This beautiful black Boxer mix recently came to FDHS as a stray and, unfortunately, was never reclaimed by her previous family.Velvet is still pretty new around here and settling in, but we think we’ve already got a pretty good idea of what kind of girl she is! She has the SWEETEST personality and has already claimed the title of Queen of the WiggleButts. She’s happy, well-mannered, and always ready to have a good time!Velvet does phenomenal about keeping a clean kennel and has been wonderfully non-destructive with her blankets and stuffed animals. She could use a little brushing up on her leash manners, but otherwise, she’s been a very polite lady. She’s shown interest in making friends with the other shelter dogs, although we haven’t tested her with cats yet.And the humans? Velvet has been an absolute angel baby with every single person she’s met. She’s still getting settled in, but so far, Velvet is proving to be one pretty fabulous girl who we think could fit right into all kinds of homes. Now she just needs to find the people who will appreciate all those wiggles as much as we do!**Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Hi future best friend, I’m Jupiter! I’ve been told I’m a Boxer mix, but honestly I think I’m mostly just… dog? Big, wiggly, slightly slobbery good vibes.My time at FDHS has been...an event. You know how some dogs have a rough start at the shelter? Mine has mostly involved accidentally injuring myself in increasingly creative ways. First, I sliced my paw open, which led to three separate vet visits because I wasn't very committed to the healing process. Then I discovered something called Happy Tail Syndrome. If you're unfamiliar, it's what happens when a dog has a powerful wagging tail and absolutely no self-preservation instincts spends too much time whacking said tail against kennel walls. Long story short, I ended up needing a partial tail amputation. I look a little silly now, but I feel a whole lot better. The recovery process involved wearing a giant cone, which was deeply offensive to me. For weeks I wandered around looking like a satellite dish, occasionally running into walls, doors, and people. Nobody was safe. The good news is that I'm all healed up now and still just being me! I love my humans, I love attention, and if you sit down, I'll probably try to become part of whatever you're doing. Personal space is still more of a suggestion than a rule. Other dogs? Meh. I don't mind them, don't necessarily need them. Cats don't really seem to bother me either. If your household needs some slobbery kisses, a personal comedian, and a professional snuggle buddy - I am single and searching!**Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Hi friends! My name is Reaper and I am about 3 years old! I am a friendly boy that is excited to find my furever home! I'm a very curious dog so don't expect me to interact right away, I just like to take in my environment which includes smelling all the new smells. As soon as I am done checking out my surroundings I will definitely love to play! I like to play tug the most but watch your arms because I'm not very coordinated and have been known to accidently get mouthy with people's arms (no worries I let go right away)! I don't have an aggressive bone in my body and don't mind if you take food or toys from me (a bad habit so don't just take things but if its something I'm not supposed to have, you are safe to take it from me). I will need to work on my manners but no worries I am highly treat motivated. I'm a fun guy to take out and walk so grab a leash and learn a little more about me! I do well with other dogs as long as they can keep up with my energy and play style! Just like with tug of war, I can play pretty rough with other dogs too, so they gotta keep up with me!
