Meet CJ, your next snuggle buddy! CJ is a well-mannered, playful, young-at-heart companion with an adventurous spirit and so much love to give. At an estimated 7 years young and around 44 lbs, he’s the perfect mix of outdoor explorer and cozy couch companion. He’s currently living in a foster home with another dog and showing everyone just how special he is!
When CJ first arrived at the shelter, volunteers noticed he was having some trouble with moving his back paw, so he was quickly placed in a medical foster home to give him the care and support he needed. He was subsequently diagnosed with IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease). The good news? CJ’s case is considered low-grade, and his veterinary team is optimistic about his recovery with conservative treatment and rest. Thanks to his wonderful vet team and dedicated fosters, he’s already made tremendous progress - about 60% of the way there!
CJ is looking for a forever family that will cheer him on through the rest of his recovery and help him stick to his care plan. This includes crate rest, no jumping/playing, limited stairs, leisurely strolls, and endless snuggles. In his foster home, he has proven to be house broken, crate trained, rarely makes a peep, and manageable on leash. He loves exploring the outdoors, sniffing all the interesting smells, and soaking up affection. CJ is also very treat-motivated, making training a breeze! At night, he likes to curl up on the couch next to you and snooze. When he wants some extra attention, he will reach out with a paw, that’s his way of politely asking for a back scratch, belly rub, or even a little paw massage. Consider yourself officially summoned for snuggles!
His compatibility with cats and children is currently unknown. As always, a meet and greet with resident dogs is required. CJ is available through our Foster-to-Adopt Program, which means you can welcome this sweetheart into your home while he completes his veterinary care, including neuter, vaccines, microchip, and heartworm testing.
