Story
ADOPTION FEE WAIVED - PLEASE READ JILLY'S STORY... Meet JILLY, a sweet, shy girl looking for a home. She appears to be a border collie mix, about 3 years old and fully grown at 35 pounds. Jilly came to us thanks to a number of good samaritans who provided her with veterinary care and safe places to live until rescue could be secured for her. Jilly and Jacky were brought to a vets office in a county so rural they don't even have an animal shelter. Their "human" wanted them euthanized in November for being "aggressive". The vet immediately recognized that the owner was feeding him a line of BS, these dogs were not aggressive, they were timid and unsocialized and needed love and kindness. Instead of euthanizing them, he provided them with full vetting -- spay/neuter, vaccines, etc. and boarded Jilly and Jacky until he could find a place for them. 2 different fosters stepped up over time and provided them with safe places to live. Jilly and Jacky have both proven to be wonderful dogs. Not an aggressive bone in their bodies. Jilly is timid in new situations and with new people, but warms up to kindness and will happily give her heart to her people. She's housebroken and crate trained and has been fostered with dogs, cats and kids. She needs a home with an adopter who will help build her confidence. She needs a physically-fenced yard and ideally another friendly, well balanced dog. Everyone involved in Jilly and Jacky's care agrees that they are better off separated because they feed off of each other's fear and anxiety. Given Jilly's timid nature, she's not a good option for a first-time adopter. We decided to waive Jilly's (and Jacky's) adoption fee because we have put very little money into these dogs and they really need loving homes ASAP where they can settle in for the rest of their lives. If you would like to meet Jilly, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Story
KATIE is a fun, sassy little mixed breed puppy looking for a home. She appears to be a miniature border collie/australian shepherd type girl. She has some small breed dog in the mix to account for her petite size. Maybe some Boston terrier? She's around 6 months old and 15 pounds. We don't expect her to get much bigger, she'll probably remain under 20 pounds when fully grown. She has a bobbed tail like an Aussie. Katie is a confident little girl who is best suited to a home with another confident playful dog. She loves kids but is not well suited to a home with small children who may not enjoy her herding tendencies. Katie loves toys and treats. If you'd like to meet Katie, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org.  We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Katie at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate, if she's still available. Our adoption fee covers the dog’s veterinary care, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention and any other needed veterinary care. A deposit is required to take a dog home for a trial period. The deposit will be applied to the dog’s final adoption fee.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 3, 2024, 9:06 pm

Tyson is a little mischievous but so very handsome! He is: • Good with other dogs • Friendly with people • Housebroken • Loves to swim and play in water • Enjoys baths! We believe Tyson has some herding dog instincts, as he likes to chase cats and cattle. Escaping his yard and chasing cattle landed him in the shelter. He is looking for a forever home that will provide a secure yard or leashed daily walks, playtime, and lots of love. Apply to adopt him now!

Story
Pretty and Joy are pure bred shorthaired border collie sisters, 21 months old. Pretty is strong, and gentle. She desires to be obedient, listens and learns well. She has a strong herding instinct and would make a great working farm dog. Joy is energetic and playful. She needs more attention than Pretty and is a fun family pet. She likes playing tug and fetch, and would make a good agility dog if you wanted to teach her tricks. Both have lived outside full time with access to five acres on which they happily roam and play with our four boys. Ideally, a new home would offer lots of outdoor time and space like they are accustomed to. They could live indoors with outside time, but may not be compatible with other pets. They both play well with children and would be good as a family pet, companion, or working farm dogs. I prefer if they could go to the same family, but would be willing to re-home them separately.
