Story
Meet Bairn, an energetic and enthusiastic dog in search of an active, confident owner. Bairn has a zest for life and loves to stay busy, whether it’s going for runs, long walks, swimming, or cuddling with his favorite people. He thrives on learning new things and is a quick learner—definitely a smart cookie! Bairn is reactive to new people, other dogs, and some vehicles, so he will need to be walked with a muzzle as a precaution. However, his reactivity can be managed with consistent training, energy-draining activities, keeping a safe distance from triggers, and positive reinforcement for good behavior. When his mind is engaged and his energy is properly channeled, Bairn is much more balanced and in control. This wonderful boy will need a dedicated owner who is committed to continuing his training and giving him the structure he needs. While Bairn may not be immediately friendly with new people, he just needs time and slow, controlled introductions to build trust. Once he bonds with you, he’ll show you his goofy, lovable side. Bairn is looking for a home with a fully fenced yard, where he can thrive in a calm and structured environment. He would do best in a home without small children or other dogs. With patience and understanding, Bairn will prove to be the best companion you could ask for!

Story
Flawless was surrendered to us from an extremely neglectful situation. She spent the first few weeks in the hospital being treated for an infected wound on her paw and on a re-feeding schedule due to being emaciated. This is an experience no puppy should ever have to endure. Fast forward to now, Flawless is thriving. She is healthy as can be, her coat is luscious and she has filled out. She is ready for her forever home. She is extremely high energy, she loves to play fetch and learn new things. Flawless has been getting better with dogs with slow introductions, and instead of being fearful and reactive (as she once was) she engages to play with dogs and is very curious. She will still require slow and controlled introductions with dogs. Flawless is as sweet and cuddly as can be with people she is familiar with. She is a good listener and will follow you like your shadow. She gets extremely attached to her people. With strangers Flawless can be very reactive and wary. It takes her some time to trust people. She will require slow and cautious introductions. Her ideal home would be with someone that does not have visitors often, and when they do they are prepared to work on building relationships. It will take time and patience for her to make friends. Flawless could possibly go to a home with another dog after a few meet and greets at Dog Tales to ensure they are compatible. She would do best in an adult only home with someone that is home often.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.NYX hails from the Northern community of Fort Severn and came south to find her forever home. She’s received her first 2 sets of vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and has been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. She was part of a litter of 6 puppies but this rescue only received the last remaining one. We have no information on her parents so the size she’ll grow to be or her breeds are just an educated guess. When people meet her they always say what breeds is she and why is she so small; the reply is a Border Collie/Husky mix (judging by what she looks like) whose been put in a shrinking machine. Se have no idea why she’s so small but it shouldn’t be assumed she’ll be a small dog. She’s an active little lady who loves to run around and play with her toys and also chew on her many toys and with her sharp little teeth, she needs to have lots of chewy toys like Nyla bones to chew on.  NYX is crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night and she’ll also nap in it during the day too. House training is going really well and she’s very good at letting you know when she has to go out. Every time she’s taken out for a bathroom break she’ll go so she’s really catching on to what’s expected of her when she has an trip outside. She loves going on walks and gets excited when she knows she’s going on one. Like all puppies though she’ll race ahead of you and pull you along. She has very good manners at meal times and will sit nicely for them and also take her treats “gentle.” NYX’ ideal family would be an active one that loves to go on hikes and walks plus will take her on little adventures especially seeing as she travels so well in a vehicle. She’ll do well in a home with other dogs as she’s fostered with several of them and she’s well socialized with them too. She maybe small but she’s mighty and she won’t let the other dogs get the better of her and when she’s had enough of them, she’ll let them know with her feisty attitude. There’s several foster kittens in the home and they’ll run away from her except Amethyst or Chipmunk. They’re the ones who will play and wrestle with her while the other ones just look on with mild curiosity. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be puppy savvy as this little girl can be a toe chewer and a sock puller. They should also be kind, loving and gentle towards animals. She does require a fenced-in yard so she can be kept safe while she has a run around and play. Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need her adopter to be in agreement to take her for puppy/obedience training to help her to become the best girl possible. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spayed by the time she’s 6 months of age. The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the spay requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a picture of her (preferably in her onsie or cone) in order to do the reimbursement. We do post the picture on our fb page along with other pets that were “fixed” in the same week.  If NYX sounds like she’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 3, 2025, 10:35 pm

