5 years old. She has been vet checked and spayed. Her fee is $125. Dani was adopted for many months and returned recently after her person suffered a debilitating injury and could no longer keep her. She bonds very closely with her person and would make a fantastic companion. Dani would do best in an experienced, ADULT only home. Teens are fine. A person who is very familiar with herding breeds and their personalities would be ideal. She needs someone who is very willing and able to continue with her training. She loves to learn and learns quickly. She does NOT like to be left alone for long hours and does require a lot of physical exercise and mental stimulation. Dani can be hit or miss with other dogs. She has done okay with some male dogs. Cats are a no. A securely fenced yard would be ideal for her. She is not a dog for apartment living. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Argo arrived in November 2022 from our friends at the Rescue Network after he was rescued from a Reservation in South Dakota. He is 2-3 years old and does have a lot of the trademark features of mixed breed dogs from Reservations - "Rezzies", as they are affectionately known in rescue. Like many Rezzies, he could be a mix of cattle dog and German and/or Australian shepherd, just to name a few possible options. He's a handsome and very active dog. He has been vet checked and neutered and his fee is $125. Argo has had some basic training and will require a lot of consistent exercise. This is of the utmost importance in order to keep him well balanced and happy. He is ready for action all the time but gets serious when leashed. He does pretty well on leash walks and loves car rides. He's an affectionate guy, too, who thinks nothing of climbing into a person's lap if he gets the chance. Argo would do best in a home with a large fenced yard. He's looking for an ADULT only, single person home as he tends to bond very closely to his person and becomes quite protective. No cats for him. He's incredibly smart and would be a lot of fun to train! Story
Meet Helen! At only about 5 mos old, she has had a tough run at life so far, and is extremely wary of humans as a result. Helen is very skittish and would do best in a quiet home with older, dog savvy children. Another dog in the home as well as a fenced in yard is a must for Helen as she continues to learn how to be confident. Her personality really starts to come out when she is running and wrestling with other dogs, but she spends most of her time in hiding when people are around. Helen loves to play on her own with toys and bones, and you will often find a hoard in her kennel. As a puppy, she does have chewing tendencies, but does ok with redirection. Helen does great in a kennel overnight and during the day. Her kennel is her safe spot and is highly recommended for her. She has been spending most of her time in foster care adjusting to life with nice humans, so she has not had any obedience training. She would do well with some puppy training classes to help her learn obedience and build confidence in her person/people. Helen will walk behind you on a leash but freezes when things startle her. She will need some leash training as well. She has done pretty well with potty training, but has no cues when she needs to go out, and has had a few accidents. Her favorite food is hotdogs, and she can be bribed for a quick hand sniff and possible finger lick with those in hand. She has also been spotted sitting across the couch from her foster family as she gets more comfortable. Helen is looking for a patient and quiet family who will give her the space, love, and training required to set her up the right way for the rest of her life. Adoption fee is $300 plus tax. Story
I'm Zoey... the CUTEST 5 month old Australian Shepherd mix puppy you will ever see. I came to PCHS when my owners could no longer care for me. I am as sweet as candy and am so smart. I would thrive in a home that has time to teach me commands and tricks. The staff think I will catch on to those things very quickly. I do not seem to mind the other doggos here and being that I am still a pup myself, they feel I will do well with other dogs. I am full of life and energy and have so much love to give. Will you give me that love back? I am just so eager to ditch this shelter life and find myself the perfect furever home!If I sound like I could be the puppy for you, apply today! Applications can be found on homepage of our website. Once you have submitted an application, a staff member will process it and contact you to set up an appointment to meet me!My adoption fee is $400 + $30 microchip fee + tax.
