Story
Hi, my name is Claire and I am a senior Border Collie. I used to live on a farm with other dogs and animals but my owner passed away. I am now in foster care with S.A.F.E. Animal Haven. I met my BFF here at my foster home and would really like a forever home for the 2 of us! My BFF is Pointer and he is on this website too! I am housebroken, leash trained and generally a good girl. I like to do my own thing and I enjoy playing with Pointer. If you have room for 2, please consider giving Pointer and myself a forever home. You can find an application at safeanimalhaven.org. Pointer is the little one in the picture with me - he has spots.April 21, 2024, 12:08 am

Story
# Peter Pan: A Journey from Fear to Trust Greetings! My name is Peter Pan. My journey began when I was left at a shelter, a place that was quite daunting. Fortunately, a rescue group took me under their wing. I can be a bit apprehensive and wary of new faces, often trying to appear intimidating. But with time, patience, and proper introductions, I warm up and become a bundle of love. I was fortunate to meet an incredible trainer who taught me to trust again. We've shared countless moments of play, laughter, and cuddles. Through 'training', I've mastered commands like sit, stay, come, and leash walking. I've learned that pulling isn't appreciated, and I'm now a well-behaved leash walker. My trainer believes I'm a fantastic dog (even one of his favorites!) and with the right home, I'll continue to flourish and reveal my playful personality. I'm currently seeking a foster home or perhaps my forever family. I'm an adventurer at heart, ready to explore any terrain. However, due to my love for running and playing, an apartment setting wouldn't suit me. I require a home with a fenced yard. I need an experienced owner who can provide strong leadership and guidance. Without it, I might try to assume the alpha role. But with continued training, I promise to be the best boy! I prefer observing small children from a distance and am more comfortable with older kids. Therefore, a home without children under 16 years old is necessary. While I haven't been officially tested with cats, I suspect I'd be overly curious, making a cat-free home ideal. But I do enjoy the company of other dogs who are accepting and playful! Could my happily ever after be with you? Note: The training I received includes lifetime touch-ups. Once I've settled in, my trainer will provide sessions to help me adjust to my new home and offer group training sessions most Saturdays at local parks. Interested in fostering or adopting me, Peter Pan? Please fill out an application at lastdaydogs.com. Story
Meet Murphy, our adorable little Border Collie Mix boy puppy who was rescued from a small town shelter where he was under weight and riddled with internal parasites.  His future was very bleak but now Murphy has been treated and is a healthy, happy little guy free of parasites and gaining weight like a puppy should.  Born around November 1st, he is approximately 10 weeks old (as of Jan 5th) and weighs 12 pounds.  He is expected to reach around 40 pounds as an adult.  He is friendly with all humans (toddlers included), dogs and cats that he has been in contact with.  Murphy is curious, playful and very loveable and is quite the talker.  Murphy seems to be the most curious of his siblings.  His foster mom believes he is mixed with many different breeds that are smart and inquisitive.  If you are interested please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 23, 2024, 4:30 pm

Story
“You can’t resist reading Pointer’s profile  because he is so darn cute, but Pointer isn’t for everyone. Pointer is a Blue Heeler mix, weighing in at less than 30 lbs. Just like bigger herding dogs, Pointer likes to chase, herd, nip heels and is very strong-willed. Pointer needs lots of exercise and must have mental stimulation throughout the day. He enjoys learning commands and working on his obedience commands and would make an excellent agility, nose work, scent work or other sport participant. Pointer is not a couch potato and when left to entertain himself, he can get into trouble. Pointer needs a person who is experienced with herding breeds or dogs who are competitive in sports and are not put off by his strong personality.  With the right person, Pointer can be the ultimate friend!  I would not be a candidate for an apartment, condo/townhome or a home without a fence. If interested in giving me a forever home please complete an application at www.safeanimalhaven.com Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler Characteristics Standing between 17 to 20 inches at the shoulder, the Australian Cattle Dog is a sturdy, hard-muscled herder of strength and agility. The ACD is born with a white coat that turns blue-gray or red. Both coat varieties feature distinctive mottling or specking patterns. ACDs have immense work drive and excel at hunting, chasing, and, of course, moving livestock. Their boundless energy and supple gait make them excellent running partners.ACDs are true-blue loyal, famously smart, ever alert, and wary of strangers. If an ACD isn’t challenged, he easily becomes bored and gets into mischief. It is recommended that ACD owners participate with their dog in some work, sport, or regular exercise to keep him mentally and physically fit.April 21, 2024, 12:08 am

Story
Hello and meet Zion ! We acquired him at a shelter in Chicago July 2020 years ago when he was around 1 year old. He will be 5 years old in July. We are looking for a safe, fun and outdoor type environment for Zion so he can thrive. We have been unable to give him the time he deserves since I work full time. My wife and I have a 2.5 year old child, and my wife recently gave birth to twins end of March. Zion needs an environment that could include another pet to play with, frequent trips to the park and an outdoor area to run around. Zion is an incredible dog and well trained. He is a very happy, uplifting dog that is good with people, dogs and children. He is definitely high energy that goes along with his breed of cattle dog, husky and maybe some german shepherd in him. He is playful, likes pets and very very loyal. Also a great hiking dog! This is an extremely tough decision for us but we know there is a better place out there for him so he can get more love !