Story
Current Location: Korea 🇰🇷 ♡ 🧡 Meet Ma-eum A gentle soul learning to love again Ma-eum spent his early years tied outside on a farm, living in fear. He was abused by a male owner and frightened by children who threw balls at him. Because of that, he is still afraid of men, loud playground sounds, and the sight of bouncing toys. But despite all this, Ma-eum has the gentlest heart. For the past two years, he has been living in a patient and loving foster home. He has made slow, steady progress — on his terms — and is now ready for the next chapter of his life. 🧬 Personality Ma-eum is a quiet, thoughtful boy with a soft energy. He feels safest around gentle women with warm voices, and he truly thrives in calm, peaceful homes. He may keep his distance from men indoors, but sometimes shows more courage when outdoors. He isn’t the kind of dog who will run into your arms — but with time and patience, he’ll follow you anywhere. He enjoys peaceful walks, nosework games, gentle pets, and long naps by your side. He doesn't bark much, and he waits quietly when left alone after a short adjustment. 🏡 At Home ✅ House-trained (prefers peeing on vertical surfaces — his foster can provide wall-to-floor pads) ✅ Good with calm dogs (interested and social but may growl at overly excited dogs) ✅ Neutral to cats (no strong prey drive) ✅ Tolerates children (nervous around fast movements but never aggressive) ✅ Excellent in the car ✅ Loves brushing and gentle touch 🚫 Afraid of balls and squeaky toys — he prefers games with treats instead 💛 Ma-eum is looking for… A family who will let him set the pace. Someone who doesn’t expect instant cuddles but understands how meaningful it is when a shy dog chooses to stay close. Ideally, a female adopter or a quiet household with gentle energy. 📦 Foster home can provide pee pad setup 📍 Adoption includes interview & home check 📩 If Ma-eum’s story touched your heart, we’d love to tell you more. He’s been waiting a long time for someone who sees past the fear — and into his true, beautiful heart

Story
Jagger is an 8 year old border collie / husky cross. He is 60 lbs of short creamy white fur with a striking dappled red nose & ears. He has a truly goofy grin when he’s happy and his expressive toffee brown eyes make it hard to stay mad at him for any length of time. He is house trained and absolutely adores his crate. He often puts himself to bed in it if if his people are up past his bedtime. He also likes to nap on the couch. Jagger loves playtime, his absolute favourite toy is his tug rope. He’ll amaze you at how fast plush toys can be taken apart. However, he is very gentle with his rubber toys. He tends to get bored, so rotating his toys is a good idea. Outside he plays with a large rubber ball but has the typical husky attitude after a few throws of “if you lose it again it’s not my problem “. Jagger has never truly played with a Frisbee, but given the space would astound you at how high he can jump. He is very smart and learns quickly. He’s food motivated and knows sit, down, wait, look at me, with me, turn, and of course high five. Jagger leans more towards his husky side. He walks well on his gentle leader but still has a tendency to pull when distracted. He likes nothing better than to see new places, he occasionally gets car sick but this is solved by timing his meals accordingly. Jagger is fascinated by water but doesn’t want to be in it, he will avoid puddles at all costs and take you home if it starts to rain on a walk. He loves being around it and will bring you right to the water’s edge, just don’t try to make him go in. Jagger is dog reactive, and will bark and lunge when he sees other dogs. This is behaviour can lead to him redirecting on whoever is near. When unable to escape he does have some leash aggression, interpreting any movement towards him as a threat. He has been making great strides towards correcting this, and rarely reacts to neighboring dogs. He would benefit greatly from a course specializing in reactive dogs. Jagger is an absolute sweetheart. He’s a cuddly fun boy that would do well in a dog savvy home with a well fenced yard with people willing to provide the training that the high energy and northern breeds need. He needs a quiet adult home with no other pets and experienced owners. Jagger is available for adoption together through Grand River All Breed rescue. The adoption donation is $400. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. Story
Pelusa | 40 lbs | 2 years old| Fun and affectionate personality | GTA Stop scrolling-- you just found your new best friend. And the twist? She's gorgeous! Pelusa is fun, affection and good vibes on four legs. Do you like adventures? Omg same! Do you enjoy playing with toys, balls, and sticks? Say less. Are you partial to an evening snuggle? Sign her up! Are you interested in having a faithful shadow? Is it cool if she's furry? We've got just the girl. Pelusa is a delight. She gives hugs by wrapping her arms around your legs, plays with toys like it's her paid job, and is game for pretty much anything her family wants to do. She is great on hikes and outdoor adventures, could happily come with you to pet friendly workplaces, and is also happy to chill on the couch at the end of the day. She's confident and adaptable, and responds well to direction. If you love dogs, have an active lifestyle, and are open to a loyal and slightly goofy sidekick, then this dog could light up your whole life. She's so much fun that she makes everything better just by being there. She would do well with a person or family who is energetic and home a fair bit. She's dog friendly so she'd be a great second dog, but is probably a little TOO much fun for a senior or a lower energy dog. She's kid friendly but would prefer a house with children over 10 who can appreciate her bouncy, lovable brand of play. With Pelusa in your life, your main problem will be how often you're stopped by people admiring her beautiful looks and infectious personality. This is what you sign up for when you choose such a magnetic BFF! If you think you've got the big and open heart to match Pelusa's, then please apply at the link. Please note: Matching Best Friends sweaters are not included.: https://form.jotform.com/pawsacrossthewater/adoption-application
