FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet Thorne from the Witchy litter! His siblings were adopted a couple months ago - and while the litter started off shy, they quickly adjusted and found homes. Thorne however stayed a bit concerned and retreated when new people showed up in his foster home. A switch to a different foster home started him down the road of training and outings. He got the hang of a leash and riding in a car. His foster took him out to experience new things. Thorne saw lots of improvement... and once he knows you as part of his circle, he is sweet and silly and a good boy. We moved him again to the puppy coordinator's home to figure out a few last issues. We learned that he's just a boy who needs to build his confidence. Again, after just a day in his new foster home - once he know all the people living there, he was 'all in.' He loves the resident dogs - and even learned what a cat is! Thorne is beautiful, and so soft. He's having a growth spurt, and is all legs. The DNA has 21 different breeds. Thorne was the largest in the litter so we are guessing he will be in the 60-70# range when fully grown. We hope his little white forehead blaze never disappears - it's adorable. We think another friendly dog in the home would be great to help with the transition to his new life. From the beginning, we knew he was smart. In his first foster home, he used a bell to go outside. In his second, he learned sit and knows touch, shake and down. He is completely crate trained, at night and during the day. Housebreaking is going great. Any accidents have been the fault of his foster mom - not recognizing he needs to go out - and those have been few. He will need a PATIENT home that is prepared to continue working with him. New people are his challenge - so taking him on adventures to get over his fear of new people will be important. Because of his current 'fraidy cat' nature - we think a home with older kids is best, or an adult only home. Again, another friendly dog is a must. This puppy is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood area. Adoption fee is $475. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.

Meet Buddy, your next adventure partner!Buddy is a 6-month-old, medium-sized mixed breed with a heart as big as his smile. He’s the perfect blend of playful puppy energy and sweet snuggle-bug charm. Buddy loves to run, explore, and go on adventures, then happily curl up for cuddles when the day winds down. He’s social and friendly with other dogs and absolutely adores people. While he hasn’t had experience with cats yet, his young age and happy-go-lucky personality make him a great candidate for gentle introductions.Buddy is looking for a family who wants a loyal companion to grow up with, someone to explore trails, toss a ball, and share cozy moments at home. If you’re ready for puppy kisses, wagging tails, and a best friend by your side, Buddy might be your perfect match.Buddy is available for adoption through Orcas Animal Protection Society.
