Story
Meet Cannoli! Cannoli is a beautiful border collie mix who came to us as a stray with very little socialization. While she’s still a bit nervous around new people, she’s formed strong bonds with our staff and volunteers—and her sweet personality shines once she feels safe. Cannoli enjoys peaceful “sniffy” walks, splashing in the pool with her dog friends, and basking in the sun on calm days. She’s looking for a quiet, patient home where she can continue to grow in confidence and be reminded every day just how special she truly is.

Story
🌟 Adoption Spotlight: Meet Koda! 🌟 Say hello to Koda, our handsome and intelligent Border Collie mix! 🐾 Koda is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and fully vaccinated with Bordetella, Distemper, Lepto, and Rabies. He’s also on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention — healthy and ready to go! He is around 5 years old. This sweet boy is crate trained and does well with other dogs, though he prefers larger canine friends over smaller ones. Like any Border Collie, he’s got a natural prey drive and a strong desire to run, so a fenced yard and an active home are a must. Koda isn’t suited for livestock work — he’s looking for a companion home where he can use his smarts for play, training, and fun adventures. Koda is extremely intelligent and eager to please. He knows sit, hug, and roll over, and is working on improving his recall. Once he learns something, he doesn’t forget — he’s a fast study and a total people-pleaser! Though shy at first, Koda quickly warms up with patience and kindness. He can be a submissive pee-er, so gentle introductions are best. He’s also a bit of a “perimeter dog” — he loves running the fence lines, exploring his space, and keeping an eye on everything happening around him. Fun fact: Koda has had his name for several years and knows it well, so his future family will need to keep “Koda” or choose something similar like “Kody.” If you’re looking for a bright, loyal, and athletic companion who will keep up with your adventures and make you laugh along the way — Koda might just be your perfect match! 💛 📍 Location: Louisa, VA 📩 Interested? Story
This girl was found wondering around a business and was brought to us. She is friendly, happy but will be a good size dog when grown. She has not been in a house (that we know of), nor has been on a leash. She does okay in a crate and has no issues with other dogs. She is just a sweet girl who is now ready for a forever home. She is in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders.

Story
Meet Tahoe — One Sock Short of Perfection Tahoe is a friendly, affectionate gentleman who just happens to be missing a front sock (he has no idea how long its been missing). He loves people of all ages and has impeccable manners—no barking, jumping, or begging around food. Basically, the kind of dog who makes you look like a great trainer. On leash, Tahoe is a dream. He walks politely, rarely pulls, and enjoys stopping to sniff the world. Snow and outdoor adventures are his happy place, where his playful, energetic side shines. At home, Tahoe is calm, cozy, and well-behaved. He’s fully house-trained, sleeps through the night, and is perfectly content napping while you work. He entertains himself with toys or bones, never destroys belongings, and loves nothing more than curling up in a towel after a walk like a well-wrapped burrito. Tahoe is a certified shadow dog—loyal, cuddly, and always nearby. He thrives on affection, offers joyful “happy jiggles” when you return home, and is just as happy snuggling on the couch or in bed as he is playing tug-of-war. He’s great with guests, social, playful, and adapts beautifully to new situations (including car rides). Overall, Tahoe is the best of both worlds: calm and polite indoors, adventurous and fun outdoors. A loving, loyal companion who proves you don’t need all four socks to be absolutely perfect! Tahoe is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all of his vaccinations. You can meet him at the CASPCA between the hours of 12 and 6 PM daily, no appointment necessary. If you have any additional questions, please email adoptions@caspca.org.

Story
Pebbles is my sweet Blue Heeler mix who I adopted when he was only 8weeks old. He is very smart, sweet, goofy, and always loves some good “scratchies”. He enjoys hikes and walks, as well as playing with squeaky toys, but equally enjoys lazing contentedly around the house. He is house trained and has no separation anxiety. I never used a crate, he can be left alone and isn’t at all destructive. He chews toys he is given but leaves my son’s toys alone and never gets into food or trash. Unfortunately he has never taken to being a family dog. Pebbles ideal life would be in a home without children. He is good with other dogs. He displays anxiety and signs of aggression at times toward my child. Open to initiating behavioral modification training and slowly transitioning ownership if desired by a new family. We just cannot afford ongoing care with a Behavioral Specialist Vet. Pebbles also has allergies and we are managing those as best we can. Thanks for your consideration! ❤️🐶🫂

Story
In 2022, we adopted a three-month-old puppy from the SPCA in Virginia. Initially shy and anxious, Albus was listed as a Labrador, but a DNA test revealed he was a mix: 53% Australian Cattle dog, 19% Australian Shepherd, 17% Rottweiler, and 10% American Bulldog. Albus (now almost 3.5 years old) is a sweet, fun, and challenging dog. He is challenging due to his reactivity around strangers, which has improved greatly over the last year. We love Albus, and wish we did not have to rehome him - but we would also like to start a family. Having a baby, and managing a challenging dog is more than we feel we can handle. We are not in a huge rush, and want to find an ideal match. Albus would be a perfect companion in a home with space to run and play fetch, with no young children, and an experienced dog owner who can continue to train him. Because he can be reactive to strangers, a home without many new people coming by would be ideal. We are now in Potomac, Maryland - not Charlottesville!
