Story
Ricotta is still waiting for her forever home… and we truly can’t believe this adorable little girl hasn’t been scooped up yet. 🧀🐾 Ricotta is about 10 weeks old and part of our famous “Cheese Litter.” We were told the puppies are coonhound/boxer mixes, but at the end of the day, we just know she’s 100% cute. She’s playful, goofy, cuddly, and everything you’d want in a puppy. Ricotta loves attention, loves to play, and is soaking up every bit of puppyhood while she waits for a family to call her own. She’s up to date on age-appropriate vaccines and ready to head home with her forever family. Someone come grab this little cheese before she melts all our hearts completely. 🧀💕

Story
🤎 BESSIE 🤎 Bessie almost lost her life because people thought something was wrong with her. When she entered the shelter, she was showing neurological symptoms and was diagnosed with ataxia and a concerning heart murmur that staff believed would make surgery unsafe and lead to lifelong medical issues. But that wasn’t the real story. What no one realized at first was that Bessie had likely been beaten before arriving at the shelter, and the trauma she experienced caused temporary neurological symptoms. Once she was safe, loved, and properly evaluated, it became clear that Bessie was going to be just fine. ❤️ Since entering rescue care, Bessie has been: ✔️ Spayed ✔️ Microchipped ✔️ Fully vaccinated ✔️ Cleared and ready for adoption And now her true personality is shining through. Bessie is a total cuddle bug who LOVES her people. She adores dog friends, enjoys playing, and has the goofy, silly personality boxer lovers know and adore. She’s medium energy — happy to play, happy to snuggle, and always entertaining with her funny antics. 😂 Bessie does have some reactivity toward squirrels and fast-moving outdoor distractions, so she wears a basket muzzle on walks to help manage that safely and successfully. She walks well with it, and it allows people to confidently take her out without worrying about reactions. Because of this, Bessie would do best with: ✨ An experienced dog handler ✨ Someone familiar with boxer breeds ✨ A structured, loving home that understands reactive dogs And in return? You’ll get an incredibly loving, loyal, hilarious best friend. Bessie survived trauma, heartbreak, and being misunderstood. Now she’s ready for the forever home she always deserved. 🐾 Bessy is a 2 or 3 year old Boxer mix. Her adoption fee is waived with $100 credit towards helping her get settled in her new home! Her adoption application can be found at www.mysaltydog.com

Story
Goose is a 2 year old, 70 lb neutered male pit bull /boxer mix. He is extremely affectionate, smart, and cuddly. He enjoys playing, lounging, and snuggling. He is loyal and protective to his people. He has resource guarding behaviors (food, toys, and sometimes space). He has never bitten, but has snapped (at people and other dogs) when he feels his resources are being threatened.Because of this, he needs:✔️ Adult-only home (no children) ✔️ Experienced dog owner✔️ Calm, structured environment ✔️ Someone willing to spend the time to work with him.Might be best as an only dog. This is not a beginner dog—but in the right home, he has so much potential to be a loyal, loving companion.

Story
Found strutting through a Winn-Dixie parking lot like he owned the place, Bean Pie was adopted and sadly recently returned due to his adopter facing multiple upcoming surgeries and no longer being able to keep up with this quirky little character. Now he’s a sturdy 45 lbs of attitude, adventure, and affection all rolled into one compact pup. He’s part lizard hunter, part cuddle bug—and 100% entertaining. Bean Pie loves car rides, gnawing on his favorite bone, and soaking up affection. He has big feelings about trucks (barking is his preferred language), and while he enjoys outings, leash manners are still a work in progress. He’s used to having free roam of the house and usually naps when left alone. At night, he settles into his bed or the coziest corner he can find. Just keep an eye on the door—this clever boy won’t miss an open opportunity. Bean Pie is dog-selective and would do best as your one-and-only or with a dog his own size. No small animals or kids, please—he can get mouthy when overexcited, so a calm, experienced adult home is where he’ll thrive.Bean Pie does have a partial cruciate ligament tear, which means he may occasionally limp if he overdoes it on activity. In a home environment, this may be very manageable with conservative care—taking things easy, limiting high-impact activity, and using over-the-counter pain management as needed. That said, we want what’s best for him long-term. We are happy to send Bean Pie home as a foster-to-adopt, and if surgery ultimately becomes necessary, H.A.L.O. would cover the cost, as long as the adopter is willing to handle the post-surgery recovery and care.If you’re looking for a big personality in a compact body and don’t mind helping him take life a little slower, Bean Pie might be your perfect slice. 🐾🍰Requirements: Martingale Collar; Dog Selective; Calm Children 16+; Foster-To-Adopt (Knee Injury)All of our dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date with age appropriate vaccinations, heart worm or feleuk/FIV tested, fecal tested, rabies and tag, and microchipped before being placed in your home. Our adoption fee helps cover this cost.

Story
Hey! I’m Brady — part Shepherd, part Boxer, and 100% eager to win your heart. Before I came to HALO, I spent time at another shelter where life was tough. We only got outside for a short time once a day, and since I’m house trained, I’d get anxious waiting, worried I’d mess up my kennel. I tried so hard to be good — I’m the kind of dog who overthinks how to make you happy.Even in that stressful place, I lit up when someone came to see me — like they came just for me. I loved going for walks with volunteers and had the best time on park trips, taking in all the new sights and smells. I even liked choosing my own toy from the box! I did well in playgroups — while I wasn’t the wild type, I kept up with the best of ’em and took breaks when things got too rowdy. I was always friendly with both men and women, and even rode calmly in the car with a young couple once, just taking it all in.My first home before the shelter wasn’t very kind either. There was yelling and rough handling, so I really value kind, gentle people. If you see the best in me, I will always see the best in you!Recently, I spent some time in a home again and showed that while I have a lot of love to give, I can be a bit too interested in cats — I tend to chase and corner them, so I’d be happiest in a cat-free home. I can also be a little mouthy when I get excited, so I’d do best with kids around 8 or older who can handle my playful energy.I’m a sweet, loyal guy who just wants to love and be loved. Take some time to meet me, and I promise you’ll be head over heels!Requirements: Martingale Collar; Children 8yrs+ (due to mouthiness)All of our dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date with age appropriate vaccinations, heart worm or feleuk/FIV tested, fecal tested, rabies and tag, and microchipped before being placed in your home. Story
Meet Persia 🐾 When Persia first arrived at the county shelter, her body was covered in lumps and she was believed to be a hospice case. The expectation was simple: keep her comfortable for whatever time she had left. Many of those lumps were removed, and while some have since grown back, Persia hasn’t let that slow her down one bit. Nearly two years later, this resilient girl is still here—still wagging, still loving life, and still proving everyone wrong. Now a true super senior (her exact age is a mystery), Persia is looking for something a little different… a forever foster home. That means the rescue will continue to cover all of her food, medical care, and any needs she may have—you just open your home and heart to her. At around 70 lbs, Persia is a gentle, easygoing companion. She’s dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and happiest living the simple life: long naps, cozy spots, and short, leisurely walks. She doesn’t ask for much—just comfort, kindness, and someone to love her for however long she has left. Persia may have once been counted out, but she’s still here for a reason. Maybe that reason is you. If you're interested in being Persia's last home, please send an email to fosterpets321@gmail.com.
