Story
Want a little dog who will play with the big dogs, then curl up beside you? Hudson could be your dog. Hudson is 9mo to 1yr per our local vet estimate, best guess maybe a Border Terrier mix, about 20 pounds, who loves playing with dogs of all sizes. He’s good with kids, walks well on a leash, and is just as happy to settle in for a cuddle when playtime is done. He’s still working on crate training and house training, so his new family should be ready to keep teaching him. We don’t yet know how he does with cats. Hudson is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and ready to meet his people. His adoption fee is $375. Could Hudson fit your family? Apply at eapl.com and tell us about the home you could give him. Meet Leia A Sweet Little Border Terrier Mix Ready to Be Someone’s Beloved Companion Breed: Border Terrier Mix Gender: Female | Age: 9/28/2026 Weight: 12 lbs Good With: Dogs ✔️ | Kids ✔️ | Cats: Unknown Personality: ❤️ Sweet | Loving | Playful | Affectionate Medical: Spayed and vaccines up to date Location: Los Angeles, California Transportation: Ozzie and Friends Rescue coordinates safe transportation for approved adopters throughout the United States. ❤️ Personality & Breed Information Leia is an adorable Border Terrier mix weighing approximately 12 pounds. She's a sweet young girl with a lovable personality, a playful spirit, and plenty of affection waiting for the family lucky enough to call her their own. Leia is good with other dogs and children, while her compatibility with cats is currently unknown. At only one year old, Leia is still a young dog with plenty of energy and curiosity, but she's beginning to move beyond the puppy stage. She's at a wonderful age for a family looking for a little companion they can continue training, exploring with, and building a lifelong bond with. ❤️ Personality & Breed Information Border Terriers are known for being friendly, affectionate, curious, and full of personality. They often have a wonderful combination of playful Terrier energy and a loving, people-oriented nature, making them fun little companions who enjoy being part of everyday family life. As a Terrier, they may also be bright, confident, adventurous, and eager to explore. They benefit from daily walks, playtime, mental enrichment, and positive-reinforcement training to keep both their body and mind engaged. With plenty of affection, consistency, and opportunities to have fun, a Border Terrier can make a loving, entertaining, and devoted little companion Training, Adjustment & What to Expect At one year old, Leia is still learning and maturing. Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best, so her adopter should be prepared to continue working on house training as needed, leash manners, basic commands, recall, household boundaries, and positive socialization. Small dogs need training and structure just as much as larger dogs. Positive reinforcement, patience, and consistency will help Leia understand what is expected of her while strengthening the bond she shares with her new family. The 3-3-3 Rule 3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe 3 Weeks to understand her new household routine 3 Months to fully settle in, build trust, and feel at home These are guidelines rather than deadlines. Leia should be given the time she needs to adjust comfortably to her new life. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Leia's spay, vaccination, and microchip status have not been provided. Her adopter should review her medical records with a veterinarian and continue routine wellness examinations, recommended vaccinations, parasite prevention, dental care, quality nutrition, grooming, nail care, healthy weight management, and veterinary treatment whenever necessary. Dental care is especially important for small dogs, so Leia's teeth and gums should be monitored throughout her life. Her coat may also require routine professional grooming depending on its length and texture. If Leia has inherited the shorter facial structure sometimes seen in Shih Tzus, her family should be mindful of heat and strenuous exercise, especially during hot or humid weather. Adoption Information If you are interested in adopting Leia, please complete an adoption application: https://www.ozzieandfriendsrescue.org/adoptions Ozzie and Friends Rescue is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to rescuing dogs in need and helping them find safe, loving forever homes. While based in Southern California, we coordinate safe transportation for approved adopters throughout the United States. Our goal is to give every dog the best possible chance of finding the right family and a home where they will be loved and cared for throughout their life. Adopting Leia means committing to her veterinary care, grooming, training, safety, companionship, and happiness for the rest of her life. Leia may be only 12 pounds, but she has a whole lot of love waiting to be given. She's young, sweet, and ready for walks, cuddles, adventures, and all those ordinary little moments that turn a dog into family. Now Leia just needs someone to choose her—and keep choosing her for all the years ahead.October 2, 2026, 10:11 am

Story
Meet Lucy! Lucy is an incredibly sweet, playful girl with a big personality and an even bigger capacity for love. She’s the kind of pup who can spend the day running, playing, and having a blast—and then happily crawl into bed with her people for some serious cuddle time. In her previous home, Lucy lived with another dog and did wonderfully with her older canine sibling. She also lived with a cat and enjoyed chasing her around, although her family did not observe aggression toward her. A future home with cats should be prepared to supervise interactions and continue working on appropriate boundaries. Lucy absolutely loves getting out, exploring, and meeting new people. She can sometimes be a little cautious in new, busy, or loud situations, but some reassurance from her person goes a long way. Once she feels comfortable, her sweet and affectionate personality shines through. One of Lucy’s favorite people in her previous home was their 6-year-old son. The two were described as “two peas in a pod.” They loved running around the yard together, Lucy happily accepted his hugs, sought him out for companionship, and would even cuddle up with him at night. However, Lucy has shown that very young children are not a good fit for her. She was uncomfortable around the family’s 2-year-old and would growl when he entered her personal space. Her past family sought help from a trainer and worked with Lucy, but she continued to communicate that she was uncomfortable around their toddler. Ultimately, they made the incredibly difficult decision to return her so she could find a home where everyone—including Lucy—could feel comfortable and safe. Because of this history, Lucy is looking for a home without toddlers or very young children. Her experience with an older child was wonderful, but as with any dog, interactions with children should always be appropriately supervised and her boundaries respected. Lucy really is a wonderful girl. She’s playful, social, affectionate, dog-friendly, adventurous, and an excellent cuddler. Her previous family loved her dearly, and returning her was not an easy decision. They simply recognized that their home was not the right environment for Lucy to thrive. Now she gets another chance to find the family that is. If you’re looking for a sweet, fun-loving companion who can play hard, explore the world with you, and then curl up beside you at the end of the day, Lucy might just be your girl.   They were rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  ##2819541##
