Story
Greetings, my name is Garth! I'm a 3-year-old male border collie mix. I am current on my vaccines, heartworm tested, neutered, and microchipped. 3 words that describe me: Sweetheart, Smart, Playful Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: I'm a loving guy who greets the world with a smile! I can be a little shy when meeting new people, but it doesn't take me too long to warm up to them. I'm super playful and love toys of all kinds, though I seem to favor balls. With that being said I am a hard chewer so I will need some strong toys! Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 6 or 7/10 Housetraining Status: I have been good at keeping my kennel clean, although it may take me some time to adjust to a new schedule. I should do well in a home: I will need to meet any dogs in my potential home before adoption. I should do well with children of all ages given proper supervision. My friends at CRHS are unsure how I'd do with cats. My favorite activities are: Playing with toys!!!! I love cuddling my humans and getting affection from them as well. Things I need work on are: I could use a little more work with my basic commands and leash walking. Any special needs: N/A Doggy day out notes: "Garth did well with everything and everyone he encountered. He was neutral to everything around him, we even walked past a large group of ducks and he just looked and kept walking. His leash walking skills are great! He doesn’t pull and is easily redirected. He seems to be handler focused for the amount of time that we got to know him, and eager to please. He LOVED the flirt pole, we played with that for a while and he was super excited the whole time. Garth did so well overall and I think he’d be great in just about any home. He was so content hanging out, but willing to get up and run around/play too!" "Garth was great. He is really smart. He knows sit, down, touch, and even can catch a treat in mid-air. He did great on leash and did pull a bit but not terrible to where you can't redirect him. He loves to check in when walking as well and can be able to tell to slow down if needed. He does like using his nose and is kind of food motivated. And he is a snuggle-bug, where he'll sit by your side and lean into you." "Garth is truly a special little guy! He needs to build some confidence and is definitely a little nervous at times, but he warms up to people really quick and is super affectionate and becomes very mellow when he gets pets and belly scratches. He is very smart and highly trainable! Was almost 100% with Sit and lay down and we started practicing “look at me!” on walks which he was very receptive to and by the end of the day he would look at me to check in whenever a new person entered. He does need a bit of leash training but was pulling less by the end of the day. He is playful and has energy but was also very calm and patient just hanging out in my office for a while!" "Garth was awesome! Liked riding in the truck, hiking, and playing in the dog park. Interacted well with everything and everyone we encountered. Listened well and walked on leash without pulling, and loved being outside. Very loving easy-going personality. A joy to be around." Story
Major is a 1 year old Red Heeler. I adopted him from a farm with two pure bread Australian Cattle Dog parents. Major is a wonderful and very loving heeler. He loves people and other dogs. Amazingly he is not a barker or a nipper. I have trained those things out of him and he is very well behaved. He has been trained to be around very small children. He was to become my service dog. He plays nicely with children from as young as 3 years old without hearding them or nipping. Major is a very obediant dog as well. He understands recall, sit, down, up (jump up onto platforms), and other dog tricks. He loves to play fetch and go for bike rides. He is a great hunting companion as well as I have also trained him for small game hunting and we were working on tracking. He is very smart and learns almost instantly, so anything you train him to do he will pick it up quickly. He is very food motivated. He does well on a leash and even off leash.
