Story

Hi, my name is Claire and I am a senior Border Collie. I used to live on a farm with other dogs and animals but my owner passed away. I am now in foster care with S.A.F.E. Animal Haven. I met my BFF here at my foster home and would really like a forever home for the 2 of us! My BFF is Pointer and he is on this website too! I am housebroken, leash trained and generally a good girl. I like to do my own thing and I enjoy playing with Pointer. If you have room for 2, please consider giving Pointer and myself a forever home. You can find an application at safeanimalhaven.org. Pointer is the little one in the picture with me - he has spots.November 5, 2024, 12:12 am

Orla is a five year old, 38 pound, sweetheart who is finally living the pampered life she has always deserved after coming from a neglectful past. Naturally loving and endlessly affectionate, she thrives on human connection—whether she’s trailing right behind her foster mom like a loyal shadow or curling up on the couch for some serious cuddle time. She is both house and crate trained, making her a wonderful, polite companion indoors. Orla gets along great with other dogs and cats, and while she doesn't currently live with children, she has proven to be friendly and gentle around them when out in public. After a rough start, Orla is soaking up all the love and care she can get, and she is ready to bring her endless warmth to a forever home. If you are interested in adopting Orla, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age. **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. **October 5, 2026, 5:45 pm

Story

Richie ' Sambora ' is what this Border Collie mix puppy should be called because he is so handsome and extra charming. Born around April 1st, 5 months ago from 9/1, his mom was a 40 pound girl with 4 puppies who were all left outside in the harsh heat while their owner went on vacation. No food, no water was left behind. Soon Animal Control was there to take the sweet dogs in to the shelter for relief and care. Richie is 25 pounds and a very special boy. He has very special eye coloring that gives him two different colored eyes that make him absolutely unforgettable. This boy Richie has already figured out that those beautiful eyes have a way of melting hearts. Look out ladies, this handsome boy knows exactly how to turn on the charm and if he played guitar like Sambora does with Bon Jovi, he would be dangerous. But underneath those gorgeous eyes is a sweet puppy who is learning that humans can be trusted and that life can be pretty wonderful. He is almost housebroken, crate training is successful and he is good with all other dogs and cats as well. We expect him to the same weight range as his momma, 40 pounds. He is happy and curious and playful. Working on his leash skills and he has had a great deal of guidance from his foster persons that have helped him the past few weeks. If you would like to adopt this happy young pup please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com Mention where you live. A fence would be an ideal situation for this boy to run free and with total safety to hang outside for hours. PLEASE NOTE: Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted. Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site. The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive. Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comOctober 6, 2026, 6:55 pm

Story

Meet Artsy Marcy – A Survivor with a Brilliant Mind and an Even Bigger Heart Artsy Marcy is a beautiful Border Collie mix, around 2 years old and weighing 55–60 pounds. Her life began with unimaginable hardship, yet she has never let her past define her. It is believed that Marcy and her siblings were abandoned in a remote rural area of Tennessee. While trying to survive on their own, tragedy struck when they were hit by a train. Her sister did not survive, and Marcy was left with a severely dislocated hip. Thanks to a compassionate foster who refused to give up on her, Marcy received the surgery and care she desperately needed. Today she has only a slight limp—a small reminder of just how far she has come. Marcy is everything you would expect from a Border Collie mix: incredibly intelligent, observant, athletic, and eager to be part of whatever her people are doing. She loves hiking, exploring, and would thrive in an active home where she can exercise both her body and her mind. She has a natural herding instinct and enjoys having a job or purpose. She is wonderful with people and genuinely enjoys human companionship. While she may be a little shy during first introductions, she warms up quickly and forms strong, loyal bonds. Once she trusts you, she is affectionate, devoted, and eager to please. Marcy has lived around cats, but she does have a prey drive, so any home with cats should be experienced and committed to proper introductions and management. She also does well with some dogs but can be selective about her canine companions. Like many intelligent, confident working breeds, she appreciates respectful introductions and clear leadership. She would do best with an adopter who understands Border Collie personalities and will provide consistent structure, training, and outlets for her energy. Marcy isn't looking to be just another dog lying quietly in the corner. She is looking for someone who will appreciate her intelligence, celebrate her spirit, and give her the freedom to be the amazing Border Collie mix she was born to be. Against all odds, this remarkable girl survived when she easily could have been another forgotten statistic. Now she deserves the happy ending she has fought so hard for. If you'd like to learn more about Artsy Marcy or speak with the foster mom who saved her life, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. Could you be the person who gives this extraordinary survivor the forever home she's been waiting for? PLEASE NOTE: Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted. Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site. The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive. Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comOctober 6, 2026, 6:55 pm

Story

My wife and I adopted Shelby from a shelter in April 2024 when we lived in Iowa. She has been the sweetest, most well behaved dog I've ever had. We have moved a few times for work since then before settling in NC. She loves people and other dogs and she is great with kids. We think before she came to the shelter that she was a farm dog being used for breeding. In the third week of August of this year, I lost my job, my wife lost hers, she packed up everything she could fit into her SUV, left me, and went back to Iowa. I lost our apartment not long after, had to put everything in storage, and now I'm having to rehome our dogs. I don't know what the future holds for me, but I haven't been able to find work that pays anything I can live off of alone, I have had to borrow money for motel rooms to avoid being homeless, and I just can't provide the life Shelby deserves anymore. She deserves better. The small sandy colored dog in the pictures is Teddy, he is also being rehomed.
