Story
Hi, I'm Cash! I'm a 2-year-old male heeler. I am current on my vaccines, neutered, and soon to be heartworm tested and microchipped. 3 words that describe me: Friendly, Curious, Affectionate Words from Cash's foster mom: Cash is doing great in our home! He is fantastic with our dog and family. It is incredible to see how much things have changed for Cash in just one week. He went potty in the house the first two days, but he's done perfectly since then.?? We could hardly get him in the door that first night, and now he's coming up to us for pets and licks. He loves the crate and spends most of his day in there, but he relaxed outside of the crate for a little more than an hour the past two evenings. We bring the crate into our bedroom every night, and he loves sleeping in the same room. He is still skittish from time to time, but overall he seems happy and comfortable. I was brought to CRHS after being rescued from a large scale animal neglect case in Juneau County where around 80 other dogs were saved. Due to my rough start, I am a bit of a shy guy. I would appreciate a calm living environment and my forever family will need to be willing to take things at my pace. Once I get to know you I'm super friendly and affectionate. I'll be a lap dog in no time! Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 7/10 Housetraining Status: Foster family says after a couple of days he does well!! I should do well in a home: Due to my nervous temperament any children in my potential home will need to be 5 years or older. I should do well with other dogs given proper introductions and time to adjust. My friends at CRHS are unsure how I'd do with cats. My favorite activities are: Getting affection, going for walks, and enjoying the outdoors! Things I need work on are: Learning what everything is in this big world is/learning how to be a dog, basic commands. My adoption fee is: $300 *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Hi, I'm Tiny! I'm a 1-year-old female heeler. I am current on my vaccines, spayed, microchipped and heartworm negative! 3 words that describe me: Friendly, Curious, Affectionate Words from Tiny's foster mom: Tiny has come so far since coming to our home. She has mastered the use of stairs, now welcomes visitors with ease and takes snacks from us. She loves going for walks and playing outside in the fenced yard. She wags her tail and loves being a dog! She'd do well to have another friendly dog in the home that can help her keep building her confidence! I was brought to CRHS after being rescued from a large scale animal neglect case in Juneau County where around 80 other dogs were saved. Due to my rough start, I am a bit of a shy lady when I first meet people. I would appreciate a calm living environment and my forever family will need to be willing to take things at my pace. Once I get to know you I'm super friendly and affectionate. I'll be a lap dog in no time! Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 7/10 Housetraining Status: Foster family says after a couple of days she is amazing! I should do well in a home: Due to Tiny getting startled easily, any kids in the home should be 5+ who will not startle or scare/chase her. She should do well with other dogs given slow and proper introductions. My friends at CRHS are unsure how I'd do with cats as I've never lived with one. My favorite activities are: Getting affection, going for walks, and enjoying the outdoors! Things I need work on are: Building her confidence, basic commands. Story
Hi! My name is Storm. I am a 2 year old male Heeler. I am heartworm tested and current on my vaccines, and soon to be neutered and microchipped. I am a foster-to-adopt candidate until my neuter! 3 words that describe me: Affectionate, Playful, cuddly. Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: I was brought to CRHS after being rescued from a large scale animal neglect case in Juneau County where around 80 other dogs were saved. Despite having rough beginnings I am a very sweet and affectionate guy. I am a curious guy, willing to learn new things especially with my favorite humans by my side. Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10) 8 – Active guy. Housetraining Status: Working on it, needs training. I should do well in a home: I should do well in a home with other dogs given proper introductions and time to adjust. I have never met a cat before so my humans don’t know how I will be around them. I would do great in homes with children of all ages given proper adult supervision. My favorite activities are: I love being with my humans! I like to cuddle and get all the pets and scratches I can!. Things I need work on are: Basic commands and housetraining. Any special needs: None Doggy day out notes: "Does well in the car, laid down right away but getting in and out is scary. Stairs are also a little scary. Super sweet and friendly dog but could use a little training still!" "We didn't do too much today due to cold weather. He needed just a little assistance getting into the car, he didn't quite understand (which is ok!). He loved going on a walk and chasing some squirrels. He ended up taking a nice nap in my car. With proper training storm will do absolutely amazing in a home. He is so cuddly and well behaved!" "Did well with people on trails. When approached by bigger groups or unfamiliar dogs, he needed to feel secure. We let him walk in between our legs and he seemed to relax when passing. Never barked." "Storm loved the car ride and getting a pup cup! He loves to smell everything and everyone. He loved going on a hike and running in the leaves. He is a little anxious but such a sweetheart when he gets comfortable." Daycare Status: I haven’t attended daycare yet, maybe some day. My adoption fee is: $300 Training Requirement if applicable: None *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
