Story
Lucy is a gentle, sweet Border Collie mix who is about 9–10 years old. We adopted her from a shelter near Pittsburgh about eight years ago, and she has been a calm and loyal companion ever since. Lucy is a very mild-mannered dog who rarely barks and has never shown any aggression. She has grown up around our three children and has always been incredibly patient and tolerant. Lucy is a low-energy dog who prefers relaxing to running or playing. She would do best in a quiet home where someone is around more often to give her the attention and companionship she deserves. Due to our family’s increasingly busy schedule with work and kids’ activities, we are not home enough to provide the time and consistency she needs. Lucy is generally healthy and affectionate, and she would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a calm, easygoing dog to share their home with.

Story
Velvet is around 6 months old, 30 pounds of pure cuteness, snuggles, and zest for life. We’re guessing she may be a Border Collie or Husky mix (our girl is quite the little vocalist), but whatever she is, she’s 100% adorable. Don’t let the husky style commentary scare you off because she LOVES playing with other dogs and has done great in multiple playgroups. She’s just a young pup who benefits from guidance from other dogs and she takes correction beautifully. She’s absolutely KILLING IT with housebreaking and sleeps in her crate through the night like a champ. Velvet is still in that puppy stage (yes, the tiny shark teeth phase), so she can be a bit of a chewer, but hand her a bone and she’s good to go! Because of that playful puppy energy, she’d do best in a home with older kiddos and an active family! She is always on the go! She is sweet, social, snuggly, and ready for her forever family. If interested in fostering or adopting Velvet, please fill out an application found at www.allaboutthepawz.com Located in Youngstown, Ohio - must be within an hour or so of Youngstown. *we do not respond to inquires or matches, please fill out an application and we will reach out via email once received*

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Winston. I'm about 2-3 years old and I weigh about 57 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Columbiana area and I was brought into the pound. I am a sweet boy. I am energetic and would do well in a home where I can get plenty of exercise. I can be a bit stubborn when I first meet people and it can take me a little while to really bond with you, but once I get to know you and I respect you, I am a very good boy. I do appear to have been a house dog at one point. I do have accidents, but I try hard to keep my kennel clean. I do well with most other dogs, but should meet any other dogs I would live with, just to make sure we get along. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable.
