Story
Hi! I`m Lover, the playful and curious pup who loves exploring every nook and cranny. I came into the shelter after being hit by a car and sustaining pelvic fractures, making me unable to stand or walk. However, after a few weeks of taking regular walks, my strength and true personality returned. I keep my kennel clean and prefer to potty outside. I have quite an independent spirit and I`m content to explore and sniff around outdoors. I am very good on leash, take treats well but I am not really interested in playing with other dogs.. They call me sweet and friendly, always ready for some affection or a fun adventure outside..I sometimes get tired on long walks but I tke breaks so all is good. I would love a couch or bed to chill on, a friendly face to greet me, and just a forever home. If you`re looking for an easygoing walking partner, come and visit me tody.

Meet Chica B!Personality: Zoomy Love NuggetLikes: Zooming, Snacks, Turning your lap into her home baseChica B is an outgoing, lively little superstar who’s always ready for her next adventure. In the play yard, she absolutely thrives—sniffing every interesting smell, running enthusiastic laps, and proudly showing off her natural athleticism. She’s the kind of dog who enjoys a good daily dose of exercise, whether it’s a romp in the yard or a brisk walk to stretch those speedy legs. But don’t be fooled by her zoomies—once she gets her energy out, Chica B becomes a full-on cuddle bug. Her favorite cool-down routine? Crawling right into your lap like she’s 10 pounds lighter and made entirely of love. She already knows sit, is super motivated by treats, and seems genuinely curious about other dogs. Above all, she’s incredibly sweet, affectionate, and ready to bond hard with her person.Take Chica B home and enjoy the perfect mix of lively fun and heart-melting cuddles!

Story
Maggie is a 9-month-old border collie mix. She is a sweet puppy—very smart and easily trainable. Maggie is both crate-trained and house-trained. She has mastered the "sit" command and is currently working on "stay" and "come." She walks on a leash, although she still exhibits some typical puppy behaviors, such as pulling and occasionally tugging on the leash. Maggie enjoys playing fetch with a tennis ball and loves to chase after a soft Frisbee. She has undergone a complete veterinary check-up, is fully vaccinated, and is on heartworm prevention medication. However, she does not seem to get along with cats, which is the reason for her rehoming. Although she has had limited interactions with other dogs, her few encounters have gone well after a bit of barking and playful behavior. If you're interested in meeting Maggie, come to our adoption event on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 11am-2pm, located at 6300 San Mateo NE in the south Sprouts parking lot. Alternatively, we can arrange a Private Meet-and-Greet with the foster parent and your household with a completed application. Complete an easy, no-obligation online application and take the first step towards welcoming Maggie into your home by clicking on this link https://form.jotform.com/222028369049155 The $250 adoption fee covers all vaccines, spay, microchip, and heartworm/tick-borne illness testing.

Meet Onyx 🐾 Onyx is a friendly, playful, and kind-hearted dog with so much love to give. He enjoys being around people and has a naturally gentle spirit that shines through once he feels comfortable. Onyx has a playful side that makes him a joy to be around, and he thrives on attention and positive interaction. Unfortunately, Onyx is in need of a new home because his current owners no longer have the time required to properly care for him, and he is not receiving the attention he deserves. This is no fault of his own—Onyx is simply waiting for the chance to be someone’s cherished companion. He would do best with a loving, patient family who is willing to invest time in training, bonding, and daily care. With consistency, guidance, and affection, Onyx has the potential to truly flourish and become an incredibly loyal and devoted family member. If you’re looking for a sweet dog who just needs a chance and a caring home, Onyx may be the perfect addition to your family

Story
Meet Zeus – 90% Ears, 10% Dog, 100% ZoomiZeus is a 1-year-old male Border Collie mix whose ears arrive in the room before the rest of him. Seriously—those things have their own zip code. Along with the ears comes a whole lot of energy, enthusiasm, and playful chaos in the very best way. This guy lives for balls, toys, and zoomies, and he’s always ready to turn any yard into his personal racetrack. Zeus is smart and eager to please, knowing sit, down, stay, and come, and he’s gentle taking treats (even when he’s excited). He’s friendly, affectionate, and loves being part of the action. With other dogs, Zeus can be a bit forward, so a meet and greet is recommended to make sure everyone’s vibes line up. His previous owner reported that he is crate trained, rides well in the car, and may pull some on leash—nothing unexpected for a young, energetic herding mix who’s ready to learn. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, big-eared sidekick who will keep you laughing, moving, and never missing a sound, Zeus is ready to sprint straight into your heart.

Story
SMOKEY came into our rescue after a near death experience on one of the reservations we work with. He is shy with humans, but was being taken care of by a young girl and her family. Once he knows his humans he is playful and affectionate. Thanks to his family asking for help and our ability to step in with emergency veterinary care and rehab, he is alive, happy and healthy today :-) We estimate he's 2 years old. His adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccines, deworming and microchip. He is housetrained and crate trained. You must live in our adoption area (Abq, Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, Los Alamos). We look forward to completing your family with a new fur baby! :-)October 13, 2024, 4:58 pm

Story
Bandit here, checking in for pup duty! I’m a well-mannered senior gentleman looking for a loving home. I grew up with a lifetime of love from my person, but they're no longer with me, and now I’m hoping to find a new family to share my golden years with. I really love car and truck rides, especially with a breeze in my fur and maybe a pup cup along the way. After our drive, a hike is perfect! From the foothills to the Bosque and the park, I love exploring. When I’m not out and about, I enjoy playing with sticks or lounging inside. I know stay, heel, and lay down, and I’m housetrained (though I may need a little time adjusting in a new home). I’m social and gentle with everyone, including kids, and I get along well with other dogs. (Cats, though, are just too tempting to chase.) I thrive on attention and love a good nap afterward. If you’re ready for a loyal, charming companion for rides, walks, and cozy moments, I just might be your guy. Come meet me today! Ruff!

Story
Our team can’t emphasize enough how full of love this sweet, seven-year-old Cattle Dog mix is! Josie has stolen our hearts with her affectionate and calm personality. She loves to lay in the grass and soak up the sunshine, take slow walks with plenty of time to sniff and explore, play with toys, hang out with her human friends, and is food motivated (there’s no treat left behind with this girl!) Josie knows "sit" and "down" and would love to learn more if treats are involved! A team member says, “Josie loves meeting new people – she rolls over for belly rubs and is just thrilled to be by your side. She is truly a sweetheart who will be a wonderful companion for someone!”

Story
My owners had to move and couldn’t take me with them. So I’m looking for a new human or family so I can make their day fun. I’m still a young gal and always ready for play. Balls, Plushies, Fetch, Tug…it’s all good. I like to play with other dogs too and good with kids. I’m also a real fan of cuddles at the end of the day. I have the cutest ears and soft, dark brown coat. And check out my stunning white booties. So if you’re looking for personality, affection and goofy charm, I can’t wait to meet you. A team member says, "Seren is a sweet, smart girl. She's understandably a little overwhelmed suddenly being in a shelter, but once you spend a little time with her, she warms up and will give you plenty of gentle kisses. She also gets the cutest zoomies in the park and will eventually crawl into your lap for cuddles."
