(DOB 03/23/2025)  Maverick earned his name the old-fashioned way—by going on quite the adventure before finding his way to Paws for Life NC!  For months, this handsome guy roamed a neighborhood, making friends wherever he went. Kids? Absolutely! Cats? Yep! Other dogs? His favorite! Adults, however, were a different story.   Maverick would approach people, clearly curious and wanting to connect, but he always kept just enough distance between himself and the grown-ups to make sure no one could actually touch him. It was almost as if he was saying, “I really want to trust you… I’m just not quite ready yet.” And that’s the thing about Maverick—he wants to trust. He just needs someone willing to give him the time and patience to discover that people can be safe. Maverick absolutely THRIVES with confident dogs and gains so much confidence from having a canine buddy by his side. ’m Percy! I am a little over a year old and weigh 64 pounds. I’ve been with Love Mutts Rescue since I was 8 weeks old, so I fortunately only know love and snuggles, which I love to do! I’m up to date on all of my vaccines, neutered, and Heartworm negative. I was so good at the vet, and everyone fell in love with me! I’m an American Staffy mix with Border Collie. I am very athletic and love to swim to cool off after chasing and playing with my foster sisters and brothers. I’m house and crate trained and walk well on my harness. I do need structure in my life because I can get protective of my food, so I don’t mind eating in my crate where I feel comfortable. I’m not a picky eater and I’ll try anything! I love berries, bananas, bread….you name it, I’ll try it! I get along with dogs when I’m properly introduced and learn my boundaries quickly. I would also be ok as an only dog too so I can get all of the love and attention. I’ve not met any cats however my prey drive is high, so I’d be best in a home with no cats. I enjoy long walks, sunshine, balls and toys. I even return the ball about half the time. I absolutely love all people, including kids. I’d be best in a home with older kids though because I think I’m a lapdog and may accidentally knock over a toddler.

Oreo is a 6-year-old male Border Collie, about 60 pounds, black and white with blue eyes. He is neutered, housebroken, crate trained, microchipped, and his shots are up to date. He is sweet with people. He runs up and rolls on his back. He stays in the front yard and does not chase cars or people. No leash pulling. He is e-collar trained and listens off leash. A collar is optional unless they want him off leash in public. He needs short training and play, but he is not a couch dog. He likes balls and loves fetch. He does not nip and has never bitten. Generally calm with dogs, and fine in a group kennel with outdoor play. He may herd a zooming dog. Cats are untried. Ok with kids if an adult is around. He gets excited and can bump little ones. No growling or biting history. He does not pace himself, so he should not be over exerted in the heat. He is fine if given water and encouraged to rest. He needs a home by December 1. No visits in December. Adopters are still screened.

Sanford is an adult who weighs about 50 lbs now full grown. No nubby tail for this gent, he has a gorgeous white coat, merle mask and speckles scattered all about. Sanford IS the picture of his breed mix and therefore he will need an active home and people that will stimulate his mind and body because that is what makes dogs like him happiest and feeling the most fulfilled. Sanford is not likely to enjoy an apartment setting or being sedentary for long periods of time so people who like to explore, hike, adventure and go out and do things with their dog are totally up his alley. Sanford has met a number of dog friends since his arrival to Saving Grace but would likely do best as the only established male in the home. We went to an outdoor restaurant and he sat under my feet the entire time and got compliments from two other patrons about how handsome and well-behaved he is. He slept through the night both nights and was fully potty trained. He cuddled on the couch and watched movies both nights and really really loves belly rubs!
