Meet Samwise ("'Sam") Sam is a 1½-year-old black and white Boston Terrier with a gentle, shy personality. He's a sweet dog who does best with patience and a calm environment. Sam has been around kids, other dogs, and cats, and gets along well with all of them. He's easygoing and not reactive. He is still working on potty training and crate training and will need consistency and routine to continue improving. He is comfortable going up and down stairs and does well on a leash during walks. Sam would be a good fit for a family or individual looking for a mild-mannered dog who needs some guidance and reassurance to build confidence. - Age: 1 year, 8 months - Birthday: 5/2/2024 - Breed: Boston Terrier mix - Appearance: Black and tan with a white chest and paws - Size: Medium, 28.4 pounds Temperament and Training: Frodo is an absolute sweetheart who thrives on one-on-one time and cuddles. He is potty trained and will use pads during extreme weather. While he is still learning to walk on a leash, he shows improvement with every outing. He is generally very quiet and not a barker. However, he does experience some separation anxiety and may bark for a period after I leave for work. My sister, who is home daily, is currently working with him on this. He gets along very well with her 9-year-old Shih Tzu, Benji; they often nap together, and Benji’s presence helps keep him calm. Crate training is a work in progress. Although his crate is cozy and he receives treats during training, he currently prefers to sleep in bed with me. Energy and Play: Frodo is funny and goofy when playing with toys. He loves playing fetch, which we do several times a day to help him burn energy. While our current walks are short due to the weather, he successfully goes potty outdoors. I believe he would greatly benefit from 30–45 minute walks once the weather permits. Despite his anxiety about being alone, Frodo is improving every day and will make a wonderful companion. We suspect the dad was a local unnamed politician that promised the moon. A good Samaritan rescued the mom and fostered her puppies until they were 8 weeks old. Griffin is our shy boy.
