I am a single mother and can not afford to keep the puppies with food and medical costs. Only asking rehoming fee to help make up the current costs of keeping everyone fed. I get along well with cats, making me an ideal companion for any family with furry friends. - TJ Dogs are usually tested with other dogs their size, and we encourage meet-and-greets with your dog before adoption. Cat tests are available if requested, but they only check for clear aggression. Always be careful when introducing dogs to cats. Advice about dogs living with children is based on behavior like energy level and how the dog handles touch. Young children should never be left alone with dogs, and we cannot guarantee how any dog will behave with kids or other pets. Behavior seen in the shelter is just a snapshot and may change in a home. Dogs come from many backgrounds and may need training, time, and patience. Dogs should not be fed together unless you know they do not guard food. We also suggest learning about a dog's breed or mix to be sure it fits your family. Moving to a new home can be stressful for dogs. Use the Rule of 3 to help them adjust: First 3 days: Dogs may feel scared, tired, overexcited, or not want to eat. First 3 weeks: Dogs start learning routines and may show new behaviors. Keep things calm and avoid busy places. First 3 months: Dogs usually feel settled and more comfortable. Zoie has had 2 litters of pups. She will be 5 this November. Our daughter rescued her from someone who kept her in a kennel all day but a couple of hours. Zoie is a loving and laid back dog. Mischievous needs a place she can run and play. Full of energy. Just can’t have her running out our door when given the opportunity. Afraid she will get hurt.

Wesson came to us from the Bolivar Pound, and despite his uncertain start, he has shown nothing but friendliness and curiosity. He loves people, enjoys exploring new places, and is always ready for a walk, a game, or a cuddle—whatever you’re offering. His herdingbreed mix gives him a smart, attentive personality, and he’s the kind of dog who will thrive with someone who enjoys teaching, bonding, and having a loyal companion by their side. He’s young, trainable, and full of potential. Whether you’re looking for a hiking buddy, a yardplaying partner, or a best friend to share the couch with, Wesson is ready to be that dog. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2673156##
