Story
Jake is the friendliest boy you will ever meet! His story is quite sad, but we're sure he's going to find his new loving home soon. Jake was an owner surrender after his owner died and the surviving family members could not keep him. Since he's been in our rescue, he's been incredibly well-behaved, quiet, and so eager to please! He adores every person he meets and does extremely well with people of all ages. Jake has been around other dogs and has done very well, but we have not tested him with cats yet. This can be done on request if interested. Jake is a medium sized dog and would do well in any type of home. He is very agile and would do great with a person/family that enjoys the outdoors but would also love to be a snuggle bug on the couch soaking in all the attention. Whatever the situation, we feel that Jake would be an amazing addition to any family! Jake is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and heartworm negative so he's ready to find his loving forever home! Please contact our rescue if you are interested in adopting or fostering. We will schedule a day/time for you to meet our adoptable animals first. If you decide to adopt or foster, we will provide an application to be approved. Once approved, an adoption or foster contract is signed. If you are fostering, you will be provided with all necessary items for the pet (food, bowls, crate, collar, leash, etc.). If adopting, we require an adoption fee that covers a portion of the cost of veterinary care. This is fully refundable for the life of the pet should the adoption fall through at any point. We will always take our pets back regardless of the situation.

Story
Lucy was found as a stray in a beautiful wooded neighborhood in NW Houston, likely dumped. This is unfortunately a common occurrence in this area. Lucy may be a purebred dog but we have no way to confirm this. She is a Smooth Coated Border Collie. Her age is also in question, so we are guessing she is about 5-6 years old. Lucy comes from a working breed and lives up to this reputation. She is not a dog companion. She does however like to keep all the dogs in the household in line. Lucy is a low energy dog enjoying lounging in her favorite spots on the stair landing or in front of the window where she can monitor all activity inside and outside. Other things she really enjoys are her daily walks (verbalizing her excitement), watching tv with you (and getting a back scratch), and crawling in bed in the morning to say hello. Lucy is very loving and affectionate, and would do really well as an only dog to a person or family with no small children. She does not mind children, but has a delicate back leg that should not be climbed on. She has been on a good joint supplement for this and it should be continued. Lucy is raw fed and has blossomed on this protocol. It helps her joint issue and keeps shedding from her silky coat to a minimum. We are looking for adopters that would continue this diet. She is house trained and extremely reliable. Lucy does not chew or destroy items left out. She is HW negative, spayed and up to date on her rabies vaccine. Hi there! I'm called Carlee. The original meaning of this name is "free man". Well in my case it's free woman - woohoo!!! I was abandoned and finally picked up by the PoPo when I was found roaming the streets. A nice police officer assumed a not so happy fate for me, so he decided to take me into his home for safe keeping until I could be turned over to Lucies. That day finally arrived!! I am here and meeting kinds of new friends and learning all kinds of new things. The peeps here are super duper nice and sweet, and they always have treats in their pockets. Can you believe that??!!! Now that I've been here a bit, I've seen a few doggies go and more come! While that saddens me to lose a friend, it also makes me happy to have new ones.
