Story
Irwin is a very energetic, loving, 2.5yr old Border Collie Mix. He's the perfect dog for someone who wants a high energy companion and has some room for him to run. He will be your shadow from the time you wake up until the time you head off to sleep, and he has no shortage of personality. He's very intelligent and has gone through basic dog obedience classes and very nearly passed the canine good citizen test. We've loved owning him for these past 2.5 years but recently, he has unfortunately had some issues with young children. Our 6 month old daughter is getting ready to start exploring the world, and we want to make sure that both she and Irwin can lead safe, happy lives.

Story
Meet Gabby. Initially, she may seem very shy and reserved, but once she warms up to you, she'll be your best friend for life. At about 6 months old, she's still quite small. Due to her breed, we would prefer a home without cats. However, Gabby will flourish in a home with at least one other dog to bolster her confidence. Get to know this sweet little one, and you're certain to fall in love.

Story
Elsa is a 5 year 3 month old Border Collie mix weighing 54 pounds who came to the shelter as a stray so her history is unknown. Elsa is a smart, sweet and affectionate girl, you couldn't ask for a more loyal companion! She is very shy with new people, multiple visits to the shelter needed for her to come out of her shell. Once she gets to know you her personality really shines! She is high energy, she loves walks, playing fetch and cuddles with her person. She LOVES playing with balls and is good on a leash. Knows commands sit, shake, laydown & roll over. Her breed needs an active lifestyle such as running, hiking, biking or walking regularly. Her personality is as big as her heart! She came to us with an ear and skin infection, she has been seen and treated by a veterinarian and is currently on Apoquel for suspected allergies which should continue in her new home along with a special diet. She is also on Prozac for her anxiety while here at the shelter, separation anxiety is suspected. She will not thrive in a home where she is left alone for hours at a time. Her adoption fee is $150, this includes her spay, heartworm test, vaccines current, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention and micro chipped. Her dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at time of adoption, which is an additional $20.75. Please visit the shelter to meet her, we show dogs Monday through Friday 1pm-4:30pm and Saturday 1pm-3:30pm. Once you have visited the shelter, you are then eligible to submit an adoption application for review. Please note, we do not offer same day adoptions and there is a $10 non-refundable application fee.Come and meet your new best friend today! The Humane Society of Sandusky County is open Monday -Friday 1pm - 5pm and Saturdays from 1pm - 4pm. Also, be sure to check us out on FaceBook!
