Story
Velvet is around 6 months old, 30 pounds of pure cuteness, snuggles, and zest for life. We’re guessing she may be a Border Collie or Husky mix (our girl is quite the little vocalist), but whatever she is, she’s 100% adorable. Don’t let the husky style commentary scare you off because she LOVES playing with other dogs and has done great in multiple playgroups. She’s just a young pup who benefits from guidance from other dogs and she takes correction beautifully. She’s absolutely KILLING IT with housebreaking and sleeps in her crate through the night like a champ. Velvet is still in that puppy stage (yes, the tiny shark teeth phase), so she can be a bit of a chewer, but hand her a bone and she’s good to go! Because of that playful puppy energy, she’d do best in a home with older kiddos and an active family! She is always on the go! She is sweet, social, snuggly, and ready for her forever family. If interested in fostering or adopting Velvet, please fill out an application found at www.allaboutthepawz.com Located in Youngstown, Ohio - must be within an hour or so of Youngstown. *we do not respond to inquires or matches, please fill out an application and we will reach out via email once received*

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi I am a very smart 56 pound collie mix looking for my forever family.A kind lady took me in because my previous owner could not care for me any more.Unfortunately she can't keep me because I scare her cats.I have to chase them every time I see them(I am told I have something called a high prey drive, don't get me started on squirrels.)As you can see in my video I am very smart learning new things very quickly.I get so excited and proud of myself when I learn something new and hear those words 'good boy' My favorite thing is to be with my people and make them happy.I also love rolling in the grass, chasing things and playing with other pups, and eating string cheese.I have always lived with another dog so would do best in a family that already has a pup that I can be friends with.I am crate trained and good on a leash.I have started a 10 lesson training session to make me even better on leash, more comfortable with my nails being done and a couple of other manner things to help me be even better then I already am.If a family adopts me before they are over guess what, that family gets the rest of the training sessions with me!Isnt that awesome? Are you looking for a second fur baby in your home to shower you with love and fun? Here I am!    Fenced in yard is required. No small children or cats please.Click here to watch a video of Percy-the super smart lover boy.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.     May 22, 2026, 2:00 pm

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Winston. I'm about 2-3 years old and I weigh about 57 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Columbiana area and I was brought into the pound. I am a sweet boy. I am energetic and would do well in a home where I can get plenty of exercise. I can be a bit stubborn when I first meet people and it can take me a little while to really bond with you, but once I get to know you and I respect you, I am a very good boy. I do appear to have been a house dog at one point. I do have accidents, but I try hard to keep my kennel clean. I do well with most other dogs, but should meet any other dogs I would live with, just to make sure we get along. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
Meet Riggs — a handsome 2-year-old border collie with a fun-loving personality and a heart full of loyalty! Riggs absolutely loves being around his people and is happiest when he’s included in everyday adventures. Whether it’s going for a hike, exploring outdoors, or just hanging out by your side, Riggs is ready to be your perfect adventure buddy. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends around. Riggs is housebroken in his foster home, though like many dogs, he may need a few reminders while adjusting to a new environment and routine. He also does excellent in a crate. Riggs is eager to please and highly food motivated, which makes training both fun and rewarding — especially if treats are involved! His affectionate personality, intelligence, and desire to be close to his people make him a wonderful companion. Riggs will come fixed, up to date on vaccinations, and current on preventative care. He’s ready to find a loving home to call his own! This animal is current on all age appropriate vaccines, dewormed, microchipped, and spayed/neutered or will go home with an already scheduled appointment. They have also been given flea prevention. Adoption fee is $350.00. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an application. http://www.ajssearchandrescue.org/adoption-application May 22, 2026, 5:59 pm

Story
Meet Percy! We have had Percy just over 2 weeks after his previous owner couldn't care for him. He has made a lot of progress since coming into our care and we are so proud of him!Percy turns 5 this month (May 2026). He is a Border Collie mix.He is sweet and very intelligent. He will be your best friend for life! The ideal new home will have no cats and at least one other dog. Percy loves friends and gets along great with all dogs!We do not know how he is with small children, but because he can be a little rambunctious, we think older kids or no kids would be better. He is highly trainable. He is 100% housebroken and knows sit, stay, leave it, down, house (to return to the crate), etc.He is learning how to be crate trained (doing really well!) and how to walk on the leash without pulling. He makes great progress every day!The ideal new home will understand that he is a work in progress but that he has a TON of potential!Rehoming because we have 3 cats and they aren't blending well.
