Story
Meet Bruce, a 7-month-old Boston mix pup weighing 17 lbs with the spirit of an old soul. He's equal parts velcro-dog and independent thinker — happiest as your shadow, but growing more confident on his own every day. Bruce plays well with others, reading and respecting the signals of dogs who'd rather not, and he adores a good game of fetch. His perfect days are full of bullsticks, yard time, and exploring, capped off with a cozy curl-up in your lap. He'd thrive in a home with a fenced yard, or with an active family ready for plenty of walks and adventures. Bruce is still learning to communicate when he needs to go out (he's making great progress, and is also pad-trained), and because of flat feet likely caused by extensive early crate time, he does best with a room of his own instead of a crate when you're away. If you're looking for a snuggly adventure buddy who's part puppy, part gentle old soul, Bruce might just be your guy. Click below to apply to adopt him! If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will be in touch The adoption fee of $550 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm, and any other necessary medical treatment to ensure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe the breed, since our pups all come from shelters, we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *Please note that we are a foster home-based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 18, 2026, 5:04 pm

Nina has many wonderful qualities, I believe she would thrive better in a home that she will receive all the time and attention that she deserves. She is approximately 5 years old, spayed, house trained. She is loving, affectionate with people, and enjoys walks, cuddles, car rides, etc. Nina has lived with a small dog and cat; however we feel with an experienced adopter she may be open to gain more social skills with other furfriends. She has some anxiety and would love a solo owner but under the right circumstance and being well managed; we think she can flourish! We would prefer a family that is an experienced dog owner. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to continue providing the environment she requires, which is why I am reaching out for assistance. I want to ensure she has the best possible chance at a safe and happy life.

Story
🐷💕 Welcome Miss Piggy! 💕🐷 Sometimes all it takes is the right person seeing the right dog at the right moment. Miss Piggy found herself as an unclaimed stray at a facility that was running dangerously low on both time and space. As kennel populations climbed, her situation became increasingly urgent. When we learned about this spotted little cow of a girl, we knew we had to try to help. And just like that, the universe did its thing. A foster stepped up and said “yes” to the adorable black-and-white meatball who was running out of options. No shelter dog should have their future determined by a lack of kennel space, and thanks to her foster, Miss Piggy’s story is headed in a much different direction. We have a feeling this chunky little moo cow is going to fit right in around here. All good things from here!
