Story
Pretty is a pure bred shorthaired border collie, 2 years old. She is strong, gentle, affectionate. She desires to be obedient, listens and learns well, but had not been properly trained and may have some habits in need of correction. She has a strong a strong herding instinct, so she could make a good working farm dog. She is bold, but afraid of loud sudden noises such a thunder, fireworks, and gun shots, from which she seeks shelter or barks with concern at the sky. She would be a wonderful companion or family pet regardless. She has lived outside full time with her sister from the same litter, Joy, with access to five acres on which they happily roam and play. She gets along well with our four boys, ages 9–15, as well neighboring kids and adults. She has no fear of strangers and is friendly with everyone. Ideally, a new home would offer lots of outdoor time and space like she is accustomed to. She could live indoors with outside time, but may not be compatible with smaller pets because of her strong prey drive, and will need to be house trained. She is familiar with basic commands such as her name, come, sit, lie down, wait, and thank you (break word), yet she will need reinforcement training. Her sister Joy is also up for adoption, but because they have littermate aggression tendencies, Regina has suggested re-homing them separately. Meet Falafel, the sweetest pup you'll ever encounter! This cuddly companion has a heart of gold and an insatiable love for snuggles. Whether it's curling up on your chest or basking in the warmth of a cozy blanket, Falafel knows how to make every moment feel special. Her favorite pastime? Belly rubs, of course! With her tail wagging in delight, she'll happily roll over, inviting you to shower her with affection. And let’s not forget her love for treats—this little foodie is always ready to earn a tasty reward. With Falafel by your side, every day is filled with joy, laughter, and endless love. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   October 14, 2024, 3:32 pm

Story
"Hello my name is HAILEY and I'm a fetchaholic..." Beautiful mixed breed girl Hailey loves toys and play time, especially fetch. She is a lively mixed breed lass who needs an active home. She has the intense eyes and focus of a border collie, Australian Shepherd toes and a medium length coat that's shorter than both of those breeds, we have no clue what else may be in the mix. She is around 18 months old and fully grown at 31 pounds. Hailey is very intelligent and a quick study. She already knows "sit" and should be a fun dog to train. Hailey is very people-oriented,  she's an affectionate girl who bonds closely to people.  Hailey is good with other dogs and fine with cats. She's best suited to a home with a physically-fenced yard suitable for zoomies and fetch. She is housebroken. If you'd like to meet Hailey, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Hailey at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoption fee covers the dog’s veterinary care, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention and any other needed veterinary care. A deposit is required to take a dog home for a trial period. The deposit will be applied to the dog’s final adoption fee. Story
Space is a 9 month old medium size dog. She loves other dogs and has done well with cats. Space needs a special adopter that will give her time to realize people aren’t so scary. She has made a TON of progress at her foster home but is still very timid at times. She gets SO excited to see you after work but still only wants to be pet on her own terms. She will do best in a home with no children, another dog to help build her confidence, and her own yard, as she is not leash trained. She is very fearful of the leash, leading us to believe she may have had a traumatic experience involving a leash before coming to HART. This dog absolutely loves to be comfy. All she wants is a comfortable bed or to curl up by your feet on the couch. If you’re looking for a playmate for your dog that does not beg for constant attention or a friend to keep your dog busy while you’re at work, Space could be a great choice for you. If interested in meeting Space please fill out an application at www.rescueahart.org!
