Story
Brynne is a very loving and affectionate “little” girl. We adopted Brynne when she was 1.5 years old (approx) and she has been a staple of our life since. My partner and I have recently separated and in the process, are unable to keep her in either of our new residence. We have one other dog that she got along with and also worked well with other family members dogs who visited. She is housebroken, up to date on vaccines, and is very treat motivated. She walks well on a leash, lunging for the occasional squirrel or bunny rabbit though. We have a 2 year old that she does well around but have often had them separated due to her “excessive loving” (getting up in her face with nose kisses and sniffs) tendencies. Brynne would be perfectly happy going for a hike or spending the day napping which was a great balance of athletic dog/lazy dog. We are looking to re-home her to a loving situation who can give her the pets and love she deserves.

Story
Cypher is a smart happy boy that is searching for his forever person or family. He had a rough start in life, but with the help of his wonderful foster siblings and parents, he's really turned himself around. He's crate trained, house trained, leash trained, and loves going for car rides. Friendly, outgoing, and has never met a stranger. He's got play energy courtesy of his border collie side, which also makes him smart and ready to learn. He's got a howl from his hound side, but it only comes out when he's alerting to a visitor or intruder. His hound side also makes him a couch potato when play is over. He's a major cuddler! When it's couch time, he's all about being your personal weighted blanket! He'd be best with a sister or a chill brother. He loves playing but can be bossy due to being on his own for much of his puppyhood. Cypher is good with cats, no food or resource guarding. He's good with kids, but he likes to jump onto the couch without looking and might land on someone!Adoption fee of $150 includes neuter, microchip, vaccines, deworming, heartworm testing, and heartworm/flea/tick preventionApply here: http://2pawsup.org/2pawsup_wp/forms/adoption-form/May 29, 2023, 10:41 pm

Story
Have you sworn off the male species? Do you like to plan your life to each precise detail? We have a dog for you! Macon is a handsome and intelligent Border Collie, a 3 yr old male with a unique personality. Macon has a preference for a female-only household due to his past experiences with men. He is a very sensitive dog and becomes frightened when faced with unexpected changes and new people. However, he is incredibly loyal and affectionate with those he trusts, making him a perfect companion for a patient and understanding owner. Macon is an amazingly neutral dog we often trust for dog temperament testing. He is more infatuated with his human than he has ever cared about a dog. Macon has a few hobbies that he thoroughly enjoys. - He loves going on car rides and will sit at your door waiting for an adventure & jump in any car that has an open door! - Hiking, Walking Trails, Running Pretty much anything in Nature - Yes, Yes and Yes! - Do you have an arm that will throw his ball for hours and hours - You are just the person he's been wishing we were! - Have you dreamed of a dog to work on agility and/or Dock Diving? This is exactly what this guy wants! - Cuddle on the couch after a long day - he will happily borrow oxygen! In the proper environment Macon is also an off-leash trained, which is a testament to his discipline and intelligence. However, his velcro dog nature and ability to frighten easily with strangers makes it important that he always stays close to his owner and safely away from others that he doesn't know. He has not pursued someone by any means yet will push them back with a growl if he feels they are a threat to him. Macon has a sweet temperament, and his playful and loving nature makes him the perfect fit for an owner who can provide him with a calm and stable environment. He needs a home that is in a more rural area with fewer distractions and someone who can be patient with him as he adapts to new situations and people. With the right owner, Macon will undoubtedly blossom into a confident and happy dog. Macon has proven to bond to his person and trust others to be near when his person is in the room. He can meet people as long as they do not interact with him physically or acknowledge him until he is comfortable. We believe in this guy so much that we are willing to pay for additional personalized formal training if the right family is found. He currently has 3 special ladies he trusts with all his heart whom can do anything with him and he is just happy and eager to oblige. He has met many others and has participated in group trainings with no issue as long as those there keep their distance not making him feel pressured to greet. We do understand this sounds overwhelming when looking for a pet yet if you are looking for that once in a life time pet to fill your world with love, loyalty and companionship this is your guy! Macon is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, current on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. My adoption fee is $325. If you have read this far and still haven't turned away, reach out to our dog program manager SusanRoberts@secondchancenc.org.

Story
Mack (aka Tux - notice his markings) is a super sweet; gorgeous, stunning, well behaved, ~70+ pounds of love! Half of Mack's Adoption Fee has been SPONSORED by a generous donor, Just $150 to adopt this Handsome Hunk!!   He is good with other dogs, cats and kids!  The trifecta!  He seems to gravitate towards kids and wants to be with them; just make sure the kiddos are older (~10+) becuase of his size.  He wouldn't want to accidently knock down a smaller child with his love and affection.  He was very afraid of his foster family's cats (kind of cute and funny) when he first arrived. He is becoming more interested in them and will chase in play but easily redirected. Mack could be an only dog, but he'd probably be happier with some fun, playful siblings. He does well with other dogs and is submissive even with his larger size. He is going to be an awesome addition to a full house!    Mack would love to be in a home with an active family where he could be outside a lot. He would really, really like a 5ft+ fenced yard to run, zommie, and romp around in!  He likes playing with toys, some good ole tug-o-war (he typically gives up first) and playing with other dogs.  He likes grabbing a stuffie and pulling and tugging on it with his foster furry family members.  Mack likes to use his voice and "chat" with his furry foster siblings...he has cute vocals. He wouldn't be a perfect fit for apartment or condo for these reasons.   Mack is house trained but not really crate trained.  He has selected a favorite chair and a dog bed that he finds much more to his liking. He is well behaved and happy in his home environment.  He would be happy curled up in front of a roaring fire or on the sofa after a good play time. Mack would love someone who works from home/home most of the time, so he could have loads of attention.   Mack loves the car and would be happy with a family that is on the go!  Do you travel and need a companion, do you have a RV and go many places and camp then Mack may be the pup for you!  He loves to go with you and would be a great camping/hiking buddy as he loves to exercise. He does have some seperation anxiety, and will chew things if left alone on ocassion (he is almost never alone) so even more reason to take him with you!  Plus, when you are out and about, he is good on a leash and well behaved.  He is a GEM!    DOB 02/26/2017 male Pit and Border Collie mix. As part of Mack's $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Mack, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##1558926##

Story
When Junie came in the rescue he went from a terrified nearly feral boy in the woods to a sweet and curious young man. He will be 2 next month and he’s loving learning how to be a dog! Junie used to hate car rides but now he jumps right in! He shouldn’t go on a long ride on a full tummy though! Junie will thrive in a home with another dog, he loves the dog first then the humans. He needs a confident dog best friend and does not do well being alone. We think now that he knows how good life can be he’s scared to be alone. He does well with cats that do well with dogs (after some correction he did great)! Our cat thinks he’s a dog, so if you have a cat like that it’s fine but he needs more than just a kitty friend. Junie will also need a fenced in yard. His recall is extraordinary and we have worked very hard on that! Although he does great on a leash, a secured area would be best and besides he loves to play off leash with other dogs! An apartment environment or a busy and loud environment will not be a good fit for Junie. Junie loves children! He can be shy with new adults but quickly bonds - with children he’s super comfortable and he hasn’t met a kid he didn’t immediately love! If we could only adopt them all Junie would already have his forever home with us. He has been such a joy and watching him blossom brings so much warmth to our home. We are so proud of Junie and love him very much! Are you interested in adopting this dog or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received. Completed applications can be sent via email to adopt@jcapl.org, faxed to 919-300-5524 or delivered in person by visiting us at one of our adoption events on Saturdays at PetSmart in Garner (White Oak Shopping Center). We will contact you as soon as possible once we receive your application. Thanks for thinking adoption!
