Story
Mona has arrived back with Day of the Dogs through no fault of her own. She was dearly loved by a senior gentleman, who due to health reasons could not keep Mona with him any longer. Mona had been a faithful companion for years, being treated as the princess she feels she should be....and we would agree. Mona has enjoyed walks and being the easy companion her person needed. She came to us a little reserved, but has opened up her personality to being playful and adventurous. She loves to get out and explore the outdoors! She has become very playful with her dog pals, as well as people. She has learned to "let down her hair"! A dog friend can be a plus for Mona, but she would be just as happy with someone who can share life with her. She's up for walks, car rides, whatever includes her. Saying that, she is mellow inside. If not playing with a canine friend, she can be found relaxing or napping on a blanket. She has been polite and mannered since she arrived back to the rescue. She was clearly loved, and we...and she..are hoping for that special family who can give her someone to love again. Basics: She is a spayed female guessed to be around 5 yrs old and she weighs close to 40lbs. She is currently in a foster home in Rolling Prairie, IN Adoption Process: - Please fill out our adoption application: https://www.dayofthedogs.org/adoption-application - One of our team members will get back to you via phone. - Our dogs can be seen by appointment only. We do not have a facility at this time. Dogs are in foster homes or boarding - Adoption fee helps to cover transport costs, spay/neuter, initial vaccines, rabies, fecal, initial worming, and microchip. -We do not place holds on our dogs. Please do not contact us until you are prepared to adopt. NOTE: We are very good about updating the pet's profiles once adopted. So no need to write us to ask "Is he/she still available?" If the post is up, the dog is still available. About Day of the Dogs Day of the Dogs is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping shelter and rescue dogs find safety, families, and second chances. Founded in 2015 after we witnessed firsthand the devastating shelter overcrowding crisis facing southern communities, where some shelters have only days to find an outcome for homeless pets. Today, Day of the Dogs coordinates life-saving transports from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and other southern areas to rescue partners, shelters, fosters, and adopters in Northwest Indiana/Chicagoland and the Kansas City region — communities where adoption demand can help create better outcomes for pets in need. We also focus on long stay dogs in the Greater Kansas City and surrounding rural areas to help those pets get out of kennels and into homes. We also facilitate direct adoptions through our foster networks in both Kansas City and Northwest Indiana and partner with shelters and rescue organizations across Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, and Indiana to save more lives together. Because every open foster home creates another opportunity to save a dog, we are always looking for foster families to join our mission. Day of the Dogs operates entirely on donations. Every transport, veterinary appointment, supply purchase, and life saved is possible because of supporters who believe every dog deserves a chance. Donate or learn more: www.dayofthedogs.org

Story
Pal's Place recently rescued two of the sweetest, cutest, and most lovable little nuggets in town, and they're now looking for loving forever families. Colby and Swiss are precious lovebug littermates who were rescued from an overburdened animal control facility in rural Kentucky. They are currently in a loving foster home in Chicago, waiting to meet their forever families. Their mother is a purebred Boston Terrier; their father is unknown. The other half of their parentage may be a mystery, but whoever daddy is, he produced some adorable little fellas described as looking like giant Boston Terriers or miniature Boxers! Weighing 35 pounds at 8 months of age, their expected adult size falls right in the middle of the size difference between these two breeds. Fantastic medium-sized pups perfect for urban or suburban dwelling! Colby can be a bit bashful when meeting new people and is cautiously curious initially. A few gentle pats, kind words, and maybe a little yummy treat or two, and Colby is fast friends within a few minutes! Like most puppies, he's energetic, playful, curious, and eager to explore the world around him. He'll thrive in an active household that can provide plenty of mental and physical stimulation throughout the day, plus the routine, guidance, and structure all developing puppies need to mature into the best adult dogs they can be. Colby loves toys, playing fetch, playing in water and chasing the hose & sprinkler on warm days, other dogs, and being close to his humans. He is crate trained and making excellent progress with his housebreaking when on a regular schedule. Colby has had a good start and a solid foundation but is still a young dog learning the ropes who just needs a little polishing work. Potential adopters should be willing and prepared to continue working with him on house training and basic manners. He's very clever, very food-motivated, engaging, and eager to please, which makes training sessions enjoyable and fun. Colby is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and started on monthly flea and heartworm. He's a healthy, happy fella ready to get out and explore the world and all it has to offer. All he's missing is a family to share his love with. Interested in meeting this cutie patootie? Colby is fostered in Chicago, and meetings are by appointment once an adoption application is submitted and approved. His adoption fee is $475 and helps to cover his neuter and medical care needed to prepare him for adoption. *For more information or to apply, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit our website at palsplacerescue.org. Correspondence from the rescue may end up in spam or junk folders. Please check these folders regularly if waiting for a response. *All of our dogs reside in foster homes, and meetings are arranged by appointment only after our adoption application has been completed and approved. *Unfortunately, we cannot place holds on our dogs for more than three days after an application has been approved, and we have reached out to schedule a meeting. Please do not apply to adopt unless you are ready to welcome a dog into your home within three days of applying. *ADOPTION APPLICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE FROM THE RESCUE MAY END UP IN YOUR SPAM OR JUNK FOLDER. If you are waiting for our reply, please check those folders regularly.