Help us find Charlotte a home 2 years and still not adopted  Mama Charlotte came to us with her babies (Nellie, Fern, Templeton etc). They were all adopted quickly and, 2 YEARS later, Charlotte is STILL waiting to find her furever home .  We’re really hoping to find her an adoptive home soon otherwise she would drastically benefit from a new quieter foster home where she can be the only dog. Charlotte is around 50lbs and is a cattle dog mix of sorts and we believe she’s about 5 years old She LOVES people of all ages and responds well to (re)direction so she is easily trainable.  She takes cues from her humans very quickly, even those she just met, as she just wants to please. She will look to her humans for tasks (her energy is true to her breed, a working breed, so would thrive if given a “job”).  Charlotte doesn’t share toys or bones well with other dogs so, to be safe, we think it’s best she be the only dog in the home, but she has done fine with kitty's! She will do best with an active house hold where she can get plenty of exercise, both physical and mental, and has a fenced in yard. Charlotte LOVES playing fetch, although you may need a full bucket of balls since sometimes she forgets she has to actually drop the ball so you can throw it but she could play for hours.  Car rides are a YES PLEASE for Charlotte as she enjoys them very much! Water, on the other hand, she says NO THANK YOU. We haven’t broken it to her yet that she won’t melt in water but she sure thinks she will!  Charlotte, as is with most dogs, will also benefit from professional training, to not only help her learn so many things, but also give her new family a chance to understand what she needs and what will truly help her thrive. She’s 5 years old and has likely never had a home of her own. Help us find her that special home where she can finally relax and enjoy the wonders of being a family dog .  Charlotte is also available for our foster to adopt program. Please message us if you’d like more information!  If you can foster, or are interested in adopting, Charlotte, and are Pre-approved, please private message us, or APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com (or private message us if you’re already preapproved!) **Charlotte’s adoption fee is $200 and will include current vet check, UTD vaccinations, microchip, and current HW test. ##1833628##

Story
Rex is a great little one year old dog who finds himself looking for a furever home. He is currently in Texas but if we find a foster or pre-adoptive home for him, he can catch a lift to Wisconsin around Nov. 11th. He loves people and has been fine around kids as young as 5. He does fine with dogs and ignored the cats he has met. Rex was being trained as a service dog but due to some personal issues that came up in the family, they could no longer keep him.   He is about 60 lbs.    His $200 adoption fee will cover his neuter, heartworm test, arabies and distemper vaccines, and microchip. You can find an application for him on our website, www.newleashdogrescue.com ##2559008##

Story
Mingus is currently in foster care, and this is what his foster family says about him! Mingus is an 18 lb Heeler mix puppy and an absolute darling. He is the perfect mix of playful puppy energy and a cozy, snuggle bug.Mingus wants to play with, kiss, and snuggle every animal and person he meets. For a stray puppy, he is remarkably well-behaved in the home. Pleasing people comes naturally to him. He sits and lies down on command, sits patiently by the door for walks, walks well on a leash, returns to a whistle, and is fast learning the difference between toys and socks. He will even opt to nap on the couch all alone when he's tired enough. When directed off furniture, he abides. He has not been kennel trained in foster care and will most likely bark/whine if he is kenneled but knows people are home. He just wants to be included in everything. Mingus takes treats gently and barely cares about food. He seems to be a "grazer" and may benefit from a household that allows him to free feed. He shows no signs of food aggression, but occasionally resource guards human attention from his biggest foster sister (85lb Rotti mix). He usually seeks his smallest foster sister to play with (16 lb Aussie). He has taken corrections from his foster dog siblings and will likely find his place in any pack (if you have other dogs). Mingus would do GREAT with a family, with or without other pets. He would be a great "first family puppy" (*cough* Christmas? *cough*). He plays gently with kids and listens to their commands. Though he is a high-energy breed, his small size and personality, would make him just as successful out in the country or in a house/apartment in town.
