Story
Shared by Bruce's Foster Parent- What a fun lil guy he is! He is very smart. Learns quickly, so we have sit, come, stay and place. I've designated a little dog fleece for him as his place and he will go to it and sit. All works in progress but pretty darn good for one night with him. We will do 20 minute drills on this stuff over the course of days. He is like a little over -ull water balloon, always ready to pee. But I am learning his signals and we are getting a groove of getting outside before peeing. This will need much more work but a good start. He comes with a built in fetch mode, so playing ball is fun.He has a great sense of smell. He will find treats and uses his nose a ton. He will answer in kind if a dog barks at him, but he will listen to NO and stop. And then not do it again. Bruce is getting practice on NOT BARKING back. He is a bit wary when first meeting a new person, but that is overcome quite readily. He really wanted a Mommy. I am clearly that to him. Wants to be with me and preferably on me if he can. But will settle in a crate or my gated off room if left alone and ignored when whines.Bruce loves children but not other animals. He is a dominant puppy that does not back down. He prefers to be with his person and can be vocal when he is left alone. He will benefit greatly from positive training and a fenced yard. This border collie mix is young, smart and ready for a family with a job for him.

Story
Hi there. My name is ORRIO (Oreo) and here is a bit of info about me:Breed: Border Collie / Labrador mixAge: 3 yrsGender: femaleWeight: 38 lbsHeight: tbd Left in the freezing cold in Lebanon to fend for themselves at a young age, I was found on the streets roaming around and looking for food in the garbage. Me and my best friend Ollio were constantly harassed by passerbys. We were threatened with being shot, if not removed. Thankfully, a rescuer came through for us. I was pregnant when found and since had 4 adorable puppies (they will be up for adoption later.) I was transferred to a boarding shelter until a home was found.  You will notice I am the calm, bright-eyed one. Very loyal and clever is this girl. I certainly enjoy snuggling, a real cuddle bug they call me. While I'd love to find a home with my pal Ollio, it is not a requirement. Energy Level: moderate I get along with:Dogs: yesCats:  noKids: no Prey drive: fairly high. My adopter needs to be willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. Fears: none observed. Training: a bitLeash skills: Some. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained:  No. Please be prepared to help me learn! Health notes: no health issues.I am spayed/neutered, vaccinated & microchipped. My adoption fee is $750.00. The adoption fee for me and my buddy Ollio together is $1000. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##1374363##

My name is Jelly Bean, but you can call me by my nickname, Jiji. Here is a little info about me:Breed: Border Collie/Husky mixAge: 4 YearsGender: maleWeight: 21 kg Height: 77 cmHighlight(s): gentle, kind, both active & calm Hi all, Jelly Bean here. I am a pretty unique looking boy as I have one brown eye and one blue eye. I was found seconds before being killed by mean people in a village in the Middle East. I don't know what I had done, but all I know is that people didn't like me to be around them.  Thanks to my amazing rescuers who believe in my gentle manner and kind soul. They are the reason why I got the second chance in life. I am looking for my forever home in Canada so I can experience the life I have always deserved.  I would love to have a relaxing home, where we can get out for hikes, yet chill like cucumbers at home too. I think we could build a lovely rapport without even talking. Just look into my eyes and you'll know my depth of love for you. Energy Level: moderate  I get along with:Dogs: yes, but selectiveCats: unsureKids: Yes! Check out my photos :) Fears: unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition. Training: NoneLeash skills: Yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: Not really. Please help me learn. I have been really good learning things! Health notes: I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.  My adoption fee is $700 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. [MID-EAST DOGS] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. ##1650413##

Story
UPDATE: I am now in Canada and all ready to go to my forever home! I have been with a nice family, but then they had more family members move in and so the home became a bit small for all the humans and two dogs. My new foster says the same things about me that my past foster said - I am quiet and relaxed at home, I love the outdoors and dog parks and I'm a good leash walker. One of my biggest qualties is that I'm loyal. I will go to the window when my foster mom leaves and I'll watch her as she goes. I'll also hear her call when she returns and my tail starts to wag as I stand at the window and watch her return.  I am highly intelligent, 100% housetrained, and able to understand several commands including sit, heel, out, bed, stay. I also am known for really wanting to please my humans, although I am still feeling a bit nervous around some strangers, particularly men, when we're out walking. Given what I have learned so far in such a short time, I'm sure that I will learn to relax and trust humans who I don't know. While I like socializing with other dogs, at home I prefer being the only dog in a family. I can accept another dog being there but I'm not interested in a relationship with him/her, only with my humans. Also, given that I have a fairly sensitive personality which can cause me to feel nervous at times, I am not a good match for a home with kids and perhaps not a cat. Hi there, my name is GIGGLY and here is some info about me:Breed: Saluki/Border Collie mixAge: 2-1/2 yearsGender: maleWeight: 18 kgHeight: 50 cm Tossed out of a moving car in the Middle East when I was only two months old, a good Samaritan called the shelter and told the owner to go and find me in the bushes on the freeway. They literally had to go and search around where I was tossed to find me.  I am a very affectionate and happy dog with the humans to whom I'm close. I don't care much about connecting with other dogs - I can have a visit at the dog park and then be happy to go home with my human.  The staff named me Giggly. I always make everyone laugh, because I have so much energy and I do the funniest things at the shelter. Because I am in a shelter environment, there is no way to know about cats, but because of my high energy levels, the staff doesn’t think it would be a good idea for me to be around cats, as I might chase them. That is merely a guess though. Energy Level: moderate Get along with:Dogs, yesCats, unknown, though recommendation is noKids, no Prey drive: yes, with squirrels, rabbits, etc...  Fears: I am still fairly fearful of strangers when out on walks, particularly men. My response is to move away from them rather than to confront. Training: basic, but very eager to learn more & loves praise as he learns new thingsLeash skills: learning very quickly, accepts leash easily, learning heelHouse trained: yes Health notes:I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD + applicable taxes.  Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. Story
Hello there, my name is Maxwell. Sounds distinguished, doesn't it? Here are some facts about me:Breed: Border Collie/Lab mixAge: 3 years oldGender: maleWeight: 50 lbsHighlights: rather laid back, enthusiastic, playful, cuddly Skills: I am housetrained but I don't get much practice walking on a leash as I currently live on a farm where I have a lot of space to run around. I have a moderate energy level. I'm actually a fairly laid back kind of guy - I love to run and play outside and then come inside for a nice cuddle. I LOVE car rides and I love my food. This can make me responsive to treat rewards for learning new stuff but it also means that I like dining on my own so I can make sure that I don't miss out on any of my delicious food. Don't get me wrong, I do like to have other dogs to play with but perhaps not little dogs. For whatever reason, I'm wary of them but I love hanging out with dogs my own size or bigger. Please, I don't socialize with the feline types and I am a bit too rambunctious to make me a good companion for kids. My foster says I'm a great sleeper and then, when I wake up, I'm eager to get my day going. I would really love a big fenced yard and some loving humans to adopt me and then we can go on a whole bunch of exciting car trips. Would you like to join me! Health: I have been immunized, microchipped, and neutered. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes.
