When not calming even the angriest of spartan rages, starting a quest to climb the highest peak in Midgard, or just relaxing by the fire, Faye is one of a kind. You'd be doing yourself a service by bringing her home with you. Faye is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all of her vaccinations. Story
Fireweed is a striking young Border Collie who loves romping and wrestling, and spends much of his day exploring the yard, sniffing through the underbrush, and checking in with his people for ear rubs, praise, or treats. Once settled into a new environment, Fireweed has a calm, affectionate side and enjoys simply being near his person. Fireweed is also doing beautifully with house and crate training. He keeps his crate clean overnight, relaxes comfortably in it even with the door open, and rides quietly while crated in the car. He settles best after a good mix of exercise, play, and mental enrichment. This boy is exceptionally quick to learn and thrives on mental challenges and engagement with his handler. An active home committed to continued training would be a wonderful fit. Fireweed is fast, agile, and eager to work, making him an exciting prospect for dog sports. Fireweed would do best in an active home with a yard to romp in, a playful canine companion, and adopters excited to continue building his confidence and channeling his incredible working mind. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well. */*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing and monthly heartworm preventative are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter. *****Due to the sheer number of animals and applications in our program, coupled with a limited number of volunteers, applicants MUST have patience as we process applications.   If you do not hear back from us, the animal may have been adopted.   We strive to let people know but sadly cannot offer reasons for denial beyond that.  Any harassment of our volunteers will go unanswered and we will simply block you.   Our volunteers spend their time working hard to ensure the very best for each animal.   Please remember the animal, not the applicant, is our client.*****  ##2744939##

Story
Purple Allium is a sweet, mischievous puppy who approaches life with fearless enthusiasm despite being deaf and vision impaired. She’s endlessly curious, always exploring, and somehow manages to find herself in the funniest situations. This clever, busy girl would thrive in a home ready to keep her Border Collie brain engaged with training, enrichment, and adventure. She would likely excel at trick training or scent work, and she already enjoys settle work and learning tactile cues. Purple Allium crates well overnight, rides calmly crated in the car, and is doing beautifully with house training. Affectionate, playful, goofy, and full of confidence, Purple Allium is looking for an active home committed to continuing her positive reinforcement training. Because she explores the world through touch and scent, she can be a little mouthy and overly enthusiastic when excited. She would love a canine buddy and a fenced yard where she can romp, investigate, and keep life entertaining. At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. Story
Zay was found stray wandering around an elementary school in Mendota, CA at approximately 8 weeks old... getting a jump start on her education. She was transported to us, and has become a definite favorite. While she is adored by many, she has yet to find the perfect home. She is high energy and has a habit of jumping and punching you right where it hurts. We cannot stress enough how much she LOVES everyone and everything, but she is still learning that not everyone loves her. She is simply too much for some. Despite being intense, she does submit to other dogs when they put her in her place. Zayna Insane-uh (her nickname) is looking for an active home with another dog who can keep up with her. On the flip-side, she also loves snuggles when she's worn out. She is crate trained. Loves: MUD water toys (any, but stuffies might be the fave!) benebones, kongs, or pupsicles anything with a pulse running FULL SPEED punching your private parts breweries Hates: four feet on the floor anything too clean or tidy slow walkers

These pups are in Charlottesville, Virginia too!

Story
If pure joy had four legs and a tail, it would absolutely be Butter. We’re pretty sure his brain runs on “Sunshine, Lollipops & Rainbows” 24/7 — and honestly, it’s part of his charm. Butter is the definition of a happy-go-lucky dog. A little silly, a little clueless and 100% the kind of pup who wakes up every day believing something wonderful is about to happen. Butter didn’t grow up in the best circumstances, but you would never know it by the way he acts now. Since joining DDBBR at the beginning of the year, he has been nothing but a warm, golden Buttery light beaming at the chance to live free from the chain he use to be tethered to. Despite his cheerful spirit, Butter has only ever lived outdoors or in boarding — he’s never had a true family of his own. And he deserves that chance more than anything. The silver lining is that boarding has allowed us to really get to know him, and we can happily share that Butter enjoys the company of most other dogs! He’s still polishing up some of his social skills (we lovingly call him a “sweet himbo” around here), so a meet and greet with resident dogs is a must. Whoever opens their home to Butter won’t just be giving a dog a chance — they’ll be changing his entire world. And you won’t be doing it alone: DDBBR will support you 100%, including training right off the bat to set you up for success. If you’re looking for a loyal, goofy, sunshine-filled companion who will make you smile every single day… Butter is your boy.

Story
Meet Puca 🐾 Looking for a dog who’s up for whatever you’ve got planned? Morning walk? She’s ready. Weekend hike? Even better. Evening run? She can't wait. Lazy evening in a lawn chair? She’ll be there too… probably already sitting in it. Meet Puca. With her iconic ears and one of a kind personality, we know she will find her perfect forever. She’s the kind of dog who brings a happy, easygoing energy to everything she does. Yes, she loves to play, explore, and stretch her legs — but she also knows how to settle in and just hang out with her people. Puca is affectionate, goofy, and always in a good mood. She’s the dog who will make you laugh without trying and then curl up nearby like she’s been part of your routine forever. She’s also a smart cookie: she knows sit and down, is crate trained, does well going potty outside on a schedule, and genuinely enjoys learning new things. Give her something to do — a walk, a game, a little training — and she’s all in. She's eager to please and would love a forever family that can keep her mind working and enriched! She’d thrive in a home that enjoys getting out and about and just someone (or someones!) who wants a dog to share a life with. She loves other dogs, she loves her people, and she’s very ready to find a place where she belongs. We've learned so much about our sweet girl since she came into our program, and the most important is that no matter what life throws at her, she is determined to keep enjoying it. If you’re looking for a dog who can match your pace — whatever that looks like — Puca might be your girl. Submit an application today!
