Story
Houdini is an active guy that currently weighs around 36 pounds. He loves attention and enjoys going to run in the play yard here at the shelter. He is around 1-2 years old and will need someone that has had experience with his breed. He needs someone that can work with him on commands and help him stay busy and well exercised! He does chase cats so a home without cats would be best for Houdini. He did test positive for Lyme and has been treated for it. He would love to find out what a loving forever home is all about! He is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, has been heartworm/tick borne disease tested, and microchipped.

Story
Stevie is a gorgeous border collie mix that is ready to find her forever family!🐾 This stunning pup is the partner in crime of Mama Lanie, and was rescued from under a trailer with her and her puppies. No one knows where Stevie and Lani came from, except that they were hungry abandoned lovable dogs when they were rescued in rural northern Alabama. She is also around 1 year old and 60lbs full grown! 🐶 Stevie is friendly, smart, high energy and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. She and Lani play well together and are the best of friends, but do not have to be adopted together. Because of her energy level she would be happiest with a playmate, and a big secure backyard. This girl can put in some serious miles of play!🎾 Due to her life on the streets, Stevie is a little “rough around the edges,” and is still learning her manners. Despite this, she is a love bug and her sweetness helps us forgive her lack of “manners.” She is a border collie and has the drive and energy of one, so we think she would love an established family that loves to adventure!🏕 Stevie’s ideal family would be one that can match her exuberance for life. She has so much stamina that if she were a person she would be a triathlete! She is working on her potty and leash training and learning quickly. If you want an athletic, fun loving girl for life, Stevie is the one for you! Story
⚔️ ZORRO🐾 Zorro is a 6-8 month old border collie mix that is ready to steal your heart! He is the goofiest little guy. He has a full body wiggle for every emotion, whether he’s happy, sleepy, or sad you’re making him go back to his crate. He also loves to stand between his foster parents legs every chance he gets! 🤣 He plays well with others & gets along well with all the dogs in his foster home! But he is a bit eager to play and the older dogs are teaching him manners about running up in their space. But he lovessss to play with all the younger dogs—big and small! 🐶 Zorro has never had an accident in the house! He loves to be where his humans are and is working on mastering his manners—he has reeled in the jumping and knows to politely ask for pets. 🥰 Zorro is very receptive to cues and eager to please! He is a little bit of a Houdini and was able to escape the rickety old crate in his foster home but has done better in a more sturdy one! He has been a happy go lucky guy ever since he was pulled from a euth list at a shelter! He loves everyone he meets—human and dog. He would love to have a yard and a friend to play with as well as a human who loves snuggles. He would do best in a home with dogs who want to play rather than couch potatoes! 🖤 If he sounds like the one for you, please apply! Story
Luna 💫 Lovely Luna is ready to bring light into your life ♥️ Luna is the largest puppy in her litter, but she's not a bully. She is interested in playing with other dogs, but she also likes to sit back and watch what's going on around her. With her slightly long fur and undercoat, she is definitely made for cooler weather. Something about her looks reminds her foster mom of a border collie, but without the nervous temperament. 🌸 Luna was born at the beginning of March, and though she spent her first two months living in a shed, she immediately took to being held by people and hanging out. She instinctively likes people, but isn't needy. There are some dogs that rescuers recognize immediately as good dogs, and Luna is definitely one of those. 💓 She is fully vetted with age appropriate shots, dewormer, spay, and microchip. She will need house and crate training. Luna has been fabulous to foster and we know she will make her forever family very happy! 🥰 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
Gypsy came from a bad home. She was not being fed and was severely underweight. So the people surrendered Gypsy and her puppies to animal control to avoid animal cruelty charges. Gypsy definitely has a herding dog breed in her mix. We think Border Collie. Gypsy is around 4 years of age and weighs 70 pounds (she only weighed 35 pounds when we got her). Gypsy is a very good girl and the most obedient dog I have ever seen. She can climb a 6-foot fence, but I caught her on the first try, told her no, and she has not attempted it since. Gypsy is fairly active. She bounces on her front legs when she is excited, and she loves to run and play with her toys. She especially loves squeaky toys. Gypsy loves water and lays in the wading pool when it is hot. She gets excited about squirrels and cats on the other side of the fence. Gypsy gets along best with male dogs and doesn't like annoying small dogs. Gypsy loves human attention and is good with children. She can sit and comes when called, She is crate-trained, house-trained, and otherwise very well-behaved in the house. She could perhaps use a bit more obedience training with someone that is firm, patient, and loving. Gypsy is very sweet. She gets attached to her human and likes to lay under my desk when I work on the computer. Gypsy walks well on a leash and rides well in the car. She must be in the house as a loved member of the family and would like a large yard with a 6' fence to run and play. Gypsy is healthy. She is spayed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Gypsy had a light case of heartworms when we first got her. We used the slow-kill method (we are happy to explain this) and she is now negative for heartworms and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gypsy's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Strasburg VA or Hagerstown MD. She is being fostered in Texas and we cannot afford to send her north until after she is adopted. Story
Koda is a ball of love and energy! He will keep you and your kids running for hours. We are a busy family but he seems to be outrunning us even and has recently started getting more aggressive towards our older animals and cats. He needs a nee family that has lots of land for him to run on! He's always seemed to do fine with younger dogs, loves to play!! I would recommend a home with no cats. We did find out recently he has a class 3 heart murmur, which is fixable but is quite an expensive procedure. This does not effect his daily life, but because of this putting him under Anastasia is dangerous so he is still intact. We want him to go to the perfect family home, small rehoming fee to reflect that. Please reach out with any further questions
