Story
Hi, my name is Claire and I am a senior Border Collie. I used to live on a farm with other dogs and animals but my owner passed away. I am now in foster care with S.A.F.E. Animal Haven. I met my BFF here at my foster home and would really like a forever home for the 2 of us! My BFF is Pointer and he is on this website too! I am housebroken, leash trained and generally a good girl. I like to do my own thing and I enjoy playing with Pointer. If you have room for 2, please consider giving Pointer and myself a forever home. You can find an application at safeanimalhaven.org. Pointer is the little one in the picture with me - he has spots.June 1, 2023, 5:41 pm

Story
Hi! I’m Peter Pan, my story begins when I was surrendered to the shelter.  It was a scary and awful place but luckily a rescue took me in.  I can be fearful and really unsure of new people, this is exhibited by me trying to look scary.  Apparently what I was doing wasn’t proper behavior so I was sent to this AMAZING guy who helped me learn to trust people again - I just need proper introductions, but once I know you, I can't get enough of your love. We have played, laughed, cuddled and played some more. When I saw that guy, we did something called “training” - I have learned some amazing things like sit, stay, come and how to walk on a leash.  I now know that pulling is frowned upon and am a good leash walker.  My trainer says I am an awesome boy (one of his favorites even!) and with the proper home, he expects me to thrive and show off my silly personality! I’m currently looking for a foster or maybe even my forever family. I would love to have some awesome adventures exploring - no terrain is too hard for me.  Since I love to run and play, I would not do well in an apartment setting and you must have a fenced in yard to adopt me. I need an experienced owner who will be a strong leader and keep me in line. Without effective leadership and guidance, I will likely try to take on the alpha role. If you can listen to my trainer and continue teaching me how to "dog", I promise to be the goodest boy! I like small children from afar but not up close, I like my kids to be older. Because of this, I must have a home without children younger than 16 years old. I have not been officially cat tested but I’m sure that I would be way too interested in them, therefore a home with cats would not be a good fit for me. However, I do like dogs as long as they will accept me and will let me play with them! I would really like to end my story with a happily ever after... could it be with you? Note: The training Peter Pan received comes with lifetime training touch ups. Once Peter Pan has settled in, the trainer will provide you with training sessions to help acclimate him to his new home also they provide group training sessions most Saturdays at local parks.  If you are interested in adopting or fostering Peter Pan, please fill out an application at lastdaydogs.com. If you have any questions, please send an email to info@totuanimalrescue.org.  June 4, 2023, 4:16 pm

Story
Our pretty girl is called Danvers and she is a highly intelligent and smart Border Collie girl that is looking for someone that understands how her brain works. She is a 3.5 year old female that is a little higher on the weight chart than she should be…..40 pounds now and should be more like 35 pounds. She is living in an apartment setting and needs a totally new environment.  She would thrive happily in a place with a fenced yard, a relaxed owner who knows how to be her alpha and who is a confident dog owner.  She does great on a leash and she is typically good with other dogs but she needs an owner who is not anxious on new meetings of dogs.  Danvers is picking up on some anxiety and she doesn’t need to, but Border Collies know what is happening all around them.   She is totally trained on all the commands that you want a dog to know.  She is with an owner who has gone through a big life transition and she cannot keep Danvers by herself as a single person in the home.   This girl is so smart and so willing to learn and absorb a good leader in her life.   Could that be you!?    If so please send us an email at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJune 6, 2023, 6:56 pm

Story
Our handsome young Border Collie mix boy is not a puppy but not yet a mature adult either.  His name is Quincy is only eight months old and weighing in at 40 pounds.  He is so good and wonderful with children and other dogs too.   He is thriving in his foster home after coming from a very neglectful situation as a younger dog. Now he feels the joy of being loved.  He’s affectionate, loyal and very smart with having mastered his housetraining and crate skills.  Quincy is not a needy boy nor is he demanding or pushy.  He certainly does enjoy having his ears stroked.  He is fully vetted and microchipped and neutered and oh so healthy. We think that Quincy would be an extremely fun dog to raise if you are looking for a smart, good energy for hiking, running, speed walks or just hanging out with you on the sofa.  He is going to be an ultimate 45 pound dog when fully grown.  He is not a dog for a no exercise family or person.  He  is not a Basset Hound. If you are interested please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.June 6, 2023, 6:56 pm

Story
This is London. She is a 1 year old Border Collie lab mix. Full of energy. She is UTD on all shots, I have her shot records. I just got her spayed and microchipped last month. She is well cared for. I need to rehome her. As much as that breaks my heart I don’t have the time she needs anymore. With work and school, since I picked up a summer semester as well. She’s loving and a bit shy but when she warms up to you she is a joy to be around. She love car rides. She has a bed tent she loves and a crate. That goes to say she’s crate trained, house trained, good with kids. Knows Sit, Lay, stay and up, which I changed to hug lol

Story
“You can’t resist reading Pointer’s profile  because he is so darn cute, but Pointer isn’t for everyone. Pointer is a Blue Heeler mix, weighing in at less than 30 lbs. Just like bigger herding dogs, Pointer likes to chase, herd, nip heels and is very strong-willed. Pointer needs lots of exercise and must have mental stimulation throughout the day. He enjoys learning commands and working on his obedience commands and would make an excellent agility, nose work, scent work or other sport participant. Pointer is not a couch potato and when left to entertain himself, he can get into trouble. Pointer needs a person who is experienced with herding breeds or dogs who are competitive in sports and are not put off by his strong personality.  With the right person, Pointer can be the ultimate friend!  I would not be a candidate for an apartment, condo/townhome or a home without a fence. If interested in giving me a forever home please complete an application at www.safeanimalhaven.com Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler Characteristics Standing between 17 to 20 inches at the shoulder, the Australian Cattle Dog is a sturdy, hard-muscled herder of strength and agility. The ACD is born with a white coat that turns blue-gray or red. Both coat varieties feature distinctive mottling or specking patterns. ACDs have immense work drive and excel at hunting, chasing, and, of course, moving livestock. Their boundless energy and supple gait make them excellent running partners.ACDs are true-blue loyal, famously smart, ever alert, and wary of strangers. If an ACD isn’t challenged, he easily becomes bored and gets into mischief. It is recommended that ACD owners participate with their dog in some work, sport, or regular exercise to keep him mentally and physically fit.June 1, 2023, 5:41 pm

Story
Hi, this is Penny. She’s a 1.5 year old red heeler mix. Penny is very smart, easily trainable, sweet as pie, and insanely loyal. She loves children, sleeps with three kids, under the covers, every night. Penny needs a strong owner who can guide her and train her. She is strong willed, wants to be dominant, will quickly understand her place, but only with the correct alpha owner. If you can provide Penny with this, she will be the loyalists of dogs. Unfortunately, we are moving and are unable to take Penny with us. She will be missed greatly, but I know that she will light up someone else’s life just as she has ours. Penny has a personality that captures everyone’s heart.
