You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Argo arrived in November 2022 from our friends at the Rescue Network after he was rescued from a Reservation in South Dakota. He is about 3 to 4 years old and does have a lot of the trademark features of mixed breed dogs from Reservations - "Rezzies", as they are affectionately known in rescue. Like many Rezzies, he could be a mix of cattle dog and German and/or Australian shepherd, just to name a few possible options. He's a handsome and very active dog. He has been vet checked and neutered and his fee is $125. Argo has had some basic training and will require a lot of consistent exercise. This is of the utmost importance in order to keep him well balanced and happy. He is ready for action all the time but gets serious when leashed. He does pretty well on leash walks and loves car rides. He's an affectionate guy, too, who thinks nothing of climbing into a person's lap if he gets the chance. Argo would do best in a home with a large fenced yard. He's NOT a dog for apartment living. He's looking for an ADULT only, single person home as he tends to bond very closely to his person and becomes quite protective. No cats for him. He's incredibly smart and would be a lot of fun to train! Edward is a mini Aussie breeder release born July 2019. Edward is a bit shy and would like another dog to help him with the transition into life in the real world. He is a sweet happy boy, but has never walked on a leash - although he is trying to learn. He would like a home with a fenced yard so he doesn't need to work on leash training at the same time as potty training in a new home. Edward should go to a home that has experience with Aussies so his needs for order and organization will be appreciated. He hopes he can find someone patient and kind to help him learn how to be a happy dog living the good life. All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only. Becca is a breeder release mini Aussie born December 2020. Becca is very sweet and a little chubby for her size - she gets along very well with her roommate, but is just a little bit shy with new people. She is eager to get past this shelter chapter of her life and find her very first family ever. She is hoping that someone might give her a Home for the Holidays! Bear is a 4 year old Australian Shepherd who is incredibly smart, affectionate, and full of energy. He is the kind of dog who wants to be involved in everything you do and will happily soak up all the love and attention you can give. When his needs are met, he is a super cuddly companion who truly enjoys being close to his people. As an Australian Shepherd, Bear needs an active lifestyle and plenty of mental and physical outlets. He would thrive in a home with a securely fenced yard where he can run, play, and burn off energy, along with daily walks and ongoing engagement. An experienced, very active home that understands working breeds would be the best fit for him. Bear must go to a home with no kids. He does live with another dog. He does very well at daycare and boarding. On leash, he can be reactive and will bark at other dogs, as well as at the TV and out the window, so continued structure and guidance will help him succeed. Bear is looking for a committed home that can give him the exercise, enrichment, and affection he deserves. In return, he will give endless loyalty, cuddles, and companionship.
